The article considers the changes taking place with the personnel potential of industrial enterprises in Omsk under conditions of digitalization of the economy, analyzes certain indicators of the personnel potential of the region: dynamics of demographic indicators, personnel data and needs for specialists, compliance of the level of qualifications and education with the requirements of the economy. The relevance lies in the possibility of increasing the effective development of the personnel potential of enterprises based on active actions by all participants in the regional market in modern conditions of digitalization. General scientific methods of comparison, analysis and generalization are used

This paper focuses on terrorist attacks carried out by so-called 'lone wolves' or 'lone actors'. It provides an analytical evaluation of the basic characteristics of these attackers and discusses possible access to their identification in society. To create the profile of a 'typical' lone wolf, we collected information from a database of lone wolves who committed their terrorist attacks in the United States, Canada, the European Union, Switzerland, Norway and Australia from 1998 to 2016. Based on these data, it was demonstrated that lone wolves are not homogenous group, therefore, there is no one 'typical' lone wolf. Instead, three main groups of lone wolves were identified: 1) lone wolves with a criminal past, 2) lone wolves with a mental illness and 3) young lone wolves coming from minority groups in the country. These characteristics could be used as an auxiliary tool by state security forces during identification of potential lone wolf terrorists.

This is the first in the series of engineering papers presenting new possibilities of coal-based power engineering, where the energy producing boiler is seen as a chemical reactor, which in the poly-generation process should be outputting only products, no waste. This is to help meeting the Circular Economy (CE) goals by the power sector. Rich chemical composition of flyash and conditions in which they arise, high temperatures and flue gas control systems, many times suggest to purposefully combine the processes of combustion of fuels with the processes of their energy-and-technological processing. Taking into account the huge interest in extracting aluminum compounds (alumina) from flyash, theoretical considerations were made in terms of possibilities of combing the combustion of coals rich in alumina compounds with the process of their extraction. Out of a very rich list of techniques for producing alumina, in the context of ashes the most interesting are the alkali-sintering methods. Of particular potential is the sintering-disintegrating method by Prof J. Grzymek, which has been already verified in industrial conditions in the cement sector, while in this paper it is analyzed from the angle of coal combustion and sintering of calcium-oxide containing ash.

New and rapid political and economic changes in Myanmar are increasing the pressures on the country’s forests. Yet, little is known about the past and current condition of these forests and how fast they are declining. We mapped forest cover in Myanmar through a consortium of international organizations and environmental non-governmental groups, using freely-available public domain data and open source software tools. We used Landsat satellite imagery to assess the condition and spatial distribution of Myanmar’s intact and degraded forests with special focus on changes in intact forest between 2002 and 2014. We found that forests cover 42,365,729 ha or 63% of Myanmar, making it one of the most forested countries in the region. However, severe logging, expanding plantations, and degradation pose increasing threats. Only 38% of the country’s forests can be considered intact with canopy cover >80%. Between 2002 and 2014, intact forests declined at a rate of 0.94% annually, totaling more than 2 million ha forest loss. Losses can be extremely high locally and we identified 9 townships as forest conversion hotspots. We also delineated 13 large (>100,000 ha) and contiguous intact forest landscapes, which are dispersed across Myanmar. The Northern Forest Complex supports four of these landscapes, totaling over 6.1 million ha of intact forest, followed by the Southern Forest Complex with three landscapes, comprising 1.5 million ha. These remaining contiguous forest landscape should have high priority for protection. Our project demonstrates how open source data and software can be used to develop and share critical information on forests when such data are not readily available elsewhere. We provide all data, code, and outputs freely via the internet at (for scripts: https://bitbucket.org/rsbiodiv/; for the data: http://geonode.themimu.info/layers/geonode%3Amyan_lvl2_smoothed_dec2015_resamp)
