Summary translation traditionally takes an important place in university ESL courses, as it not only addresses a range of key educational objectives, but also prepares students for efficient professional communication. At the same time, it is one of the most complex and challenging types of interlingual mediation of significant difficulty for students. Existing relevant textbooks and teaching materials focus primarily on the analysis, condensation, and summarization of the source text, while considerably less attention is given to the creation of the secondary text and its editing. The aim of this work is to present the main aspects of teaching of summary translation editing. To achieve this, the specific features of summary translation, the stages of its execution, the main drawbacks of summary texts, and the aspects and approaches to editing aimed at addressing these drawbacks are examined sequentially. The main research methods include the analysis of methodological and teaching guidelines and studies devoted to summary translation, as well as the analysis of experience in organizing a summary translation competition, i.e. the development of methodological support and the assessment of students’ competition entries. It has been demonstrated that editing summary translations constitutes an important yet methodologically challenging stage due to its cross-discursive nature and complexity. Teaching summary editing should take into account the following aspects: content-related, functional, subject-specific, linguistic, and formal. These are aimed at coping with the drawbacks stemming from insufficient understanding of the source text’s characteristics, the summary genre, and disregard for formal requirements. A checklist emerges as the optimal tool for organizing the educational process: it ensures a comprehensive review of all aspects, effectively structures the workflow, and is easily understood by today’s students.

Social studies on the communication problems between the state, society, and citizens are particularly relevant in the modern world. This article is dedicated to a way of enhancing the quality of communication between lawmakers and society known as "normative promotion." The author proposes to understand normative promotion as the activities of a regulator (lawmaker) aimed at forming a unified communicative legal space by informing citizens (the addressees of legal regulation in general) about the legal regulation being introduced, explaining the content of new legal acts or legal norms with the aim of fostering a conscious attitude towards these norms and a positive perception of legal regulation. Ignoring the systematic work of the state in the field of normative promotion can lead to both a decrease in the effectiveness of regulation in general and the emergence of social tension and conflicts within society in particular. It is advisable to consider the practices of normative promotion from the perspective of the communicative theory of law, which serves as the methodological basis for the research, namely, in the context of the dialogue between the legislator and society, where the main role is played not by the regulator as the author of the message, but by the addressee, that is, society or citizens. By examining the connection between normative promotion and other methods of enhancing the quality of lawmaking communication, the author addresses the question of whether the practice of normative promotion has practical significance for legal expertise as an activity aimed at assessing the quality of legal acts. As a result, the author concludes that organizational means, such as deliberative practices, legal expertise, and normative promotion, can serve to improve communication. The article also argues that the improvement of communication should be ensured by legal means, as all the aforementioned practices are poorly or not at all legally supported. In particular, normative promotion, as an activity related to shaping public opinion, is associated with risks of abuses and political manipulations, thus requiring strict legal regulation. Furthermore, it is justified that technical means, primarily information technologies, should also contribute to improving communication between lawmakers and society, which can be applied in parliamentary activities, particularly in ensuring dialogue between parliamentarians and citizens, normative crowdsourcing, legal information dissemination, and legal (including public) expertise of draft legal acts.

The article explores the representation of death in Yu Hua's novel "To Live," as a crucial thematic and structural element of the work. Lexical and narratological analysis revealed a dual authorial interpretation of death. On one hand, the author employed direct, naturalistic nominatives ("死," "尸体," "毙掉"). On the other hand, euphemisms and metaphors were used ("断气," "办后事"), serving as psychological protection that softens moments of highest emotional tension. External and internal focalization demonstrates death both as a mass historical phenomenon and as a deeply personal loss. During the study, the authors concluded that the harmonious combination of lexical and narrative means vividly realizes the main idea of the novel: despite the losses, grief, and death, which are an integral part of human existence, life goes on. A variety of methods were applied in the research: a lexicosemantic analysis was used to systematize units related to death; narratological analysis helped to identify narrative strategies and types of focalization to obtain a complete picture, taking into account all historical and cultural phenomena, while contextual and comparative analyses were also employed. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive analysis of the category of "death" in Yu Hua's "To Live," which allowed for the identification of the specificity of the author's use of linguistic and narrative means in depicting death and the process of dying. Based on the analysis conducted, it can be concluded that the category of death in Yu Hua's "To Live" is not merely a theme, but a fundamental narrative principle that organizes the poetics of the work. The author constructs a complex dual strategy of its representation, where direct, naturalistic expression serves to objectify death, normalizing it. At the same time, euphemisms and metaphors fulfill the function of psychological protection, marking moments of the characters' highest emotional tension. This lexical dualism reflects the dual nature of death itself in the novel: on one hand, it is a routine part of everyday life, and on the other, a deeply personal, existential loss.

