Jamu as a Preventive Health Solution: Community Service by DPC ASPETRI Ngawi at Maospati Terminal in Commemoration of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H
Jamu, a traditional Indonesian herbal concoction, offers numerous health benefits and has been used for generations as a natural means of maintaining physical well-being. In welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1446 H, the DPC ASPETRI Ngawi organized a community service activity at Maospati Terminal with the aim of introducing jamu as an alternative preventive health solution. This activity included educational outreach about the benefits of jamu and the distribution of free herbal drinks to terminal visitors. The initiative is expected not only to raise public awareness about the importance of natural health preservation but also to reintroduce jamu as a part of cultural heritage applicable in daily life. The program aims to promote a healthy lifestyle rooted in local wisdom, while preserving the relevance of jamu as a traditional health solution to this day.
Read moreLuteoma in two mares treated by ovariectomy
Summary A 15‐year‐old Paint mare (Case 1) and a 15‐year‐old Arabian mare (Case 2) were presented for aggressive and undesired behaviour. Reproductive evaluation revealed, initially, an enlarged ovary with a smaller/normal sized contralateral ovary in each case. Granulosa cell tumour (GCT) panel testing revealed elevated inhibin B in both cases and elevated anti‐Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels only in Case 1 determined from currently established reference ranges. Based on a presumptive diagnosis of GCT, bilateral standing ovariectomy was elected for both mares. In each case neoplastic tissue consistent with luteoma was detected only on histological examination in the smaller/normal sized left ovary; the right ovary appearing normal. Long‐term follow‐up was performed 1 year and 5 years post‐operatively by telephone. The owners were satisfied with the outcome and each patient demonstrated resolution of aggressive stallion‐like behaviour. Each case returned to the owners' intended use. In conclusion, luteoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis for ovarian neoplasms in horses related to behavioural abnormalities, even in normal‐sized ovaries.

Nurses are confronting a number of negative mental health consequences owing to high burdens of grief during COVID-19. Despite increased vaccination efforts and lower hospitalization and mortality rates, the long-term effects of mass bereavement are certain to impact nurses for years to come. The nurse coaching process is an evidence-based strategy that nurse leaders can use to assist staff in mitigating negative mental health outcomes associated with bereavement. The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium brought together a team of palliative nursing experts early in the pandemic to create resources to support nurses across settings and promote nurse well-being. This article shares a timely resource for health systems and nursing administration that leverages the nurse coaching process to support bereaved staff in a safe and therapeutic environment.

Read moreCreating an Online Learning Community: Is it Possible?
As institutions are moving towards offering more online and distance education courses, scholars have reported that instructors may have difficulty developing learning communities among students enrolled in these courses (DiRamio and Wolverton 2006). The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in students’ perceptions of a learning community when enrolled in an online or on-campus introduction to counseling course. Participants were beginning graduate and advanced undergraduate students interested in pursuing a higher education degree in counseling. Results indicated no significant difference in students’ perceptions of learning communities based on course format.
Read moreUsing Community Forums to Enhance Public Engagement in Environmental Issues
As environmental issues become more complex, the public may be less interested in becoming knowledgeable enough to participate in decisionmaking. Yet its input can be critically important in some community-based issues. A community forum is one tool designed to provide information, enable participants to ask questions to experts and create an open atmosphere for discussing an issue that requires relatively little investment from the participants. We used this tool to explore the issue of using wood to create electricity. Our results suggest that participants gained knowledge about the issue. As long as their concerns were addressed, nearly twice as many participants felt positive about such a proposed facility after the forum (81 per cent) than before (43 per cent, n = 108). Such activities could be successful strategies to engage the public in decision-making because they respect the real limits on time, attention and knowledge and enable people to participate at an appropriate scale. To reproduce this community forum, we suggest using credible but neutral experts, creating a nonjudgemental atmosphere, allowing people to ask their questions and sharing the results with elected officials.
Read morePreoperative haemoglobin and warfarin response
There is a narrow line between the benefits and risks of anticoagulant therapy. Many factors influence a patient's response to warfarin, and careful monitoring is required to ensure that the therapeutic level of anticoagulation is achieved. The purpose of this retrospective review was to examine the relationship between the postoperative response to warfarin and the preoperative level of haemoglobin. The results showed that lower preoperative levels of haemoglobin are associated with an increased response to warfarin (p = 0.01).
