Fent Innovative Software Solutions (Spain)

Traditional space computing relies on older, space proven hardware and software technologies with significantly lower performance compared to COTS processors. Recently a trend towards the use of Commercial-off the Shelf (COTS) processors in New Space, raised the potential of Space Cloud solutions, in which multiple users share the satellite. These solutions rely on the same software stacks used in conventional cloud deployments, namely Linux, which is not qualifiable for space use. In this paper, we describe the solution developed in the METASAT project, which provides an alternative space cloud infrastructure, fully qualifiable for institutional missions. In addition, we provide more details on the traditional space computing as well as new space and the implementation details of cloud space solutions. We demonstrate their deficiencies on institutional missions where qualification is required, and we describe in more detail the approach followed in the Horizon Europe METASAT project, showing its benefits in terms of space qualification.

PURPOSEThe use of all-trans-retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic trioxide (ATO) in the treatment of low- and intermediate-risk acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is the standard of care. We report the combined use of ATRA, ATO, and daunorubicin (DNR) in patients newly diagnosed with high-risk APL. The primary focus was to describe the drug dosage modifications made in the real-world scenario.METHODSIn this descriptive study, we included 16 out of 28 patients with high-risk APL from two tertiary care centers in South India (Vijayawada and Trichy) between January 2015 and December 2018. A unique approach of initiating ATRA at a dose of 25 mg/m2 on day 1 and escalation to 45 mg/m2 after cytoreduction with DNR and hydroxyurea was followed in all patients to avert differentiation syndrome, in the setting of hyperleukocytosis at presentation.RESULTSAll patients who survived the first 3 days of admission achieved complete remission after a median duration of 29 days. There were no deaths during induction or consolidation, and the regimen was well tolerated; two patients developed grade 3/4 peripheral neuropathy requiring treatment modification. After a median follow-up duration of 1.9 years, there were no hematologic or molecular relapses.CONCLUSIONThe study sheds light on the modifications made to recommended dosages of ATRA, ATO, and DNR to optimize outcomes in high-risk APL and reaffirms the importance of ATO use in the front-line setting to achieve durable responses with minimal toxicity.

Today's Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are witnessing a growingcomplexity in terms of the number of components and computationalpower in order to meet the requirements of nowadays applications. For this reason and due to their energy efficiency, Multiprocessor system-on-chips (MPSoC) are becomingubiquitous. Yet, since these systems are often used inbattery-driven and/or small housing use cases, the correctconfiguration of their power management techniques isan important factor in system design and can be relatedto possible safety aspects of the system. This calls for an adequate test framework, which is ableto observe the power management functionalities of CPS,even before the actual hardware platform is available. The use of virtual platforms for functional validation, that allows executing the CPS's real target platform compatibleapplication binary code on a generic host computer, is currentlybeing adopted by the industry. This work focuses on enhancing industrial OVP virtual platforms bya functional test framework of the power management techniques. We will demonstrate and evaluate how this framework maintains to observe the powermanagement techniques of the system under test. Theevaluation uses a Xilinx ZC702 board based on a Xilinx Zynq-7000MPSoC and its correspondent virtual platform in OVP.Results show that the functional test framework is ableto analyze the different modes of operation regarding thepower management techniques of the Xilinx Zynq processingsystem.

With the ever increasing industrial demand for bigger, faster and more efficient systems, a growing number of cores is integrated on a single chip. Additionally, their performance is further maximized by simultaneously executing as many processes as possible not regarding their criticality. Even safety critical domains like railway and avionics apply these paradigms under strict certification regulations. As the number of cores is continuously expanding, the importance of cost-effectiveness grows. One way to increase the cost-efficiency of such System on Chip (SoC) is to enhance the way the SoC handles its power resources. By increasing the power efficiency, the reliability of the SoC is raised, because the lifetime of the battery lengthens. Secondly, by having less energy consumed, the emitted heat is reduced in the SoC which translates into fewer cooling devices. Though energy efficiency has been thoroughly researched, there is no application of those power saving methods in safety critical domains yet. The EU project SAFEPOWER1 targets this research gap and aims to introduce certifiable methods to improve the power efficiency of mixed-criticality real-time systems (MCRTES). This paper will introduce the requirements that a power efficient SoC has to meet and the challenges such a SoC has to overcome.

Analytical formulas are proposed for calculating the axial stress and optimal working channel of the die for two models of the strain hardening of nonhollow circular rod. The hardening curve must be taken into account in calculating the stress state of the drawing process. Counterstress improves the stability of the optimal drawing angle.

With specified deformation in double and single drawplates, the increments in axial stress and drawing power in the working cones of each drawplate segment are calculated by various formulas. Formulas for the total increment in axial stress in the working cones of the segments of a composite (multisection) drawplate are proposed.

Ensembles of randomized trees such as Random Forests are among the most popular tools used in machine learning and data mining. Such algorithms work by introducing randomness in the induction of several decision trees before employing a voting scheme to give a prediction for unseen instances. In this paper, randomized trees ensembles are studied in the point of view of the basis functions they induce. We point out a connection with kernel target alignment, a measure of kernel quality, which suggests that randomization is a way to obtain a high alignment, leading to possibly low generalization error. The connection also suggests to post-process ensembles with sophisticated linear separators such as Support Vector Machines (SVM). Interestingly, post-processing gives experimentally better performances than a classical majority voting. We finish by comparing those results to an approximate infinite ensemble classifier very similar to the one introduced by Lin and Li. This methodology also shows strong learning abilities, comparable to ensemble post-processing.
