Mobilitätskulturen: Alltägliche Lebensweisen und materielle Strukturen verkehrspolitisch integrieren
Morphological redescription and molecular phylogeny of a little-known hypotrichous ciliate, Cyrtohymena torrenticola (Šrámek-Hušek, 1957) Foissner, 1989 (Ciliophora, Oxytrichidae) from Baiyangdian Lake, China
The present study provides a detailed redescription of the very little-known oxytrichid ciliate, Cyrtohymena torrenticola, collected from Baiyangdian Lake in northern China. The morphology of the Chinese population agrees very well with the original description, including a slender, Urosoma-like body outline, a cyrtohymenid oral apparatus, and terminally arranged transverse cirri. In addition, our study shows that C. torrenticola has (i) six dorsal kineties and (ii) yellowish, about 1 µm-sized cortical granules. An improved diagnosis is provided. From four dividers we can conclude (i) that the oral primordium originates de novo, (ii) that all postoral ventral cirri are involved in primordia formation, (iii) that the anlagen V and VI of both proter and opisthe, very likely originate via primary primordia, and (iv) that the dorsal ciliature is formed in the Oxytricha pattern, that is, kinety 3 fragments to form kinety 4 and two dorsomarginal kineties originate from/near the right marginal row anlagen. A phylogeny using SSU rDNA sequence data basically supports the morphological classification in Cyrtohymena. Both the type locality and our record strongly indicate that C. torrenticola prefers limnetic habitats. Our population cannot be used for neotypification because it was collected far away from the type locality.

The unique properties of synchrotron radiation, such as broad energy spectrum, variable light polarization, and flexible time structure, have made it an enormously powerful tool in the study of magnetic phenomena and materials. The refinement of experimental techniques has led to many new research opportunities, keeping up with the challenges put up by modern magnetism research. In this contribution, we review some of the recent developments in the application of synchrotron radiation and particularly soft X-rays to current problems in magnetism, and we discuss future perspectives.

A new L-band photoelectron gun (prototype 3.2) has been installed for use with a 10 MW klystron at the Photo- Injector Test facility in Zeuthen (PITZ). This gun has been conditioned starting in April 2007 up to a maximum gradient of about 60 MV/m. The gun was tuned for resonance at 1.3 GHz, and stable operation has been achieved with 100 mus RF pulses with a repetition rate of 10 Hz. Over certain periods the gun has been conditioned at high gradient with RF pulses of 400 mus, and conditioning has to be continued at longer pulse lengths up to 700 mus. Maximum power in the gun has been achieved with a new RF waveguide phase shifter with a 2pi range. Dark current measurements have been performed with several cathodes, including uncoated molybdenum, electropolished uncoated molybdenum, and cesium telluride. Also, the first photoelectrons have been accelerated with the new gun cavity.

Femtosecond evolution of electronic interactions at the Ni(111) surface
We used time-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to measure the changes in electron self energy for the occupied surface resonance near the surface Brillouin zone center of Ni/W(110) single crystalline films following optical excitations with a fs laser pulse. Binding energy and lifetime display pronounced variations on a 100 fs time scale. We provide evidence that this is directly linked to the laser induced population of electronic levels.

In the paper, we report on the status and progress of the superconducting RF gun project in Rossendorf. The gun is designed for cw operation mode with 1 mA current and 9.5 MeV electron energy, and it will be installed at the ELBE superconducting electron linear accelerator. The gun will have a 3½ cell niobium cavity operating at 1.3 GHz. The cavity consists of three cells with TESLA geometry and a specially designed half-cell in which the photocathode will be placed. The production of two Nb cavities, with RRR 300 and 40 respectively, has be finished at the beginning of 2005. After delivery, the RF tests will be performed and the preparation of the cavities will be started. At the same time, the design of the cryostat and the fabrication of its components are already finished. Further activities are the design of the diagnostic beam line, the testing of the new photocathode preparation system, and the upgrade of the 262 nm driver laser system.
