Education on Bullying Prevention for Junior High School Students at Muhammadiyah 5 Padang
According to a 2019 survey by United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), bullying occurs in children worldwide. Globally, more than 30 percent of students aged 13 to 15 regularly experience bullying. Bullying can cause anxiety and fear in adolescents, disrupt concentration in school, and encourage them to avoid the school environment. Bullying problems that occur in schools require preventive intervention. The goal is to prevent this bullying practice from continuing or escalating into more extreme actions. Interventions in the form of education and training are an initial effort to convey a message to adolescents, individuals, or groups about the dangers of bullying. Community service activities at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior High School in Padang City aimed to increase adolescents' knowledge of bullying prevention. The implementation consisted of four stages: problem analysis, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of activities. The average pretest knowledge level increased from 58.47 to 84.02 (posttest) after the education was provided to 72 students. This activity has been proven to increase students' and the school community's insight and understanding of bullying. For the program's sustainability, it is hoped that the school will be involved and committed to regular bullying eradication activities. A sustainable program will increase anti-bullying awareness in schools.

Ownership of sanitation facilities does not necessarily guarantee the achievement of safely managed sanitation if it is not accompanied by adequate fecal sludge management. This condition is still prevalent in Tabek Village, Dharmasraya Regency, where all households have septic tanks, yet none have ever been desludged, increasing risks of leakage, groundwater contamination, and environment-based diseases. This community service activity aimed to increase public awareness and commitment to safely managed sanitation through the community-led total sanitation (CLTS) approach. Participatory triggering based on participatory rural appraisal (PRA) included sanitation mapping, transect walks, fecal volume calculations, contamination route analysis, and social contracts. The activity involved 25 community representatives assisted by sanitarians from the local health center and health office. Results showed that 15 septic tanks lacked manholes, and none had been emptied due to limited knowledge and lack of information on desludging services. Visual and emotional triggering led to a collective commitment to desludge septic tanks between January and April 2026. This activity demonstrates that the CLTS approach is effective in shifting community paradigms from merely owning facilities to actively managing safe sanitation.

Read moreWomen Cardiovascular Awareness And Physical Activity Promotion
Women's insufficient cardiovascular awareness remains a major obstacle in preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD) within this demographic. Addressing key contributing elements such as inactive lifestyles and insufficient physical activity among females is essential. The SEJIWA group, a women's fitness team in Padang, aims to foster healthy living, consistent physical training, and advancement in cardiac wellness. This program seeks to strengthen cardiovascular awareness and establish routine exercise culture among SEJIWA members. Various techniques were employed, encompassing educational sessions, promotional activities, health assessments, and practical training. The program ran from July through August 2025, with participation from 30 female SEJIWA members. Results revealed enhanced cardiac awareness score following education (50.04 versus 69.80), elevated physical activity measurements after weekly exercise routines (642.56 versus 940.38 MET). The majority exhibited unhealthy waist measurements, most participants were either obese or overweight, over half demonstrated elevated blood pressure readings and hypertension, most showed high cholesterol levels, while only a minority presented with elevated blood glucose. This program illustrated the efficacy of combined interventions including education, promotional strategies, screening, and consistent exercise in enhancing awareness and behavioral patterns. Nevertheless, the substantial CVD risk factors observed among participants highlight the critical need for sustained programs targeting CVD prevention in women.
