Özet Bu çalışmada BİT kullanımı, istihdam ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda 35 OECD ülkesine ait 2010-2019 yılları arasındaki veriler panel veri analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Çalışmada ekonomik büyüme değişkeni olarak, kişi başına düşen GSYİH oranı, istihdam değişkeni olarak, istidamın nüfusa oranı ve BİT değişkenleri olarak bireysel internet kullanıcıları, sabit geniş bant abonelikleri ve aktif mobil geniş bant abonelikleri baz alınmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda BİT kullanımını ifade eden bireysel internet kullanıcıları, sabit geniş bant abonelikleri değişkenleri istihdam ve ekonomik büyüme üzerine herhangi bir etki yaratmazken, aktif mobil geniş bant abonelikleri değişkeni istihdam ve ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif etki gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.

This project took place over 12 months (April 2017-March 2018) in a 31-bedded PICU. We identified and measured processes about AMS daily. Healthcare professionals, achieving success in these processes, received positive feedback via Learning from Excellence, during a 6 months intervention period. Selected reports were followed with appreciative inquiry interviews to reinforce positive feedback. We calculated antimicrobial consumption data from existing databases (antimicrobial doses dispensed divided by PICU bed-days). Health Care-Associated Infection (HCAI) rates were included as a balancing measure. Antimicrobial consumption was 6.5% lower during the intervention period compared with the matching period from the previous year. We reduced broad-spectrum antimicrobial (meropenem) consumption by 17.6%. Improvements in processes were mixed: a daily review of antimicrobials and documentation of antimicrobial prescription and administration significantly improved. Other processes failed to improve. HCAI rates did not change. Positive feedback can be used as a QI intervention to improve processes around AMS. This intervention may contribute to a reduction in antimicrobial consumption. Not all processes are impacted equally, and there may be a "dose-response" effect. Further evaluation would benefit from a trial study design in other settings.

ABSTRACTSystematic reviews and meta-analyses are means of summarizing and synthesizing research evidence in a given topic area. They can be used to define the current state of knowledge and how confident we can be in that knowledge, to identify evidence gaps, and to provide recommendations for policy and practice based on the best available evidence. At European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, our editorial stance is explicitly to encourage the conduct of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The purpose of this editorial is to provide some guidance to authors and journal referees on the (technical) features of good systematic reviews.

Psychiatry, the new textbook by Neel Burton, philosopher, psychiatrist and writer as he loves to present himself to its newest readership, is not the typical manual a student or a resident in psychiatry is used to. The author, seduced forever by the art of psychiatry as much as by the art of philosophy, is therefore challenged to make the discipline more accessible, interesting and vibrant to the students eager to delve into the hottest specialism on the market, considered not long time ago the ‘Cinderella’ of healthcare.

Coeliac disease (CD) is a growing healthcare concern in many parts of the world. Its clinical presentation is variable, the condition is under-diagnosed and the existing laboratory-based serological tests are underused. Simtomax® is a rapid, point-of-care CD screening test, which—unlike current screening methods—is not invasive, and there are no specific requirements for training in its use, equipment or storage. The test will considerably facilitate screening and allow for faster counselling and treatment. Validation studies confirmed the accuracy of Simtomax® relative to standard ELISA methods and the high negative predictive value and sensitivity observed further supported its use as a screening tool. The budgetary impact of replacing the current CD screening process with the Simtomax® testing kit showed a potential saving to the NHS of over £7 million per year.

In this interview Professor Barbara Rogoff explores the many ways in which culture shapes the course of human development, and illustrates this with several findings from her past as well as most recent work. These reveal the vital importance of growing up in a family and a community for the human child and participating, from early on, in their various rituals and practices. Building on and enriching cultural psychological sources, Professor Rogoff offers us a comprehensive framework with which to understand both cultural and developmental phenomena and, above all, their multiple intersections. Her suggestions will prove to be invaluable for all the students of culture and community life in their ontogenetic expression.

Richard A. Easterlin Edited by H. Hinte and K.F. Zimmermann Oxford University Press, 2010 The human being in pursuit of happiness is an ancient philosophical theme, revealing perhaps a perennial truth about us as individuals, as a species, and also about our societies. Consumerism, capitalism, globalisation. Terms we use to define the economic order in today’s world, or at least a ‘Western model’ of it. Where does happiness fit into this money-based equation? Can wealth or growth make us happy, or, better said, are they sufficient to make us happy? These are all questions situated at the core of Richard Easterlin’s concerns and reflected in the volume ‘Happiness, Growth, and the Life Cycle’ (Oxford University Press, 2010; edited by H. Hinte and K.F. Zimmermann). What is important to know about this book from the start is the fact that it addresses a variety of audiences beyond those purely interested in economic science. Its approach reflects a social science perspective and, as such, it is of interest for students of many disciplines, and, significantly for us here, for psychologists at large. Easterlin’s work represents an exemplary attempt to integrate economic and social psychological knowledge resulting in the enrichment of both. Unsurprisingly, the author is considered a founding father of behavioural economics and the economics of happiness. ‘Happiness, Growth, and the Life Cycle’ is a book that summarises key findings in these areas and leaves us not only with answers, but also with some important questions to think about.

To analyse the presence of women on the editorial teams of emergency medicine journals and the potential relationship between the pre-eminence of the journal and their presence. In this cross-sectional study, we examined 10 journals cited under the heading of 'Emergency Medicine' by Thomson Scientific in the Journal Citation Reports and 14 additional emergency journals not cited but which publish investigations in emergency medicine. We evaluated the editorial board posted on their websites, determining the number of men and women occupying executive tasks, as well as the sex of the editor-in-chief of each journal. We identified 372 people working on the editorial teams (mean: 15.5, SD: 13.5), 49 being women (13.2%). Of these 372 people, 28 were editors-in-chief but only one was female (3.6%). We found no statistical differences between indexed and nonindexed emergency journals regarding female representation on the editorial team or in the position of editor-in-chief. Neither did we find any relationship between female presence and the pre-eminence of the indexed journals using impact factor as a surrogate marker. Very few women are found either on editorial teams or in editor-in-chief positions in the emergency medicine journals, irrespective of the pre-eminence of the journal. It should be investigated whether a negative journal bias underlies these findings.
