Our study distinguishes between maladaptive and adaptive perfectionism and examines their relationships with burnout and job satisfaction. A quantitative online survey was conducted in Hungary with 478 participants (67% women, with a mean age of 29) via social media. The survey covered the staff of both Hungarian and foreign-owned companies, which were of different sizes. Participants were employed adults selected to obtain a varied sample across regions, education levels, and job positions. Data were analyzed using t-tests, ANOVA, factor analysis, and K-means clustering in SPSS to evaluate three hypotheses regarding the relationships between perfectionism and gender, job role, company ownership, burnout, and life satisfaction. Results showed that self-doubt-driven perfectionism strongly correlated with a higher burnout rate, whereas purpose-driven perfectionism was linked to greater life satisfaction. Contrary to assumptions, demographic factors such as gender, role, or company ownership did not consistently predict perfectionism levels. Two main perfectionism patterns – demanding perfection and doubt-driven – were identified, each producing different psychological outcomes.

The growing threat of hijacked journals poses a significant challenge to the integrity of academic publishing. As an accurate scale of the issue remains unknown, practical methods for detecting previously unidentified hijacked journals are critically needed. This study employs a linkage analysis to investigate the outbound links of six known hijacked medical journals. The analysis successfully uncovered four additional suspected hijacked journals, demonstrating that analyzing their linkage structure can effectively map out their networks and lead to the detection of new ones. Our findings highlight the value of this method in expanding the current blocklist of detected hijacked journals and mitigating their harmful impact on scholarly communication. It appears that the same hijacker(s) may be responsible for the network of hijacked journals, and any approach to bulk analyze these journals could help detect new ones.

This study systematically examines how corporate organizations can bridge gaps in employees’ financial literacy in African developing regions. Guided by four research questions, the study evaluates current financial literacy levels, existing corporate financial literacy initiatives, barriers to effective implementation, and potential solutions. Using a systematic approach and the PRISMA framework, data was extracted from peer-reviewed journals, corporate documents, and grey literature. Findings indicate persistently low financial literacy among employees, with notable deficiencies across industries. The study highlights that financial education can significantly enhance financial decision- making, reduce employee stress, and contribute to economic development. Key recommendations include integrating financial literacy into corporate governance, leveraging online technological platforms, aligning financial literacy initiatives with corporate social responsibility strategies, and conducting periodic assessments to address evolving employee needs. These insights position corporate organizations as crucial agents in mitigating financial illiteracy, promoting financial stability, and preparing the workforce for informed financial decisions.

This research investigates the efficacy of transformer architectures in classifying sustainability claims made by cryptocurrency projects, addressing a critical gap in automated environmental impact assessment of digital assets. Employing design science research (DSR) methodology, we develop and empirically evaluate a novel framework comparing five state-of-the-art transformer models across multiple performance dimensions. Through rigorous analysis of 300 synthetic cryptocurrency sustainability news articles, we demonstrate that RoBERTa-large-MNLI achieves optimal performance (F1: 1.00) with exceptional prediction stability (0.98)—meaning highly consistent predictions across varied inputs—and minimal entropy (0.05)—indicating strong confidence in classification decisions—albeit at higher computational costs. Our findings challenge conventional assumptions about the inverse relationship between model complexity and prediction reliability in specialized financial domains. The results advance theoretical understanding of transfer learning in sustainable finance while establishing quantitative benchmarks for automated environmental claim verification. This research contributes to both academic literature and regulatory frameworks by providing empirically validated methodologies for distinguishing between substantive and symbolic environmental initiatives in cryptocurrency markets. The findings provide valuable guidelines for cryptocurrency projects, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies seeking to implement automated sustainability assessment systems, while establishing a foundation for future research in the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainable finance.

The importance of sea-ice loss on the Arctic amplification of near-surface warming remains contentious, as Arctic amplification emerges even in model experiments with disabled surface-albedo feedback. Here we show that the characteristics and underlying dynamics of Arctic amplification may change greatly in a future ice-free climate using a series of climate model experiments. Our analysis indicates that although Arctic amplification continues over the 22nd century, it weakens markedly with a less distinct seasonality in a future ice-free climate. These changes are found to occur because the strength and seasonality of Arctic amplification in the current climate are attributed mainly to a tight coupling between cold-season lapse-rate feedback and sunlit-season surface-albedo feedback. The substantial differences in the characteristics of simulated Arctic amplification between the current and future ice-free climate therefore suggest that the presence of Arctic sea ice is an essential component of the current Arctic amplification regime. Arctic amplification persists even in a year-round sea ice-free state due to greenhouse gas forcing, but weakens in a future year-round sea ice-free climate, implying Arctic sea ice’s importance, according to analysis of climate model simulations.

Summary The transformation of the Roman world (4th-9th centuries CE) culminating in the dissolution of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century marked a fundamental transition in European history. "Barbarian" groups and Roman provincial societies merged into enduring political frameworks in some places but not in others. Key questions persist regarding the regionally specific nature of this transformation. Here, we present one of the most densely sampled early medieval datasets to date, enabling the reconstruction of a post-Roman polity at an unprecedented micro-regional resolution. Our integrated genetic and archaeological analysis of two Roman-period (n=68) and five post-Roman (n=246) sites from the Little Hungarian Plain, a former Roman frontier region, reveals a significant increase in Northern European genetic ancestry, likely reflecting a large-scale population movement into the region. Moreover, while all post-Roman sites, dated to the time of the Langobard Kingdom, share similar genetic profiles, burial practices, and material culture, they display distinct patterns of social organization, especially regarding the role that biological relatedness played in each community. Our results suggest that distinct social hierarchies might have existed between sites, and their intensive connectivity probably formed the basis for regional-level organisation within the post-Roman polity. Our study provides a framework for investigating how new polities take shape after the collapse of major political systems. Applied more broadly, this approach can deepen our understanding of societal transformation across early medieval Europe and beyond, offering a richer and more nuanced view of the human past than ever before.
