Macromycetes of the Palace Park in Poznań-Radojewo (Wielkopolska Region, Poland)
This work aimed to present the diversity of fungal species in the Poznań- Radojewo park. It was characterized based on literature data, unpublished master’s theses, the authors’ data, as well as data collected during two mycological trips organized by the Mycological Section of the Polish Botanical Society. Between 1980 and 2017, as many as 333 species of macromycetes have been found within the park in Poznań-Radojewo (among them 19% are rare and endangered), including eight protected species (<em>Mitrophora </em><em>semilibera</em>, <em>Morchella esculenta </em>(var. <em>esculenta </em>and var. <em>umbrina</em>), <em>Geastrum corollinum</em>, <em>G. fornicatum</em>, <em>Hericium coralloides, </em>and <em>Myriostoma coliforme</em>), as well as two species new to the Polish mycobiota: <em>Psathyrella bipellis </em>and <em>P. larga</em>. The park in Poznań-Radojewo is very important for maintaining a high species diversity of fungi within the city of Poznań. During revitalization works, it is of paramount importance to take the needs of rare, threatened, and protected species under consideration and to preserve the natural character of plant communities. It is also vital to ensure the presence of coarse woody debris at different decomposition phases, which serves as an important substratum type for rare fungi.

Oro-antral communication is a complication associated with extraction of maxillary posterior teeth, surgeries of the maxillary sinus or pathologies associated with the sinus or the posterior maxilla. Such abnormal communications need to be repaired at the earliest, to maintain oral and nasal complex harmony and to prevent undue complications thereafter. These communications can be repaired by various methods, one of those being buccal fat pad pedicled graft technique which will be clinically evaluated and critically discussed in this paper. The pre-operative, immediate and post-operative measures followed, the eligibility criteria chosen, and the duration of follow up period, will formulate the outline for the study. A careful assessment of the criteria, clinical signs and healing is noted, to establish the outcome of the technique.

Botanical diversity is under high pressure in densily populated countries and protected areas play a very important role in species conservation. In the Netherlands, borders of most nature reserves, including Natura 2000 sites, have been drawn on the map before<br> the 1990s. In the 1990s, long-term projects to collect observation data of botanical diversity had just started to intensify among a community of volunteers united in FLORON Plant Conservation Netherlands, Dutch Mycological Society and the Bryological and Lichenological Society. Observation databases increased to around 40 million records in 2019. Defining Important Plant Areas is a proven method encouraged by the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation of the Convention for Biological Diversity and by IUCN’s Key Biodiversity Areas program. This report gives an overview of botanical biodiversity hotspots, regardless of their current nature conservation status, also providing insights of plant diversity of urban and rural areas in The Netherlands.

Isotopic evidence of biotrophy and unusual nitrogen nutrition in soil‐dwelling Hygrophoraceae
SummarySeveral lines of evidence suggest that the agaricoid, non‐ectomycorrhizal members of the family Hygrophoraceae (waxcaps) are biotrophic with unusual nitrogen nutrition. However, methods for the axenic culture and lab‐based study of these organisms remain to be developed, so our current knowledge is limited to field‐based investigations. Addition of nitrogen, lime or organophosphate pesticide at an experimental field site (Sourhope) suppressed fruiting of waxcap basidiocarps. Furthermore, stable isotope natural abundance in basidiocarps were unusually high in 15N and low in 13C, the latter consistent with mycorrhizal nutritional status. Similar patterns were found in waxcap basidiocarps from diverse habitats across four continents. Additional data from 14C analysis of basidiocarps and 13C pulse label experiments suggest that these fungi are not saprotrophs but rather biotrophic endophytes and possibly mycorrhizal. The consistently high but variable δ15N values (10–20‰) of basidiocarps further indicate that N acquisition or processing differ from other fungi; we suggest that N may be derived from acquisition of N via soil fauna high in the food chain.

<i>Pyrofomes juniperinus</i>, <i>comb. nova</i>, the North American Sibling of <i>P. demidoffii</i> (Polyporales, Basidiomycota)
Polyporus juniperinus is reinstated as a good species to encompass the North American collections labelled as P. demidoffii, and a new combination, Pyrofomes juniperinus (H. Schrenk) Vlasak & Spirin, is proposed. Identity of P. juniperinus and P. juniperinus ssp. earlei is discussed based on morphological and DNA evidence.
