Read moreH2O2/HOCl-based fluorescent probes for dynamically monitoring pathophysiological processes.
Serving as representative reactive oxygen species (ROS), H2O2 and HOCl play crucial roles in biological metabolism and intercellular oxidation-reduction dynamic equilibrium. The overexpression of H2O2/HOCl may cause a variety of diseases, such as acute and chronic inflammation, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. A major question in H2O2/HOCl-based pathological diagnosis is knowing how H2O2/HOCl concentrations can be accurately regulated to initiate a diagnosis and subsequently guarantee therapeutic effects in the course of medical advances. Fluorescent probes, with their great spatial and temporal resolutions, have been used in diverse pathophysiological processes and developed rapidly in the last five years. We summarise in this review the optical properties of H2O2/HOCl-responsive fluorescent probes and focus on effective distribution and dynamic monitoring by using pathophysiological models.

Environmental noise monitoring is an important link in improving the quality of life and strengthening environmental protection. In the bustling neighborhoods and residential areas of major cities, large-scale of environmental noise pollution have erected the streets. The design is mainly based on MCS89C5 1 microcontroller, which is the core of the audio detection system design. Capacitive electret microphone work by the principle of the sensor, the sound signal converts into electrical signal output when the microphone receiving noise, and then through the hardware circuit: amplify the signal, filtering A / D conversion circuit and software program control to complete the sound frequency detection function. Detection of the sound frequency display through the LED digital display, this design of the audio detection system is low cost, portable, can display environment noise digitally and so on. This can be widely used in industrial and mining enterprises, institutions and schools that need to measure and control the environment noise.

Read moreAssociations Between Excessive Sodium Intake and Smoking and Alcohol Intake Among Korean Men: KNHANES V
In this study, we evaluated the associations of smoking and alcohol intake, both independently and collectively, with sodium intake in Korean men. Subjects (6340 men) were from the fifth Korean National Health Examination Survey (2010–2012). Smoking-related factors included smoking status, urinary cotinine level, and pack-years of smoking. Food intake was assessed using a 24-h recall. The odds of excessive sodium intake were estimated using survey logistic regression analysis. The smoking rate was 44.1%. The geometric mean of the urinary cotinine level was 0.05 µg/mL, and the median (min–max) pack-years of smoking was 13.2 (0–180). When adjusted for related factors, the odds (95% confidence interval) of excessive sodium intake were 1.54 (1.00, 2.37), 1.55 (1.23, 1.94), 1.44 (1.07, 1.95), and 1.37 (1.11, 1.68) times higher in the group exposed to smoking and drinking than in the group that never smoked nor drank, the group that never smoked and drank <5 times per month, the group that did not currently smoke and never drank, and the group that did not currently smoke or drink <5 times per month, respectively. There was an interaction effect between smoking and alcohol intake (p-interaction = 0.02). The results suggest that simultaneous exposure to smoking and alcohol intake is associated with increased odds of excessive sodium intake.
Read moreHybrid Technique for Cervical Pedicle Screw Placement: Combination of Miniopen Surgery and Use of a Percutaneous Cannula System-Pilot Study.
Cadaver study and clinical application; a pilot study. To minimize muscle dissection and enhance accuracy of cervical pedicle screw (CPS) placement by using a percutaneous cannula system. Many studies have reported that the most frequent misplacement of CPSs is breach of the lateral wall; thus, an easy technique for securing medial convergence is required. We developed a percutaneous cannula system for this purpose and report the results of a cadaver study and its clinical application. A cadaver study was conducted to confirm the possibility of this percutaneous technique in 5 specimens (50 CPSs, C3-C7). Then, the technique was applied in 8 patients (40 CPSs, C3-C7). The surgical technique was a hybrid of miniopen surgery and the use of percutaneous cannula system under lateral fluoroscopic guidance. Entry holes were made in the open field and a cannula was used for tapping and insertion of CPSs. A stiff pedicle probe through the cannula was used to locate the pedicle in the lateral mass. In the cadaver study, there were 12 (24%) misplacements among 50 CPSs used. The hybrid technique was applied clinically in 4 traumatic, 2 degenerative, and 2 failed back surgery lesions. Thirty CPSs were inserted using the percutaneous cannula system and 10 were inserted using a cannula as a retractor. Misplacement occurred in 6.7% (n = 2) and 20% (n = 2) pedicles, respectively, and there were no symptomatic complications (total incidence, 10%). An additional incision for the cannula system can be made for 2-level CPS insertions. Use of the percutaneous cannula system facilitated a secure convergence angle for CPS insertion without extending muscle dissection or shifting cervical alignment because of muscle retraction. Moreover, this system can be used for CPS insertion in bull-necked patients. 3.

Phase evolution, microstructure, and microwave dielectric properties of Li 2 O and Al 2 O 3 doped Zn 1.9 Si 1.05 O 4 , i.e., Zn 1.9-2x Li x Al x -Si 1.05 O 4 , ceramics (x = 0.02 ~0.10) were investigated. The ceramics were densified by SiO 2 -rich liquid phase composed of the Li-Al-Si-O system, indicating that doped Li and Al contributed to the formation of the liquid. As the secondary phase, -spodumene solid solution with the composition of LiAlSi 3 O 8 was precipitated from the liquid during the cooling process. The dense ceramics were obtained for the specimens of x 0.06 showing the rapid densification above 1000 o C, implying that a certain amount of liquid is necessary to densify. The specimen of x = 0.06 sintered at 1050 o C exhibited good microwave dielectric properties; the dielectric constant and the quality factor (Q f 0 ) were 6.4 and 11,213 GHz, respectively.
