Today's digital phased array architectures face the challenges of exponential growth in processing and digital data flow as arrays increase in size, element count, instantaneous bandwidth, and other factors. Traditional methods of beamforming, adaptive beamforming, and heretofore unexplored array functions cannot be sustained due to processing and data flow bottlenecks common to current digital architectures, which remain linked to inherently analog methods of beam-oriented array processing. DARPA's Scalable On-Array Processing (SOAP) [1] aims to look at new architectures that support new forms of on-array distributed processing architectures and data flow management to enable digital arrays to realize their full potential.

Compact artificial units with protrusions (such as Accropod™II or Xbloc ® ) are used in rubble mound breakwaters for their efficiency in extreme wave events.Recent research studies on such kind of units (Starbloc ® ) have focused on fluid processes close to the armour layer related its roughness, permeability and stability.Lessons drawn for the resulting knowledge of these research works have led to design a new armour unit offering stability, controlled run-up and easy placement. In this paper, 2D hydraulic stability tests are discussed.

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program provides a framework for high school students to obtain college credit and/or placement for work done in high school. Toward this end, the College Board outlines course descriptions and organizes examinations in several dozen disciplines, including computer science. To meet its goals, each AP course must align with college courses, so students taking an AP course will master needed content Several approaches are used to monitor this connection between AP courses and college-level courses. This session will review these approaches, considering how the AP CS A course matches introductory college computer science courses.

This BOF will provide an opportunity for high school and college faculty to discuss the AP CS A curriculum and to explore possibilities for collaborations and outreach activities between high schools and colleges.

A pollen and spore assemblage of 50 species was recovered from the late Paleocene (pollen zone P5) Almont locality in the Williston Basin, central North Dakota, USA. This palynoflora was extracted from the same layer containing a diverse megaflora preserved in a silicified shale with compressed leaves, and anatomically preserved fruits and seeds. More than 44 megafossil genera assignable to 26 extant plant families thus far have been recognized. The palynomorphs, which are of exceptional preservation, were examined using the same-grain technique with both light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Additional LM and SEM studies augmented the same grain studies to provide an understanding of sculptural features, and additional, rare taxa. Of particular note are the in situ pollen types known from catkins and pollen cones, allowing for confirmation of the dispersed pollen's systematic position by tying it to its parent plant. Taxa for which in situ pollen is known from Almont include taxodiaceous conifers, Betulaceae, Hamamelidaceae, Juglandaceae, and Platanaceae, and several catkins of uncertain affinities, some with monosulcate grains. This study emphasizes the role of palynology in providing an expanded view of the flora from palynomorphs for comparison with a rich megafossil assemblage.
