U radu se na teorijskom nivou ispituje evoluciona pretpostavka o promeni vrednosti i stavova prema radu usled sistemske promene – prelaska iz socijalizma u kapitalizam. U osnovi ove teze leži modernizacijska teorija. Empirijski deo istraživanja se odnosi na praćenje promena stavova prema radu i njihovih prediktora, koji se menjaju u procesu postsocijalističke transformacije i uspostavljanja perifernog kapitalizma u BiH. U radu se služimo podacima iz tri vremenske tačke: socijalistička Jugoslavija početkom 1970-ih, deblokirana postsocijalistička transformacija u Srbiji 2000. godine i konsolidovana postsocijalistička transformacija u BiH/Republici Srpskoj 2020-2023., kada se naziru konture uspostavljenog kapitalističkog sistema. Za potrebe analize je korišten standardni Hofstedov VSM80 (Value Survey Module), uz određene adaptacije koje su urađene u istraživanju u Srbiji (bihejvioralna procena menadžerskog ponašanja za distancu moći i namera ostanka u preduzeću za izbegavanje neizvesnosti), koje smo usvojili radi uporedivosti podataka. U analizi je korišćena mulivarijaciona analiza varijanse (MANOVA) koja je potvrdila polazne pretpostavke o vrednosnim promenama. Nalazi ukazuju na stabilne pomake u skladu s trendovima modernizacije: opadanje distance moći, rast individualizma, stabilnost kolektivizma i izbegavanja neizvesnosti, rast muških vrednosti u dominantno ženskoj kulturi.

Achieving human-level performance on real world tasks is a north star for the robotics community. We present the first learned robot agent that reaches amateur humanlevel performance in competitive table tennis. Table tennis is a physically demanding sport that takes humans years to master. We contribute (1) a hierarchical and modular policy architecture consisting of (i) low level controllers with their skill descriptors that model their capabilities and (ii) a high level controller that chooses the low level skills, (2) techniques for enabling zero-shot sim-to-real and curriculum building, including an iterative approach (train in sim, deploy in real), and (3) real time adaptation to unseen opponents. Policy performance was assessed through 29 robot vs. human matches of which the robot won 45 % (13/29). All humans were unseen players and their skill level varied from beginner to tournament level. Whilst the robot lost all matches vs. the most advanced players it won 100 % matches vs. beginners and 55 % matches vs. intermediate players, demonstrating solidly amateur humanlevel performance. Chronic, non-healing wounds are a leading cause of prolonged patient morbidity and mortality due to biofilm- associated, polymicrobial infections. Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are the most frequently co-isolated pathogens from chronic wound infections. Competitive interactions between these pathogens contribute to enhanced virulence, persistence, and antimicrobial tolerance. P. aeruginosa utilizes the extracellular proteases LasB, LasA, and AprA to degrade S. aureus surface structures, disrupt cellular physiology, and induce cell lysis, gaining a competitive advantage during co-infection. S. aureus evades P. aeruginosa by employing aggregation mechanisms to form biofilms. The cell wall protein SasG is implicated in S. aureus biofilm formation by facilitating intercellular aggregation upon cleavage by an extracellular protease. We have previously shown that proteolysis by a host protease can induce aggregation. In this study, we report that P. aeruginosa proteases LasA, LasB, and AprA cleave SasG to induce S. aureus aggregation. We demonstrate that SasG contributes to S. aureus biofilm formation in response to interactions with P. aeruginosa proteases by quantifying aggregation, SasG degradation, and proteolytic kinetics. Additionally, we assess the role of SasG in influencing S. aureus biofilm architecture during co-infection in vivo, chronic wound co-infections. This work provides further knowledge of some of the principal interactions that contribute to S. aureus persistence within chronic wounds co-infected with P. aeruginosa, and their impact on healing and infection outcomes.

