This study presents findings from a quantitative content analysis of 975 German momfluencer Instagram accounts, exploring how motherhood is portrayed in the context of the platform economy. Grounded in a social constructivist perspective the analysis investigates how increasing self-professionalization—measured by follower count—affects self-presentation and thematic focus. Social media platforms reward visibility and engagement, prompting influencers to align with prevailing platform logics. The results show that with greater reach, momfluencers increasingly adopt more conforming and marketable representations of motherhood, suggesting a shift toward stereotypical portrayals. The study highlights how platform dynamics shape digital self-representation and reinforce exclusion in maternal representations. By examining how influencer practices both reflect and reproduce traditional gender roles, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of gendered labor in digital environments and its economic dimensions.

This study examines the ClosinGap association as a business platform that promotes social change, particularly in advancing Spanish companies’ commitment to gender equality within an institutional theory framework. Through a content analysis of 15 reports and interviews with ClosinGap's management, the research explores its foundational purpose, aligned with shared and blended value principles, and assesses its brand management strategy centered on "storydoing." The findings reveal ClosinGap's strategic coherence, strong brand identity, and effective communication in media and social networks. Academically, this article highlights how the platform creates value for both businesses and society, offering valuable insights for those designing and evaluating corporate gender equality policies.

ABSTRACT This article examines two documentaries that go beyond the audio-visual canon representing the guest worker from Turkey to Germany. Look, Listen Carefully (Özlem Sarıyıldız, 2021) and Gurbet is a Home Now (Pınar Öğrenci, 2021) provide a platform for migrant women to reveal their stories, expanding the sphere of representation of guest workers. Indeed, men’s labor is always at the forefront of the historical guest worker migration narrative, while women’s labor in the factory and domestic sphere has largely ignored. Moreover, the documentaries hold a mirror to the ongoing migration from Turkey to Germany. Both filmmakers are women and new wave migrants from Turkey to Germany, referencing a migration resulting from the growing authoritarian context in Turkey over the last ten years. The filmmakers examine the history of migration to understand their own position in Germany, engaging with the subjects of their documentaries to forge intergenerational links between migrant women. I argue that these documentaries are decolonial feminist works; they expand the sphere of representation of female guest workers, working against their historical invisibility, centralizing their voices, and contextualizing the power dynamics that have shaped their experiences.

This roundtable begins with each festival organizer explaining how the outbreak of the current war in Ukraine affected the planning and organizing of their respective film festivals. The discussion that unfolds conveys that the festival organizers stand quite united in their responses to the situation, despite differences in geographic proximity to ongoing hostilities on the ground and opportunities available for drafting up alternative scenarios. They engage in cultural diplomacy and collaborate with international colleagues to create visibility for Ukrainian culture and people. Moreover, there is a shared belief in the need for a boycott of Russian culture. The edited transcript presents detailed argumentation in favor of the Russian cultural boycott as well as responses to concrete issues that had media coverage. Other themes discussed concern the role cinema and film festivals can play in the face of war. The participants acknowledge the trauma that is being inflicted on the Ukrainian people and express hope that safety will be restored quickly, for this is a basic condition necessary to start thinking about and giving substance to the role of cinema and film festivals in dealing with the trauma of war.

Digital child and youth research is often conducted in schools involving minors. Corresponding research designs raise two related sets of problems: Ethical issues with regard to working with vulnerable groups like children and adolescents and access to these groups. The latter pertains to the concept of gatekeeping which is an ethical issue in and of itself if certain groups or areas of research are systematically excluded from empirical research and, consequently, from the resulting benefits. Thus, our study examines how perceived ethical challenges influence gatekeepers’ decisions to grant or deny access to investigate a potentially problematic topic: pupils’ group communication. We addressed this research question empirically via semi-structured in-depth interviews with eight educational gatekeepers in Germany inquiring their attitudes on research in schools in general and on the specific topic of pupils’ group communication via instant messaging as an exemplar of digital child and youth research. Approaching the question from two perspectives (procedural ethics and ethics in practice), we identified hierarchical power structures within multiple levels of gatekeeping and revealed rationales to deny access based on ethical considerations with regard to the given scenario of pupils’ group communication.

Abstract Basic medical ethics teaching given to medical and vocational nursing students in Germany should ensure that they are capable of ethical reflection, analysis and assessment. This should provide both professional groups with the ethical competencies they need in their everyday professional lives. Based on a survey conducted in 2017 at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, 62 physicians and 44 nurses were surveyed on their ethical competencies and the relevance of ethical decision-making in their daily working routines.Ethical decision-making is perceived as more stressful by the nurses than by the physicians, but the feeling of urgency for more qualification especially in the field of end-of-life (EoL) ethics is high. A total of 45% of the physicians and 52% of the nurses did not acquire their knowledge through their course of studies or vocational training, and EoL ethics is the most desired field for further education programmes in both professional groups. The results indicate that the quantitative and qualitative knowledge transfer of medical ethics within the framework of regular training may fall short of the set goals. Therefore, both a quantitative increase in medical-ethical training and an intensification in the context of cross-sectional topics in other subject groups should be discussed.KeywordsEthicsEthical decision-makingPhysiciansNursingProfessional educationEnd-of-life ethics

Abstract We review recent methods in 2D creative pattern generation and their control mechanisms, focusing on procedural methods. The review is motivated by an artist's perspective and investigates interactive pattern generation as a complex design problem. While the repetitive nature of patterns is well‐suited to algorithmic creation and automation, an artist needs more flexible control mechanisms for adaptable and inventive designs. We organize the state of the art around pattern design features, such as repetition, frames, curves, directionality, and single visual accents. Within those areas, we summarize and discuss the techniques' control mechanisms for enabling artist intent. The discussion includes questions of how input is given by the artist, what type of content the artist inputs, where the input affects the canvas spatially, and when input can be given in the timeline of the creation process. We categorize the available control mechanisms on an algorithmic level and categorize their input modes based on exemplars, parameterization, handling, filling, guiding, and placing interactions. To better understand the potential of the current techniques for creative design and to make such an investigation more manageable, we motivate our discussion with how navigation, transparency, variation, and stimulation enable creativity. We conclude our review by identifying possible new directions that can inspire innovation for artist‐centered creation processes and algorithms.
