Relato de intervenção feminista realizada por mulheres em um grupo afetivo político em maio de 2018. A intervenção consistiu em apresentar ao grupo político o resultado do questionário autoaplicado, desenvolvido e gerido por mulheres pertencentes ao grupo. São mulheres altamente escolarizadas que se utilizam de rede social e encontros para apoiar umas às outras. Após identificação de incômodos, sentimentos e dilemas comuns, as mulheres decidiram estruturar o processo de auto-conhecimento, utilizando como instrumento-intervenção um questionário on-line com cinco seções: dados gerais socioeconômicos; atuação profissional e acadêmica; engajamento social e ativismo político; experiências envolvendo machismo e violência; e maternidade. O potencial analisador da pesquisa impulsionou a partilha com o grupo misto, revelando o lugar de fala dessas mulheres com suas marcas, experiências e violências descritas. A análise dos dados juntamente com os homens no encontro presencial abriu espaço para emoções, reflexões e afetações diversas. A estratégia permitiu que cada tema fosse discutido de forma anônima mas também íntima, já que estavam falando de si em um grupo de confiança. Os temas mais impactantes para os homens foram os relatos de violências sofridas ao longo da vida e o quanto as mulheres sentem limitações para se colocarem livremente em espaços políticos e públicos. Posteriormente, os dados foram também analisados na rede social do grupo, em forma de relatório, o que permitiu um maior alcance e aprofundamento do debate. Apesar de muitos homens permanecerem calados, a ação foi considerada transformadora para homens e mulheres.

BackgroundRecent studies suggest that some nonnutritive sweeteners (NNS) have deleterious effects on the human gut microbiome (HGM). The effect of steviol glycosides on the HGM has not been well studied. ObjectiveWe aimed to evaluate the effects of stevia- compared with sucrose-sweetened beverages on the HGM and fecal short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) profiles. MethodsUsing a randomized, double-blinded, parallel-design study, n = 59 healthy adults [female/male, n = 36/23, aged 31±9 y, body mass index (BMI): 22.6±1.7 kg/m2] consumed 16 oz of a beverage containing either 25% of the acceptable daily intake (ADI) of stevia or 30 g of sucrose daily for 4 weeks followed by a 4-week washout. At weeks 0 (baseline), 4, and 8, the HGM was characterized via shotgun sequencing, fecal SCFA concentrations were measured using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and anthropometric measurements, fasting serum glucose, insulin and lipids, blood pressure, pulse, and 3-d diet records were obtained. ResultsThere were no significant differences in the HGM or fecal SCFA between the stevia and sucrose groups at baseline (P > 0.05). At week 4 (after intervention), there were no significant differences in the HGM at the phylum, family, genus, or species level between the stevia and sucrose groups and no significant differences in fecal SCFA. At week 4, BMI had increased by 0.3 kg/m2 (P = 0.013) in sucrose compared with stevia, but all other anthropometric and cardiometabolic measures and food intake did not differ significantly (P > 0.05). At week 8 (after washout), there were no significant differences in the HGM, fecal SFCA, or any anthropometric or cardiometabolic measure between the stevia and sucrose groups (P > 0.05). ConclusionsDaily consumption of a beverage sweetened with 25% of the ADI of stevia for 4 weeks had no significant effects on the HGM, fecal SCFA, or fasting cardiometabolic measures, compared with daily consumption of a beverage sweetened with 30 g of sucrose. Este artigo aborda a gestão da qualidade na educação, explorando as dimensões fundamentais da qualidade institucional e os princípios que norteiam a promoção da qualidade em instituições escolares. O objetivo principal é fornecer uma visão sobre como a qualidade na educação pode ser alcançada, considerando a diversidade de fatores que a compõem. O tema central do artigo é a qualidade na educação, examinando suas diferentes facetas, incluindo fatores internos e externos, a faixa etária dos estudantes, a estrutura física e tecnológica da instituição e o projeto pedagógico dos cursos. A metodologia adotada consiste em uma revisão de referências teóricas relevantes, com base em citações de autores como Xavier (1996), Dourado e Oliveira (2009), Cassol et al. (2012) e Longo (1996). Além disso, o artigo apresenta um exemplo da “Escola Técnica de Ceilândia", para exemplificar a aplicação prática dos princípios de gestão da qualidade na resolução de problemas que afetam a qualidade pedagógica e estrutural de uma instituição educacional. A conclusão destaca a importância de adotar uma abordagem panorâmica para a promoção da qualidade na educação, considerando as diversas dimensões que a compõem. Além disso, enfatiza a necessidade de incorporar novas metodologias de ensino, preparar os professores para abordagens pedagógicas modernas e buscar melhorias estruturais como parte do processo de promoção da qualidade na educação. Em última análise, o artigo oferece orientações práticas para instituições educacionais em busca de aprimorar seus padrões de qualidade e atender às necessidades em constante evolução da comunidade educacional.

