Explainable generative models (EGMs) are a strong tool in the crime domain that is transparent with the combination of generative models that learn complex data distributions with interpretability methods. This review covers how EGMs have been used to fight financial crimes, including money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, etc. EGMs can provide a solution by opening the model's inner workings through explain ability methods to meet these challenges. The review examines the key differentiators between EGMs.It explains their uses (AML, fraud detection, and FinCrime in general) by showing the possible ways they change the status quo in the financial sector and regulators.EGMs incorporate saliency maps, attention mechanisms, and counterfactual explanations to give human-terminating revelations, which, in return, builds trust and empowers effective decision-making in FinCrime utilization.

An impact of viral mutations on the extent of an epidemic is examined. A mechanism of immunization of the population via spread of weakly mutated strain as a natural factor terminating the epidemic is indicated. An epidemic model which details this mechanism is proposed.

The stress associated with caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia can negatively affect mental and physical health. Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), teaching caregivers to focus on the present moment with non-judgmental awareness, has been shown to improve overall mental health, reduce perceived stress, and decrease depression. At HealthPartners, we implemented the Mindfulness Based Dementia-Care (MBDC) program, an 8-week program designed for family caregivers for those living with dementia. MBDC combines teaching of MBSR skills along with essential education for this chronic disease. Participants attend a 1-hour orientation session, 2-hour classes each week for 8 weeks, at-home practice between classes, and a 6-hour Saturday retreat. Secure electronic surveys are administered at baseline, program completion and follow-up for evaluation of the program. We will discuss barriers and learnings of implementation as well as preliminary results from the evaluation.

ABSTRACTBy the antebellum years, popular and professional thinking about infertility and the birth of children with congenital disabilities followed a racialized pattern that hewed to the familiar contours of the United States’ larger racial and gender ideologies that legitimized slavery. Whites routinely blamed enslaved women for these conditions through toxic, intersecting discourses about race, gender, and disability that trafficked in racist stereotypes of black women’s supposed lasciviousness and immorality. At the same time, white women of elite or middling social stature were absolved of any imagined responsibility for these very same conditions on the grounds that their pure, delicate physicality left them vulnerable and susceptible to these ‘afflictions.’

Providing sound legislative measure is a critical part of the national and international responses to cybercrime. The primary objective of this research is to raise awareness of the recently enacted Cybercrimes Act, 2015 of Jamaica, which is examined through the lens of the Convention on Cybercrime. The substantive law provisions are explored and it is revealed that there is some level of harmonisation with the Convention on Cybercrime. The analysis also showed that cybercrime laws in Jamaica are a composite of related legislation where these ought to be taken in consideration in any analysis of the currency or suitability for fighting cybercrime.

This article is concerned with the media image of some of the women associated with professional football players in England. More specifically, a textual analysis of multiple media sources was conducted, the results of which connect media portrayals of, and narratives about, the image of football players' partners with the social (re)production of masculine hegemony. Media accounts of the heterosexual practices of a number of elite football players were examined. The focus of this examination was not the footballers per se, but the women implicated in their ‘off the pitch’ lives, whose media image, we posit, is constructed in accordance with a traditionally feminine, hetero‐sexy, and ‘expressive/supportive’ role. Adopting a critical feminist perspective, two principal typologies were developed to explore this role: the beautiful, erotic woman and the devoted and supportive woman, both of which, we argue, are complicit to the stalwart hegemonic project happening in English football. A further typology was developed to incorporate the most media‐visible of all footballers' partners, Victoria Beckham, whose ‘image’ is both complicit and contradictory. It is worth noting that certain articles referencing Victoria were the only challenge – in this study – to the hegemonic patterns apparent in the image of the footballer's wife.

Three new applications of the purposeful control model are presented, showing the dynamics of both its internal and external behaviour.

At present both management and biological sciences are faced with a common problem in methodology—how to model systems of organized complexity. In their approach to this problem the management sciences have adopted several concepts from the biological sciences, such as adaptation, goal-seeking, purposefulness, and so on, but have as yet donated little in return. This paper offers a contribution towards redressing the balance. A simple mathematical model of purposeful control is presented, and quantitative examples are then given to illustrate the application of the model to both living and practical systems.
