Foreword: An Archaeological Decameron--Research, Interpretation, and Engagement in the Time of Pandemic.
Land south of Patrington Road, Ottringham, East Yorkshire. Archaeological Evaluation by Trial Trenching
Seven Evaluation trenches were excavated, one L shaped trench with two 40m by 2m arms and six 20m by 2m linear trenches, covering a total of 320m2. Turf and topsoil were excavated using a 360o mini-digger with toothless ditching bucket. After removal of overburden, the excavation areas were hand-cleaned. No archaeological finds, deposits or features were recorded in any of the evaluation trenches. Plough scars were visible, as was variation in the natural geological deposits from firm clay to sandy clay and chalky till.