The microbiome is known to play a role in many human diseases, but identifying key microbes and their functions generally requires large studies due to the vast number of species and genes, and the high levels of intra-individual and inter-individual variation. 16S amplicon sequencing of the rRNA gene is commonly used for large studies due to its comparatively low sequencing cost, but it has poor taxonomic and functional resolution. Deep shotgun sequencing is a more accurate and comprehensive alternative for small studies, but can be cost-prohibitive for biomarker discovery in large populations. Shallow or moderate-depth shotgun metagenomics may serve as a viable alternative to 16S sequencing for large-scale and/or dense longitudinal studies, but only if resolution and reproducibility are comparable. Here we applied both 16S and shallow shotgun stool microbiome sequencing to a cohort of 5 subjects sampled twice daily and weekly, with technical replication at the DNA extraction and the library preparation/sequencing steps, for a total of 80 16S samples and 80 shallow shotgun sequencing samples. We found that shallow shotgun sequencing produced lower technical variation and higher taxonomic resolution than 16S sequencing, at a much lower cost than deep shotgun sequencing. These findings suggest that shallow shotgun sequencing provides a more specific and more reproducible alternative to 16S sequencing for large-scale microbiome studies where costs prohibit deep shotgun sequencing and where bacterial species are expected to have good coverage in whole-genome reference databases.

Este relato de experiência refere-se à prática de estágio de grupos do curso de Psicologia, em uma universidade no interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Foram realizados dois grupos, tendo como objetivo conhecer as demandas das participantes, auxiliar na preparação prévia para aposentadoria e gerar reflexões sobre as questões que envolvem essa nova fase. O relato de experiência é essencial no desenvolvimento de conhecimentos científicos, pois permite uma aproximação do pesquisador com o campo a ser estudado. Assim, com a realização dos grupos, pode-se perceber o impacto na vida das participantes e das facilitadoras. Para as participantes, foi um espaço de escuta e de acolhimento nesse momento de transição, contribuindo para diminuição das angústias que assolam essa fase da vida, o que se comprovou quando as participantes traziam que saíam do grupo se sentindo mais leves. Já para as facilitadoras, as práticas de estágio possibilitaram uma aprendizagem sobre as questões que perpassam a aposentadoria e o envelhecimento, o que contribuiu para desconstruir diversos tabus, além da preparação e condução de grupos operativos.

Misinformation about the nutritional characteristics of dog diets can be an aggravating factor in some clinical conditions. In patients who require dietary sodium restriction, in addition to the sodium content from the feed, all possible forms of ingestion of this electrolyte must be considered. In this way, the snacks given to the dog and the pharmaceutical form in which the animal will receive the therapy can contribute to excess sodium consumption. In the present study, the sodium content of canine snacks such as biscuits indicated for adults and puppies, snacks (steaks) and palatable pills manipulated in the form of biscuits were analyzed. All samples denoted sodium contents that must be considered clinically. Considering the values of sodium in mg/100g of product and mg/unit of the product, the canine snacks analyzed showed higher levels of sodium (1025.21 ± 197.15mg/100g) compared to the palatable tablets (356.23 ± 150 ,27mg/100g) and dog biscuits (319.4 (199.3 – 1099.0mg/100g) (p<0.0001). Thus, the sodium content found in a snack unit can be equivalent to practically four units of biscuits or twenty tablets. Although there is no difference in sodium values/100g between palatable tablets and biscuits, the tablet unit has a lower sodium content in relation to biscuits and canine snacks (p<0.0001). Sodium content in canine biscuits and snacks, as well as in palatable tablets, can help the veterinarian in the most appropriate dietary prescription for the patient and in the promotion of healthier diets for dogs, since the labeling only informs the minimum content of this electrolyte.

The fundamental objective of this short presentation is to provide readers and intercultural practitioners with a brief exposé of key elements in neuroscientific research, linguistics, and cognitive psychology that are coming to the fore and may radically affect our understanding of culture and how it functions within us and between us.Contemporary concepts and practices in the field of intercultural learning and training applications need to be reexamined closely in the light of these fresh research elements.This paper proposes that they specifically be explored and evaluated in each of ten areas that are identified as potentially eliminating or seriously altering current thinking and/or praxis in the intercultural field.These areas are rather well established, but currently being further explored and developed by neurological research and cognitive science.They are likely to lead to new factors that will need to be taken into consideration in assessing intercultural thinking and practice in the near future.