Read moreStress and Incivility among Indonesian Undergraduate Nursing Students: A Multivariate Analysis
Nursing faculty and students consider incivility as moderate to serious problem in nursing education programs. The primary cause of incivility among nursing faculties is stress. Indonesian undergraduate nursing students experience moderate to severe stress throughout the program. This study aimed to examine the effect of stress on incivility among Indonesian undergraduate nursing students and to identify the most significant factors predicting incivility in nursing education. A quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted involving 220 Indonesian undergraduate nursing students from a public university in Indonesia that selected using convenience sampling. The instruments employed were the Student Nurse Stress Index and the Incivility in Nursing Education-Revised Scale. Ethical approval was granted from the relevant faculty. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data, and multivariate analysis employing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was conducted to determine the most significant predictor of incivility. The mean stress score was 67.18, indicating moderate stress, while the mean incivility score y was 46.50, which means high incivility. Age and academic year were negatively associated with incivility in nursing education, with p-values of 0.041 and 0.004, respectively. The clinical concern domain of stress was the most significant predictor of incivility among Indonesian undergraduate nursing students (p=0.000). It is expected that Indonesian undergraduate nursing students will effectively manage stress to control that incivility behavior and prevent negative impacts on themselves and their nursing education institutions. Seeking social support and utilizing campus resources can help alleviate difficulties with class materials, reducing feelings of fear related to failing exams and courses
Read moreThe Interaction between Hg and N on Ex-gold Mining Soil
Mercury (Hg) contamination poses a major hazard to ecosystems because it alters plant physiology, biochemistry, and metabolism. The impact is a competition for plant absorption space between Hg and nutrients (such as nitrogen) in the soil and plant system. The goal of this research was to quantitatively examine the interplay between mercury and nitrogen in ex-gold mining soil in Dharmasraya, West Sumatra. This study used a survey method to assess the diversity of ex-gold mining areas owned by each region (area and mining spots) at depths ranging from 0−20 cm to 20−40 cm, with three (Tebing Tinggi at spot 1 and Gunung Medan) to five (Tebing Tinggi at spot 2, Sikabau, and Koto Padang) replicates and a total of 54 samples. The ex-gold mining soil at Dharmasraya, has low fertility levels, including pH (4.03), CEC [7.15 cmol(+) kg−1], OC (0.04% C), and total N (0.09% N), as well as a very high Hg content of 4.18 mg kg−1. The interaction between mercury and nitrogen was non-significant at the 0.01 (2-tailed) level, with r = 0.167 and a linear equation y = 3.2164x + 3.8849; R² = 0.0276, indicating that mercury does not compete with N nutrients in ex-gold mining soil. However, the release of N by vegetation decomposition (OM-N) through the process of mineralization of C, as evidenced by the positive correlation between N and organic C (r = 0.645** with linear equation y = 0.5445x - 0.0115; R² = 0.4153), and also the release of Hg, which is absorbed from OM-N, as evidenced by the positive correlation between Hg and OC (r = 0.417** with linear equation y = 0.0182x − 0.0379; R² = 0.1744). Keywords: Dharmasraya, ex-gold mining soil, mercury, nitrogen
Read moreComparative Prognostic Value of Podocyturia Versus Microalbuminuria in Predicting Diabetic Nephropathy Progression: A Meta-Analysis
Background: Diabetic nephropathy represents the primary etiology of end-stage renal disease globally. Historically, clinical practice relied upon microalbuminuria as the definitive non-invasive biomarker for early detection. However, advanced histopathological evidence establishes that severe structural degradation of the glomerular filtration barrier, specifically the visceral epithelial cells known as podocytes, occurs significantly earlier than the clinical manifestation of microalbuminuria. Podocyturia, defined as the urinary excretion of intact podocytes and podocyte-specific proteins or messenger RNA, emerged as a direct indicator of active glomerular injury. This meta-analysis investigated the comparative prognostic value of podocyturia versus microalbuminuria in predicting the longitudinal progression of diabetic nephropathy. Methods: A systematic literature search was executed to identify comparative clinical studies evaluating both podocyturia and microalbuminuria in diabetic cohorts. Seven essential manuscripts met rigorous inclusion criteria. Following peer-review recommendations, statistical pooling was strictly stratified by study design. Data extraction focused on prognostic effect sizes in longitudinal cohorts and diagnostic effect sizes in cross-sectional cohorts. Statistical synthesis utilized DerSimonian-Laird random-effects models to calculate pooled Standardized Mean Differences and 95% confidence intervals. Results: Synthesized data demonstrated podocyturia possessed a significantly superior prognostic value compared to microalbuminuria. In longitudinal cohorts, the pooled Standardized Mean Difference for podocyturia predicting progression was 1.95 (95% CI: 1.50 to 2.40, p < 0.001), whereas microalbuminuria was 0.58 (95% CI: 0.25 to 0.91, p = 0.04). Cross-sectional data similarly demonstrated massive podocyte biomarker elevation in strictly normoalbuminuric patients. Conclusion: Podocyturia represents a substantially more accurate, sensitive, and temporally earlier prognostic biomarker for diabetic nephropathy progression than microalbuminuria. Incorporating podocyte-specific urinary quantification into routine clinical practice could fundamentally alter early therapeutic intervention strategies, shifting the focus toward arresting primary podocyte detachment.
