Nurses’ performance Regarding to Care of Patients with Meningitis
Meningitis is a serious condition that affects the central nervous system, Nurses play an active role in the control and management of meningitis . This study aimed to assess nurses’ performance regarding to care of patients with meningitis Research Design: Descriptive exploratory design was be utilized in this study. Settings: The proposed study has been conducted in Helwan Fever Hospital. Sample: convenience sample of all available (60) nurse worked at meningitiswords andintensive care unit at Helwan fever ospital. Tools: Tool (1): Self structured questionnaire include. Part I: Nurses demographic characteristics data. Part II: Nurses knowledge assessment questionnaire. Tool (II): observational check list regarding lumber puncture. Results: The study finding revealed that as regards nurse’s knowledge about care of patients with meningitis, 75% of the studied nurses had a satisfactory level of total knowledge, while 25% of them had an unsatisfactory level of total knowledge, 28.3% of the studied nurses had adequate level of observational check list regarding lumber puncture, while71.7% of them had in-adequate level of observational check list regarding lumber puncture Conclusion: In light of the current study, it can be concluded that, three quarters of the studied nurses had unsatisfactory level of total knowledge regarding care of patients with meningitis, while only one-quarter of them had satisfactory level. Recommendations: Global educational standards should be applied to develop the nurses' skills by giving chance to nurses to participate with training sessions in developed country to improve nursing skills and receiving updates concerning care.

Read moreA newborn with anaphylaxis due to vancomycin
All drugs may cause hypersensitivity reactions. Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency that rarely occurs in newborns due to immature immunity. Early diagnosis and treatment are life-saving. Vancomycin, a glycopeptide antibiotic with bactericidal action against Gram-positive bacteria, is commonly used for neonatal nosocomial sepsis. We hereby present a premature infant (born at the 33rd week of gestation, birth weight: 1745 grams) who was started on vancomycin on postnatal day 7. He had severe circulatory failure and stridor during infusion on day 7 of vancomycin treatment and his tryptase level was elevated to 64.60 micrograms/L Conclusions. To the best of our knowledge, there is no neonatal case of anaphylaxis due to vancomycin in the literature. Neonatologists should keep in mind that an anaphylactic reaction with a fatal course may develop during vancomycin infusion.
Read moreInitial Reliability and Validity for the Critical Hire® - Screen
Although the use of integrity testing during the application process has become a frequent practice in general business settings, their use has been rather nonexistent in the field of corrections. This limited use may stem from a lack of awareness about integrity tests in corrections, as well as a lack of integrity measures that have been normed and validated for use with correctional applicants. This study outlines the development, reliability, and validity for the Critical Hire®-Screen (CH-S), an overt integrity assessment measure developed for probation, parole, and other correctional officer job applicants. Four separate studies were conducted and provide evidence for the internal consistency, test‒retest reliability, and convergent validity for the CH-S. Results provide initial support for correctional agencies to use the tool to measure various traits of integrity at a pre-offer phase in the hiring process.
Read moreWaves and Swells in High Wind and Extreme Fetches, Measurements in the Southern Ocean
The generation and evolution of ocean waves by wind is one of the most complex phenomena in geophysics, and is of great practical significance. Predictive capabilities of respective wave models, however, are impaired by lack of field in situ observations, particularly in extreme Metocean conditions. The paper outlines and highlights important gaps in understanding the Metocean processes and suggests a major observational program in the Southern Ocean. This large, but poorly investigated part of the World Ocean is home to extreme weather around the year. The observational network would include distributed system of buoys (drifting and stationary) and autonomous surface vehicles (ASV), intended for measurements of waves and air-sea fluxes in the Southern Ocean. It would help to resolve the issues of limiting fetches, extreme Extra-Tropical cyclones, swell propagation and attenuation, wave-current interactions, and address the topics of wave-induced dispersal of floating objects, wave-ice interactions in the Marginal Ice Zone, Metocean climatology and its connection with the global climate.
Read moreA Novel Video Encryption Method Based on Faster R-CNN
In order to improve the generalization performance of video encryption and reduce the amount of data in video en-cryption, this paper proposes a video encryption on regions of interest (ROI) method based on Faster R-CNN by combining machine learning with information security. The method trains a Faster R-CNN model using the ROI dataset firstly, and then uses the model to extract ROI in the video. Different encryption algorithms are used to encrypt ROI and non-ROI in the video respectively. To overcome the shortcomings of encryption algorithms that can only be used for a specific coded video, a special video encryption method is proposed to encrypt the video with different video coding structure and has better generalization performance. Compared with the encryption method in the video coding process, this method considers the content information of the video fully and has better performance. It can be concluded through experiments that the encryption method in this paper has the characteristics of higher security and less calculation.

New York Times, reports, that: The financial meltdown has sent the literary-minded scurrying back to the classics for insight and succor. exploits of the Ponzi artist Bernie Madoff remind us of THE GREAT GATSBY (F. Scott Fitzgerald, 1950) or THE WAY WE LIVE NOW [Anthony Trollope, 1941] So when hard-core free-marketeers like Richard Posner (2009) started to question the efficacy of capitalism, the works of Karl Marx are being fished out of the dustbin of history. Most classical critiques of capitalism are much-mentioned but rarely read in the original, these were the kind of books that people routinely cite without really knowing what's in them (The New York Times International Edition, July 2009).
Read moreCorporate governance practices as a reflection of the institutions, economics and political environment in Sub-Saharan Africa Anglophone countries
This paper reviews the historical background of corporate governance, emerging issues in the development and practice of corporate governance in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. It compared the corporate governance institutions, politics, corruption and economics of each country. We find that in Ghana there are lacks of institutional shareholders, while in Nigeria and South Africa there are institutional shareholders. However, shareholders association in Ghana and South Africa are not active compared with that of Nigeria. In addition, South Africa have a stronger institutional framework than Ghana and Nigeria, this really provide an evidence to show that corporate governance practices in South Africa seems to be better than Ghana and Nigeria. Generally, we find that corruption and bribery, politics, economics influence effective corporate governance practice in each country. We recommend that the socio-political and economic culture in Sub-Saharan Africa Anglophone in particular Nigeria and Ghana requires need for urgent re-orientation in order to restructure the National Institutions of each of the country. As a result, corporate governance guideline should be tailor towards the political economic and cultural environment of those countries.
