The digitalisation of educational processes is of increasing interest. The area of student mobility in particular can benefit greatly from digitalised processes. However, the number of projects is constantly increasing, and it is a challenge to keep track of them. Therefore, this paper highlights the diverse and projects in the EU, regarding innovations in digitization of education processes (at EDU, HEI, PEI level) and student mobility administration based on different standards and integration of security are presented, as well as views/results from ongoing projects (EMREX/ELMO, Europass/EDCI, eIDAS, EUid,Verifiable Credentials, DiBiHo, Kolibri, NBP initiative, PIM, OZG implementation for SIS, Self-Souverain Identities SSI).Future research can address extensive interoperability in detailed Layering Concepts for data and protocols - aiding some existing island solutions in standards and platforms in an independent way, also supporting internationalisation strategies.

How do you create a fictional story out of an historical period? What do you need to know about the people, the places, the events? What's the better inspiration: historical scholarship or popular knowledge? A writer's guide to Ancient Rome serves as inspiration and a guide to the Roman population, economy, laws, leisure, and religion for the author, student, general reader seeking an introduction to what made the Romans tick. The Guide considers trends and themes from roughly 200 BCE to 200 CE with the occasional foray into the antecedents and legacy on either side of the period. Each chapter explicates its main themes with examples from the original sources. Throughout are suggestions for resources to mine for the subject at hand and particular bits affected by scholarly debate and changing interpretation based on new discoveries or reinterpretation of written and material remains. It's up to you whether or not you will produce a work of careful verisimilitude or anachronistic silliness (or one of the flavours in between). That's your call as creator. This little guide is but a brief survey of a vast quantity of resources, sources, and scholarship on the Classical world that is available for reflection, evaluation, interpretation, and creativity. It is intended to open doors for further reading and consideration as you construct your own Roman world – it's a welcome mat inviting you in to listen to the stories of the Romans and to contribute tales of your own.

We are shaped by our memories and by others' memories of us. That statement may be a truism, but there are few places better than a Festschrift where one can get away with starting a paper in such a manner. And it is a valuable truism. Those memories which shape us, as so many studies have shown, are shaped by place, and the places themselves are shaped by memory. This has been demonstrated in neuroscientific terms over the last four decades by the identification of the role of 'place cells' within the hippocampus of the brain linked to the subjective 'sense of place' , in part linked to the creation of personal memory, while the significance of Lieux de mmoire in French historiography provides an endorsement of what many of us already feel.1 The development of the spatial turn has proved a particularly rich field in the study of Anglo-Saxon history and culture: Nicholas Howe showed the ways in which the experiences of place-those of the modern scholar and the medieval sense of place-can collide in a visit to a location, often in a way that forces us to consider how we approach the past.2 A range of work on Anglo-Saxon landscapes, addressing the context of place-names, settlement, and perception has proved particularly fruitful in the last decade or so.3 1

This paper provides an overview of the issues raised during a 1990 seminar on the effects of programmes and policies for foreign students and study abroad. The seminar was organised by the Hochschul-Informations-System in co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). In particular, this paper addresses those concerns related to national policy and institutional responses in the light of changing patterns of foreign student flows and against the background of the new global economic and political setting.