A large number of nodes, and significant system overhead are among the challenges. To tackle these problems, a new PBFT technique known as trace-PBFT (t-PBFT) is being contemplated for adoption in the food supply chain. The PBFT algorithm, short for Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance, serves as the fundamental algorithm. The linkages throughout the supply chain may be categorized into three primary groups. As a response to the continuing discussion over the amount of data, the status of each node is continuously updated in real time. This metric is utilized to evaluate the dependability of the principal node and to analyze the overall performance of the nodes. To minimize the amount of data transmitted between nodes, we optimized the consensus process of the first algorithm. The distinct attributes of offering collaborative food technology were considered throughout this procedure. Experimental evidence indicates that the t-PBFT approach outperforms the PBFT algorithm in terms of throughput, request delay, and information overhead. An architectural paradigm is proposed by integrating the t-PBFT algorithm with a federated network. This model was developed in response to the distinct demands of the food supply chain. This model effectively captures data at each stage of the food supply chain to ensure information tracking while preserving the safety of the food technology flow process.

PurposeThis study examined characteristics of clinical trials that influence interest in participation among individuals with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD). ProceduresA cross-sectional survey was completed by individuals with AATD. Thirty-four items described characteristics of clinical trials, which were rated from 1 (would not participate) to 5 (highly interested in participating). Logistic regression was used to compare participants with high interest in trials (defined as scores of 4 or 5 on ≥50 % of responses) to all remaining participants. ResultsData were provided by 1664 participants (91.6 % with lung disease, 16.3 % with liver disease, 14.9 % with lung and liver disease). Nearly one-third (31.8 %) indicated that they would not participate in a trial if there was a chance of getting a placebo. If the trial included three liver biopsies, 53.3 % would not participate. More than two-thirds (69.8 %) of participants who were using augmentation therapy would not participate in a trial that required twelve months off therapy. Individuals with two or more exacerbations in the prior year were more likely to have high interest in trials (OR = 1.4, 95 % CI = 1.1–1.7, p = 0.009). In addition, individuals with a score of 10 or higher on the COPD Assessment Test were more likely to have high interest (OR = 1.4, 95 % CI = 1.1–1.8, p = 0.010). ConclusionsA sizeable percentage of participants indicated that they would not participate in clinical trials that include a placebo, involve multiple liver biopsies, or involve discontinuing augmentation therapy. Individuals who are more affected by AATD have more interest in trial participation than individuals who are less affected.

This study introduces a novel approach to regional nerve block anesthesia in scapular fractures by integrating ultrasound guidance with deep learning techniques. The proposed method leverages advanced imaging modalities and state-of-the-art deep learning models to achieve precise nerve localization amidst complex fracture patterns. Through extensive experimentation and evaluation, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in enhancing surgical planning, intraoperative decision-making, and patient safety. This study represents a significant advancement in the field of orthopedic surgery, offering a promising solution for improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with scapular fractures. The method this study suggests for locating nerves in shoulder fractures advances orthopaedic surgery. We can improve, expedite, and streamline procedures with the use of AI and medical imaging. This will improve the quality of life and outcomes for scapular fractures.

Emerging from the convergence of digital twin technology and the metaverse, consumer health (MCH) is witnessing a transformative shift. The amalgamation of bioinformatics with healthcare Big Data has ushered in a new era of disease prediction models that harness comprehensive medical data, enabling the anticipation of illnesses even before the onset of symptoms. In this model, deep neural networks stand out because they improve accuracy remarkably by increasing network depth and making weight changes using gradient descent. Nonetheless, traditional methods face their own set of challenges, including the issues of gradient instability and slow training. In this case, the Broad Learning System (BLS) stands out as a good alternative. It gets around the problems with gradient descent and lets you quickly rebuild a model through incremental learning. One problem with BLS is that it has trouble extracting complex features from complex medical data. This makes it less useful in a wide range of healthcare situations. In response to these challenges, we introduce DAE-BLS, a novel hybrid model that marries Denoising AutoEncoder (DAE) noise reduction with the efficiency of BLS. This hybrid approach excels in robust feature extraction, particularly within the intricate and multifaceted world of medical data. Validation using diverse datasets yields impressive results, with accuracies reaching as high as 98.50%. DAE-BLS’s ability to rapidly adapt through incremental learning holds great promise for accurate and agile disease prediction, especially within the complex and dynamic healthcare scenarios of today.
