Indonesia's archipelagic geography presents unique challenges in managing a maritime-based nation. The complexity and disparities are particularly challenging and require a greater budget and commitment from the government, stakeholders, and all Indonesian people. The 1957 Djuanda Declaration, ratified by the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCHLOS), marked international recognition of Indonesia's status as a large archipelagic nation. However, the utilization of marine resources has not been maximized, necessitating comprehensive, holistic, and integral efforts, including strengthening port governance through smart ports.Smart ports are expected to improve the performance of ports throughout Indonesia, meet international standards, and be highly competitive. Governance must be strengthened in such a way as to achieve good governance, while simultaneously strengthening the quality of human resources and utilizing digital technologies in the maritime sector, such as smart ports.Smart ports, as a port subsystem, have been implemented in various ports worldwide, such as the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), and the Port of Hamburg, including ports in Indonesia managed by PELINDO.This study employed a qualitative descriptive design with a thematic narrative approach to identify and describe efforts to strengthen smart port-based port governance in Indonesia. Data were collected from various publications from credible official institutions for literature review. The data were then analyzed qualitatively and narrated based on similar themes and comprehensively compared. The data analysis concluded that strengthening smart port-based port governance in Indonesia is being implemented through various efforts, including: strengthening smart port-based port governance has significant potential to improve the efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness of Indonesian ports. Implementation includes strengthening: a) Operational Digitalization; b) Service Optimization: Use of Smart Vision 3D, Berth Monitoring, and Gate & Weighbridge (Weighbridge); c) Data Integration; c) Strengthening Digital Infrastructure; d) Talent Human Resource Development; e) Electrification and Equipment Digitalization; f) Eco-Friendly Terminals.

The goal of this study was to look at speaking problems among secondary school students by closely watching how their speaking skills grew during the learning process. This study used a collaborative classroom action research method, where the researchers worked together with the Year 11 English teacher at SMA N 8 Medan instead of doing the research on their own. Before the test, the average score was 58.65, but after the test, it went up to 73.78. These results show that students' speaking skills improved a lot after using the narrative approach. When comparing the scores before and after the teaching strategies were used, there was a big difference in how well the students performed. The data analysis supports the first research question by showing that using visualization tactics really helps improve the speaking skills of students at SMA N 8 Medan. More research shows that visualization tactics help students get better at speaking, as seen from the increase in scores from 55 to 96. Comparing the pre-test and post-test scores shows a big difference in student performance before and after applying the teaching strategies. The results of the data analysis confirm the first research question by showing that using visualization tactics effectively improves the speaking skills of students at SMA N 8 Medan. Further research shows that visualization tactics help students improve their speaking skills, as seen from the increase in scores from 55 to 96.

English writing proficiency is an essential skill for hospitality students, particularly in the context of the global hospitality industry, which requires professional communication with international tourists. However, many students struggle with grammar, vocabulary selection, and effective sentence structuring. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a valuable tool in language learning, offering automated feedback, grammar correction, and stylistic suggestions. This study aims to implement AI technology in English writing instruction and analyze its effectiveness for hospitality students. The Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) was employed to design and evaluate AI-based writing instruction. Writing evaluation included both AI-assisted and non-AI tasks to distinguish the improvement from tool-dependent performance. The findings showed significant improvements in writing performance: grammar scores increased from a mean of 62 to 83 (34% improvement), vocabulary scores from 65 to 85 (31% improvement), and structure and cohesion from 60 to 82 (37% improvement). Although these gains demonstrate the potential of AI to support writing development, analysis of no-AI writing tasks indicated that part of the improvement stemmed from students’ increased ability to leverage AI feedback effectively. Overall writing proficiency improved from 64 to 84, representing 31% gain. Findings suggest that AI integration enhances writing skills, fosters interactive and adaptive learning, and aligns with the professional demands of the global hospitality industry.

This study examines the legal force of stamp duty in civil agreements by analyzing its relationship with contractual validity and evidentiary strength under the Indonesian Civil Code. Using a normative juridical approach, the research focuses on statutory regulations, legal doctrines, and scholarly works related to contract law, evidentiary law, and stamp duty regulation. The findings demonstrate that stamp duty does not constitute a legal requirement for the validity of a civil agreement, as contractual validity is determined solely by the fulfillment of subjective and objective requirements stipulated in Article 1320 of the Civil Code. Stamp duty functions primarily as an administrative and fiscal instrument connected to the use of written documents as evidence in civil proceedings. Both conventional stamps and electronic stamps serve an equivalent role in supporting documentary evidence without altering the substantive legal relationship created by the parties’ consent. The study highlights the importance of distinguishing between contractual validity and evidentiary requirements to avoid legal misconceptions in contractual practices. Clarifying the legal position of stamp duty contributes to greater legal certainty and supports the adaptation of civil law to digital transactions while preserving fundamental principles of contract law.
