This work is a bibliographical study with a qualitative analysis, the aim of which is to discuss and report on the importance of games and play in early childhood education for the integral development of children, both in physical aspects and in social and psychosocial aspects. In order to carry this out, research was carried out in the Capes, Scielo and Google Scholar databases. Authors such as Piaget (1973), Winnicott (1975) and Vygotsk (1984), among others, were also used. Given that many professionals find it difficult to understand the universe of play and the importance of games and play for the child's integral development, there is a need to train educators, guide parents and society about the importance of working with play in childhood and that play is part of pleasurable learning and is not just leisure for the child.

A complete framework for supporting the monitoring and orchestration of Smart-Grid infrastructure is analyzed in this chapter. The solution presented has been developed by Inaccess since 2010, a global leader in Renewable Energy providing a mix of innovative hardware, intelligent software and value-added services to its clients worldwide. Inaccess Power Plant Controller (PPC) is one of its most innovative products, an intelligent vendor-independent system offering grid compliance, PV plant (or other type) control and yield maximization. Inaccess PPC is constantly evolving as more features are added in order to ensure compliance to the increasingly demanding grid code requirements globally while providing better and more effective management of the clients renewable asset. The PPC is also interoperable with Inaccess Central Monitoring System (CMS), offered for extended monitoring, visualization, reports and analytics.

The telephony world is consistently moving to the transmission of voice through packet networks, so as to unify data and voice and to enable the provisioning of new services in a less costly manner. Service providers are offloading the task of converting analog voice to VoIP to the end-points. In this paper we present an IP-PBX/VoIP Gateway system based on a single, multi-core SoC that performs all the required processing. The system targets the low density market of home gateways and SME IP-PBXs, where cost is the main factor. We prove it is feasible to implement a 4-channel IP-PBX/VoIP gateway on a SoC based purely on both software and hardware provided by the open-source community, reducing both upfront and final product costs thus allowing new players into the market. The highly configurable design allows the integration of multiple embedded cores in the same die increasing channel density while reducing clock cycles per channel. The idea of using one or more open-source embedded cores can be extended to many different applications requiring moderate DSP performance, resulting in a “DSP-free”, low-cost system, with minimal design effort.

In this paper we describe the ATRACO (Adaptive and TRusted Ambient eCOlogies) approach towards next generation ambient intelligent environments. Several agents, such as a Fuzzy Task Agent with learning capabilities and an Interaction Agent collaborate in a goal-related Activity Sphere and adapt heterogeneous artifacts within the sphere in order to support the user to fulfill tasks. All components work on a dynamic Sphere Ontology, which forms the main knowledge base of the ecology. The presented prototype is able to realize the Goal “Feel comfortable at home after work” and was implemented in an existing intelligent environment.

Smart home automation technologies have been commercially available already, however the interoperability problems of different hardware and software components, the limited service scalability and the complexity of configuration and use prevent their mass adoption. In this paper we present a Connected Home Platform and Development Framework for easy design, development and deployment of smart home services offering a wealth of new exciting smart home experience on top of existing broadband service bundles. The Home Controller is used to integrate connectivity with home devices of various home control technologies. The Service Platform embeds the use of OSGi technology in the Home Controller that enables the OSGi-literate engineer to quickly develop and deploy home services utilising the widely adopted automation technologies. The different home network subsystems are interfaced in a common way through the Network Adaptation Layer, a set of OSGi components known as ROCob. Following the ROCob API Specification, a developer may build various applications, such as presentation layer applications (e.g. a web based UI), monitoring applications that collect data and send them to a backbone server, and other home control and pervasive applications.
