DC-Nanogrids can be used to efficiently interface renewable energy sources, and energy-storage, with AC and DC loads. This paper introduces a de-centralized energy management system for such a grid, based on a 4-DOF coordinated droopcontrol strategy, which steers the steady-state power flow between a heterogeneous mix of terminals. This approach enables a highly complex and flexible grid operation that is simultaneously robust, as it does not rely on real-time communication between terminals for stable operation. It is also demonstrated that this strategy does not impact the small-signal stability of the grid. The DCNanogrid has been validated in real-world conditions, over a wide variety of grid-topologies.
