Monitoring is the key service needed to gain insights into an infrastructure. It needs to be continuous and on-demand to quickly detect, correlate, and analyse data for a fast reaction to anomalous behaviour. The challenge of this type of monitoring is how to quickly identify and correlate problems before they affect end-users and ultimately the productivity of the organisation. Management teams can monitor the availability and reliability of the services from a high level view down to individual system metrics and monitor the conformance of multiple SLAs. The EOSC Monitoring service combines two operational monitoring services: the EOSC-CORE and the EOSC-Exchange Monitoring Services, Respectively monitoring the EOSC-Core services (EOSC Core Monitoring) and the services onboarded to the Marketplace (EOSC-Exchange Monitoring). The EOSC Monitoring services were implemented adopting the ARGO technology. This document describes the current architecture of the EOSC Monitoring and provides guidelines for five (5) integration Options available

The rapid spread of information and communications technology coupled with significant increases and lower costs of international flights and freight have created a changing innovation landscape. The EU OISPG sketches an evolution picture for the practice of innovation as shown in the figure below. In the past, much innovation came from individuals in places such as Bell Labs or IBM labs, which used a closed or vertical innovation approach. Open Innovation 2.0 (OI 2.0) as defined by the EU Open Innovation and Strategy Policy group (OISPG 2010) sees the benefits of collaboration and networking from a broader perspective as a way for firms and other organizations to improve their innovation base so as to make optimal use of the societal capital and ‘creative commons’ at their disposal.

The digital transition brings us to a point where it is critical to unveil the shortcomings of the excessive centrality of the notion of control in knowledge and in action. Omniscience and omnipotence, if pushed too far, crowd out any sense of freedom, purpose and meaning, even if it is in the name of the best intentions. Hannah Arendt’s notions of natality and plurality, by anchoring human freedom in beginnings rather than in sovereignty, provide grounding for revisiting the human condition in a hyperconnected era and approaching the related ethical issues with modesty, confidence and amor mundi. This operation, called “Arendtian axiomatic reset” allows reclaiming distinctions such the one between public and private or the one between agents, artefacts and nature. That renewed perspective opens a space to shape a digital literacy, which can enable flourishing life experiences in a hyperconnected era. I shall also propose to consider policy-making, not only in terms of seeking control over the future, but also in being responsive to new meanings and providing the tools to allow agents to orient themselves in the world as it evolves and live a decent life.