The subject of this research is the fundamental structural conflict between hierarchical models of administrative governance, functioning within the logic of territorial sovereignty (the "space of places"), and the network morphology of the modern Russian diaspora, which exists within the extraterritorial logic of the "space of flows." The paper analyzes the crisis of traditional institutions of representation (such as KSORS), which exhibit signs of ontological exhaustion and an inability to ensure connectivity in the post-mobilization phase. The study aims to conceptualize and develop parameters for the institutional transformation of the community, necessary to transition from vertical integration—which leads to instrumentalization and alienation—to an architecture of distributed interoperability: a polycentric holarchy. The research investigates the feasibility of replacing bureaucratic consolidation with protocol-based connectivity grounded in horizontal trust and digital standards. This approach resolves the contradiction between the state-centric drive for unification and the transnational community's objective need for autonomous self-reproduction. The research methodology is based on a systems approach and Social Network Analysis (SNA), employing a mixed-methods strategy. Drawing on empirical data from 2021–2025, a comparative analysis of coordination regimes was conducted using a custom "Functionality — Toxicity" matrix to evaluate the viability of various institutional designs. The scientific novelty of the study lies in interpreting the crisis of diaspora institutions as an ontological rupture that requires a socio-engineering solution rather than ideological consolidation. For the first time, a normative "Commonwealth" model is proposed, based on a three-tier architecture: ontological (Self-Sovereign Identity), legitimizing (shifting from status-based to procedural mandates), and instrumental. The paper substantiates the effectiveness of implementing protocol interaction mechanisms—such as algorithmic deliberation ("computational democracy"), reputation staking, and the use of sortition in arbitration—to prevent the oligarchization of power. The concept of "protocol ethics" is introduced as a tool to reduce transaction costs. The study concludes that implementing a protocol architecture resolves the tension between the need for security (risk isolation) and the necessity of coordination, ensuring the preservation of the diaspora's agency without creating centralized hierarchies. The proposed model facilitates the conversion of social capital into sustainable institutions protected from political instrumentalization, transforming the diaspora into an adaptive networked civilization.

This article is devoted to the study of the emotional burnout syndrome among beauty industry professionals, a professional group that currently remains insufficiently researched in the context of psychological risks, despite the intense and prolonged interpersonal interaction underlying their work. While the phenomenon of burnout is actively studied by representatives of traditional helping professions (doctors, teachers, psychologists), masters of the beauty industry also face high emotional stress on a daily basis, the need to maintain stable positive interaction with clients, work in a competitive and unstable schedule. This makes them vulnerable to the manifestations of chronic stress, increasing fatigue and alienation that form the basis of burnout syndrome. The present study is aimed at identifying the specific characteristics of burnout among masters of the beauty industry and comparing it with similar manifestations among orphanage educators — representatives of another helping profession. The methodological basis of the study includes a quantitative comparison of two samples (20 people each) using the professional burnout questionnaire. Maslach and S. Jackson, adaptation by N. E. Vodopyanova) and the methods of V. V. Boyko, as well as statistical processing using the Mann–Whitney U-test. The results of the study showed that masters of the beauty industry are significantly more susceptible to emotional exhaustion, increased anxiety, dissatisfaction with themselves, internal tension, fatigue and emotional detachment compared to educators. Statistically significant differences were found between the groups in a number of key components and phases of burnout syndrome development. These differences allowed us to partially confirm the hypothesis of the existence of structural differences in the manifestation of burnout components and fully confirm the hypothesis of differences in its phases. The scientific novelty of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of a previously virtually unexplored professional group representing the service sector and involved in intensive emotional interaction with clients on a daily basis. The data obtained complement existing ideas about the specifics of burnout and can be used in the development of targeted prevention programs.

The study provides a comprehensive analysis of existing strategic partnership models between Russia and China in high-tech industries, systematizing the key barriers hindering their development, and identifying promising areas for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation to ensure the technological leadership of both countries. In the context of global turbulence and sanctions pressure, such a partnership is vital for achieving technological sovereignty for both countries. This article examines a multi-level system of interaction that includes three key models: intergovernmental ("top-down"), scientific and academic, and corporate and commercial. A number of serious obstacles hindering the deepening of this partnership are identified. Key barriers include the risk of secondary sanctions for Chinese companies, both countries' technological dependence on the West in critical segments, differences in regulatory frameworks and standards, as well as institutional problems, including the insufficient effectiveness of intergovernmental mechanisms and intellectual property protection. The study leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to shift the emphasis from simple commodity exchange to the creation of joint full-cycle research and production chains, the harmonization of legal regulation, and the creation of specialized financial institutions to ensure sustainable financing of large-scale R&D.

