Heatwaves constitute some of the most extreme meteorological phenomena, profoundly affecting public health. Notwithstanding global focus on heat-related mortality, research on this topic in Romania remains scarce. This study seeks to estimate the impact of heat-related mortality in Romania from the summers of 2015 to 2024, a timeframe characterised by rising temperatures and extreme weather phenomena. Utilising national mortality records that include data from all regions of Romania and a population of around 19 million, we estimate the fatalities related to heat throughout this timeframe. Initial findings indicate considerable variability in death rates among locations and demographic cohorts, with elderly women (80+ years) and men aged 0–64 years being the most impacted. Results demonstrate a significant effect in metropolitan areas and locales with inadequate adaptive strategies. These findings underscore the pressing necessity for improved heat monitoring systems, focused public health initiatives, and sustainable climate adaption strategies in Romania. This study constitutes one of the initial thorough examinations of heat-related mortality in Romania, providing essential information for policy formulation and public health strategy. Recent research have emphasised the rising frequency and severity of heatwaves in Romania. In the summer of 2023, a record-breaking heatwave persisted for 19 consecutive days in southeastern Romania, spreading into Ukraine. Furthermore, studies demonstrate that the duration, spatial range, and occurrence of heatwaves in Romania exhibit decadal fluctuations, with a significant acceleration in their rise following the 1990s. The increasing frequency of heat events highlights the necessity of examining heat-related mortality in Romania to guide appropriate public health responses and policy measures.

Summary Fault rocks from surface outcrops were sampled and fault properties, such as shale content, porosity, and permeability were measured. Additional samples from hanging wall/foot wall host rock are analysed and compared to the lithology and properties of the fault rock. Shale gouge ration (SGR; Yielding, 1997 ) was calculated based on Vsh log data from adjacent well data. Key components for validating this method encompass selecting an appropriate field analogue outcrop, employing a suitable sampling technique, and conducting the petrophysical laboratory measurements

Endometriosis is known to be a chronic, debilitating disease. The pathophysiological mechanisms of endometriosis development include local chronic inflammation and a certain degree of local immune deficit. We investigated the relationship between the endometriosis severity, IL-8, IL-10, BDNF, VEGF-A serum and tissue levels, patient-related pain, and physical activity in a cohort of 46 patients diagnosed with endometriosis who underwent surgery. The same panel of biomarkers was investigated in a control group of 44 reproductive-aged patients with non-endometriotic gynecological pathology who underwent surgical intervention. Our data show a high statistical significance between tissue expression of IL-8, IL-10, patient-related pain and the severity of endometriosis. No relationship was identified between serum or tissue levels of VEGF-A and BDNF and the severity of endometriosis. These results validate the presence of local chronic inflammation and immune deficit, thereby creating, alongside other studies in the field, an opportunity for the development of innovative and personalized treatment approaches in endometriosis.

This second chapter in our trilogy reviews and critically appraises the scientific evidence for the role of endogenous opioid system (EOS) activity in the onset and progression of both obesity and eating disorders. Defining features of normative eating and maladaptive eating behaviors are discussed as a foundation. We review the scientific literature pertaining to the predisposing risk factors and pathophysiology for obesity and eating disorders. Research targeting the association between obesity, disordered eating, and psychiatric comorbidities is reviewed. We conclude by discussing the involvement of endogenous opioids in neurobiological and behavior traits, and the clinical evidence for the role of the EOS in obesity and eating disorders.

This study aims to (1) describe the idea of an integrated curriculum in higher education, (2) depict its implementation at the university level, and (3) find out the impact of the curriculum on university development. This research used a qualitative approach. It employed a literature study. The researchers gathered the data from book reviews and related journals. Data analysis involved collecting the data, sorting, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The findings showed that (1) the idea of an integrated curriculum was depicted in a tree-shaped scientific structure; (2) the integrated curriculum was done by requiring all students to learn Arabic and English, as well as providing opportunities for all students to memorize the Quran and practice Islamic life; (3) integrated curriculum contributed to accelerating the development and internationalization of institutions. Moreover, it improved human resources competencies.

Abstract The Harghita County Council has decided to carry out a self-assessment to evaluate the adequacy of its processes in the framework of a complex organizational development project using the CAF (Common Assessment Framework). The outcome of the performed self-assessment showed the capabilities and results of the operation, as well as the tasks of ensuring short- and medium-term development. This article aims to point out the needs and possibilities for improving administrative processes by presenting the experiences of the project. An important experience of the project is to prove the necessity of taking into account the specific features in addition to prove the general applicability of the model.

Artificial intelligence is a relatively new field of computer science that has evolved rapidly in recent years from the stage of laboratory research to that of the field with various spheres of applications. There is currently a whole set of techniques that allow the construction of programs and artificial intelligence systems, systems considered commercial products, successfully applied in the field of mass production. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical picture of the artificial intelligence algorithms used in serial production programming. Current research trends in mass production planning are oriented towards the adoption of hybrid techniques, based on specific algorithms of artificial intelligence, which try to combine the advantages of local search strategies (such as optimization by the ant colony model - Ant Colony Optimization, optimization by the particle set model - Particle Swarm Optimization , Genetic algorithms) with those of global search (such as Simulated annealing), in order to determine those optimal and efficient solutions in the case of mass production scheduling.

Modern society represents a set of organizations. Almost all aspects of human existence are regulated, assisted or facilitated by an organization or another. Almost all people are part of the structures and processes of a type of organization, be it family, school, government, church, business or club. According to a simple definition, an organization is the combination and use of human, financial and material resources to achieve objectives. The organization is a social system composed of activities that brings together human and material resources, through which the objective for which it was created is achieved: products, works, services appropriate to social order. The organization is not defined only by its products and/or services, but also by the manager's ability to communicate with employees and the management team. All activities related to the organization are mediated by communication, so communication is a key element in the organizational processes, interfering with their success or failure. Communication is one of the most important organizational activities. Fundamentally, human relations grow out of communication and the functioning and survival of organizations is based on effective relationships between individuals and groups. Moreover, organizational capabilities are adopted and developed through intense social and communication processes. Internal communication, seen as a set of procedures and organized communication exchanges, participates in the construction of numerous definitions of problematic situations underlying the understanding and behavior of employees. Every organization has its moments of glory and decay in functional and communicative terms. It is very easy to go from an effective communication situation to a poor one, given the multitude of factors that can disrupt the flow of information and communication of a group or of an organization. Like any activity that takes place within the organization, communication must have a planned dimension; it cannot be done randomly, but requires a plan, a strategy, rules and procedures. In other words, communication must be institutionalized and incorporated into the strategic plan of the organization. Communication is specific to each organization; each organization has its own communication system based on the profile, size and especially the organizational culture.
