The Traumatic Nature of Disclosure for Wives of Sexual Addicts
Wives of sexual addicts experience distressing symptoms in response to the disclosure of their husbands' compulsive sexual behaviors and often describe the disclosure event as traumatic. The results of this study suggest that a majority of wives of sexual addicts respond to disclosure with significant trauma-related distress. The data also reveal that years married at the time of disclosure and number of previous traumatic event exposures best predicted total trauma symptom severity scores. The study concluded with a discussion of the benefits of using a trauma model to understand and treat wives of sexual addicts following disclosure.

This article discusses the literary structure and rhetorical effect of the 'Sabbath Trick', a device critical to John 5 and 9. The Sabbath Trick is a form of 'unstable irony' in which the narrator of the Fourth Gospel withholds critical information about an episode until the end of the story, forcing the reader to re-evaluate radically the nature of Jesus' activity. In these two cases, the withheld-information concerns the time of the miracle: the signs in these two chapters were done 'on the Sabbath'. Because the Sabbath Trick involves the introduction of withheld information to disrupt expectations, this narrative technique may be compared to poststructural strategies of reading that seek to reintroduce elements that have been suppressed from the value system underlying the text. In this sense, the text of the Fourth Gospel actually performs a set of 'deconstructive' operations on its reader. This may be demonstrated by attempting a poststructural reading of John 5 and 9, which shows that the narrative 'turns the tables' on the reader by allowing the reader to address and manipulate the wrong sets of values.
