This study investigates the role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing emotional intelligence (EQ) competencies, with a focus on applications relevant to cybersecurity contexts. Emotional intelligence is critical for cybersecurity professionals who must navigate high-pressure environments, manage stakeholder communications during incidents, and maintain team cohesion during crisis situations. Using a quantitative survey methodology with 95 participants from diverse professional backgrounds, this research examines correlations between generative AI capabilities and key EQ dimensions including emotional awareness, empathetic communication, conflict resolution, and stress management. Key findings demonstrate strong correlations between AI tools and EQ competencies, with emotional awareness and empathetic communication showing the strongest association (<tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{r} =0.74$</tex>). While this study's participant pool was not exclusively cybersecurity professionals, a noted limitation, the findings provide foundational insights into how AI tools might enhance human-centric skills across professional domains. The results suggest significant potential for integrating AI into EQ training and support systems, particularly for high-stress environments like cybersecurity operations. This research contributes to understanding the intersection between technology and emotional intelligence while highlighting critical areas for future domain-specific investigation.
