La filosofía de género, implica cambios al interior del concepto de la masculinidad y la manera en cómo este, se encuentra de forma cambiante en los hombres. Esta visión de lo masculino en el Estado de Tabasco, abarca la cuestión biológica, social e incluso filosófica, de acuerdo con las nuevas tendencias y estilos de vida ligados a la modernidad y la manera en cómo se combinan con su género opuesto, así como las problemáticas que son resultado de la interacción ontológica del concepto y del campo de estudio de la filosofía aplicada. La masculinidad como un estereotipo de identidad filosófica, representa una percepción diferente, ya que se ajusta a las perspectivas sociales y culturales de los varones e incluso de las propias mujeres de este siglo, por lo tanto, es imprescindible entender y asociar este término bajo la esencia de la filosofía de género. Esta investigación abarca conceptos partiendo de la biología humana y contrastando a la bioética para dar una explicación de este constructo social que aparentemente no representa ninguna problemática, pero actualmente está enfrentando desventajas ante corrientes feministas que buscan sacar ventaja desde perspectivas jurídicas, sociales y culturales, violando derechos y generando injusticia e inequidad y por lo tanto, esto podría definir las nuevas identidades de los varones en Tabasco, modificando así; los conceptos asociados. Dentro del campo de la filosofía aplicada se busca identificar una problemática y encontrar soluciones que logren responder preguntas relacionadas con la forma de vivir y pensar de los varones que modifican sus comportamientos y formas de pensar, para adaptarse a este nuevo entorno que podría ser violento

The MAM domain-containing glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor 1 (MDGA1) gene, which encodes a protein involved in synaptic inhibition, has been identified as a potential risk gene for restless legs syndrome. A recent study in the Chinese population described increased MDGA1 methylation levels in patients with idiopathic RLS (iRLS) compared to healthy controls. In this study, we investigated the possible association between the most common variants in the MDGA1 gene and the risk for iRLS in a Caucasian Spanish population. We assessed the frequencies of MDGA1 rs10947690, MDGA1 rs61151079, and MDGA1 rs79792089 genotypes and allelic variants in 263 patients with idiopathic RLS and 280 healthy controls using a specific TaqMan-based qPCR assay. We also analyzed the possible influence of the genotype frequencies on several variables, including age at the onset of RLS, gender, a family history of RLS, and response to drugs commonly used in the treatment of RLS. The frequencies of the genotypes and allelic variants of the three common missense SNVs studied did not differ significantly between RLS patients and controls, neither in the whole series nor when analyzing each gender separately; were not correlated with age at onset and the severity of RLS assessed by the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group Rating Scale (IRLSSGRS); and were not related to a family history of RLS or the pharmacological response to dopamine agonists, clonazepam, or gabaergic drugs. Our findings suggest that common missense SNVs in the MDGA1 gene are not associated with the risk of developing idiopathic RLS in Caucasian Spanish people.

BackgroundSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the first-line treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD), but initial outcomes can be modest.AimsTo compare SSRI dose optimisation with four alternative second-line strategies in MDD patients unresponsive to an SSRI.MethodOf 257 participants, 51 were randomised to SSRI dose optimisation (SSRI-Opt), 46 to lithium augmentation (SSRI+Li), 48 to nortriptyline combination (SSRI+NTP), 55 to switch to venlafaxine (VEN) and 57 to problem-solving therapy (SSRI+PST). Primary outcomes were week-6 response/remission rates, assessed by blinded evaluators using the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS-17). Changes in HDRS-17 scores, global improvement and safety outcomes were also explored. EudraCT No. 2007-002130-11.ResultsAlternative second-line strategies led to higher response (28.2% v. 14.3%, odds ratio = 2.36 [95% CI 1.0–5.6], p = 0.05) and remission (16.9% v. 12.2%, odds ratio = 1.46, [95% CI 0.57–3.71], p = 0.27) rates, with greater HDRS-17 score reductions (−2.6 [95% CI −4.9 to −0.4], p = 0.021]) than SSRI-Opt. Significant/marginally significant effects were only observed in both response rates and HDRS-17 decreases for VEN (odds ratio = 2.53 [95% CI 0.94–6.80], p = 0.067; HDRS-17 difference: −2.7 [95% CI −5.5 to 0.0], p = 0.054) and for SSRI+PST (odds ratio = 2.46 [95% CI 0.92 to 6.62], p = 0.074; HDRS-17 difference: −3.1 [95% CI −5.8 to −0.3], p = 0.032). The SSRI+PST group reported the fewest adverse effects, while SSRI+NTP experienced the most (28.1% v. 75%; p < 0.01), largely mild.ConclusionsPatients with MDD and insufficient response to SSRIs would benefit from any other second-line strategy aside from dose optimisation. With limited statistical power, switching to venlafaxine and adding psychotherapy yielded the most consistent results in the DEPRE'5 study.

The pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) is not completely understood, but genetic factors, autoimmunity, inflammation, demyelination, and neurodegeneration seem to play a significant role. Data from analyses of central nervous system autopsy material from patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, as well as from studies in the main experimental model of multiple sclerosis, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), suggest the possibility of a role of oxidative stress as well. In this narrative review, we summarize the main data from studies reported on oxidative stress markers in patients diagnosed with MS and in experimental models of MS (mainly EAE), and case-control association studies on the possible association of candidate genes related to oxidative stress with risk for MS. Most studies have shown an increase in markers of oxidative stress, a decrease in antioxidant substances, or both, with cerebrospinal fluid and serum/plasma malonyl-dialdehyde being the most reliable markers. This topic requires further prospective, multicenter studies with a long-term follow-up period involving a large number of patients with MS and controls.

Background and ImportanceNatalizumab (NTZ) is a monoclonal antibody which targets a protein called α4β1 integrin on white blood cells involved in inflammation that has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in reducing relapse rates and disability progression in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The main risk of treatment with NTZ is the possibility of developing progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, which is related to JC virus positivity and the number of NTZ infusions. This has led us to search an optimal dosing strategy.Aim and ObjectivesIn this study, we explore the impact of extending the dosing interval of NTZ from every four weeks to every six weeks in RRMS patients.Material and MethodsA retrospective observational study was carried out in a general hospital from January 2023 to September 2023. RRMS patients who had been receiving Natalizumab every four weeks for at least one year and subsequently switched to a six-week dosing interval were included. Clinical data were collected and analysed including relapse rates, disability progression, and adverse events.Results11 RRMS patients were included. None of them had new focal neurological symptoms, as evidenced by stable MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) findings and absence of clinical relapses. Importantly, no cases of PML or other serious adverse events were reported during the study period. One patient reported visual worsening in the left eye but this was attributed to other factors unrelated to the dosing interval change.Conclusion and RelevanceIn this study, the extension of Natalizumab dosing interval in RRMS patients demonstrated promising results, including stable disease activity and an absence of PML cases.The absence of PML cases in our cohort is particularly encouraging, suggesting that the risk of PML may not be significantly increased with this extended dosing regimen.This dosing strategy may offer a balance between maintaining therapeutic efficacy and minimising potential safety concerns.