Medicine is one of the oldest and at the same time one of the most dynamically developing fields, having undergone an evolutionary path from magic to modern high-tech science over many millennia. The vocabulary of this sphere is the focus of attention for researchers in terminology. The subject of this study is the traditional terminological units of medical concepts from ancient China and their translation into Russian. The purpose of this work is to analyze the ways of word formation and semantics of the terms of the Cultural Circle of the Yellow River, represented in the fundamental work "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine." The layer of traditional Chinese medical terms presented in "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine" is of interest. Various methods have been applied for material selection and research, including text analysis, etymological analysis, semantic analysis, and the study of scientific literature. The methodological foundation of the research consists of the works of Soviet and Russian scholars in terminology, who have formed an understanding of the special lexeme and its properties. The research also considers the studies of Chinese scholars on this issue. As a result of the terminology analysis, it was established that the conceptual picture of medical knowledge in ancient China is permeated by the idea of the unity of the world and man, which is reflected in the naming of the components of medicinal preparations by analogy with the hierarchical structure of society. The philosophical concept of the cosmos as Yin and Yang, as well as the teachings on the life energy Qi, had a direct influence on the formation of the terminological system of the Cultural Circle of the Yellow River, resulting in the emergence of compound terms representing a series of names for human organs designated by a single word. The novelty of the research lies in the application of an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of traditional Chinese medicine terms, which reflect both practical healing experience and philosophical views on the structure of the world. For the first time, compound terms have been described, representing a unique experience of understanding the physiological processes of a living organism. The conducted research led to the following conclusions: equivalent and non-equivalent terminological units such as Yin, Yang, and Qi were identified, the translation of which requires linguocultural commentary; a terminological model of the mutual generation and overcoming of the five elements—fire (火), water (水), wood (木), metal (金), and earth (土), which relate to internal organs, emotions, and disease symptoms, was presented.

The object of the study is political habitus as a stable system of dispositions formed in everyday practices through rituals and discourse. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to understand the complex and contradictory processes in Russian socio-political life. At the same time, three interrelated elements play a key role in the mechanism of habit formation in the daily sphere: modern myth-making, rituals and discursive practices. Through their prism, the article explores how latent political attitudes and values are translated and fixed in the mass consciousness. In the study, these processes are analyzed using the example of the return of the Soviet legacy to Russian socio-political practice. In modern conditions, the specificity of these processes lies in the active mobilization of symbolic capital of the Soviet era to legitimize the current political order and consolidate society. Thus, the subject of the analysis is the mechanisms of constructing this habitus through the triad "myth-ritual-discourse", studied on the basis of the reception of the Soviet heritage. The theoretical and methodological basis of the article is the concept of habitus P. Bourdieu, as well as approaches to the study of political mythology and performative practices. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the proposed analytical tools that allow us to consider the construction of political habitus not through the prism of institutional politics, but through the triad of "myth-ritual-discourse" in everyday practices. Using the example of the reception of the Soviet heritage, it is clearly demonstrated how the reactualization of mythologies and rituals of a bygone era takes place. The main conclusions of the work show that the symbolic capital of the Soviet period is actively used in modern Russia to form an integral political habitus. The analysis shows that it is through routine everyday practices such as the use of specific vocabulary, participation in rituals, or consumption of media products that the mass consciousness learns key political dispositions. Thus, myth, ritual, and discourse are key mechanisms for the incorporation of the "Soviet" as an unreflected scheme of perception and action into the structures of modern political consciousness and behavior.

This article examines the portrayal of romantic love in the works of P. G. Wodehouse, the preeminent English humorist of the 20th century. The concept of «romantic love» is considered through the lens of early German Romantic philosophy. By analyzing the works of F. Schelling, F. Schlegel, Novalis, as well as major scholarly studies on early German Romanticism, the article elucidates the Romantic concept of love. The image of romantic love in Wodehouse's oeuvre is analyzed using examples from different periods of the author's career, including early novels (Ruth in Exile, A Gentleman of Leisure), mature works (The Luck of the Bodkins), and later texts (French Leave, Money in the Bank). Particular attention is paid to the short story The Reverent Wooing of Archibald. The study employs the comparative method. Wodehouse's works are compared with texts by the early German Romantics and A. Tennyson, specifically his cycle Idylls of the King. Wodehouse's writing is also examined within the framework of Yu. N. Tynyanov's theory of parody. Drawing on existing scholarly literature, the article interprets the motif of chivalric love in Wodehouse's work. This study is the first in both Russian and international literary scholarship to focus specifically on the image of romantic love in his writing. While previous researchers have traditionally emphasized the comic aspects of love in Wodehouse's works, this article argues that irony and parody function not to diminish the concept of romantic love, but to reveal and revitalize it. This leads to the conclusion that the portrayal of love created by Wodehouse is unique in 20th-century literature. The findings of this research provide grounds for a partial reconsideration of the established view of Wodehouse's place in the 20th-century literary process and may be utilized in courses on the history of English literature.
