Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) applications reshape the trend of warehouse monitoring systems allowing them to track and locate massive numbers of logistic entities in real-time. To support the tasks, classic Radio Frequency (RF)-based localization approaches (e.g. triangulation and trilateration) confront challenges due to multi-path fading and signal loss in noisy warehouse environment. In this paper, we investigate machine learning methods using a new grid-based WSN platform called Sensor Floor that can overcome the issues. Sensor Floor consists of 345 nodes installed across the floor of our logistic research hall with dual-band RF and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors. Our goal is to localize all logistic entities, for this study we use a mobile robot. We record distributed sensing measurements of Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and IMU values as the dataset and position tracking from Vicon system as the ground truth. The asynchronous collected data is pre-processed and trained using Random Forest and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The CNN model with regularization outperforms the Random Forest in terms of localization accuracy with ≈ 15 cm. Moreover, the CNN architecture can be configured flexibly depending on the scenario in the warehouse. The Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) (1), introduced safety features on the packages of medicines, which facilitates the verification of the authenticity of a medicine. The details of implementing a Europe-wide system were included in the Delegated Regulation (2). The regulation did not introduce any operational procedures for hospital pharmacies. Thus, different healthcare institutions implemented and evolved existing solutions to meet the requirements of the regulation. Regulatory and operational implications already affected the dispensing procedures in hospital pharmacies. Abstract Digital integration of a supply chain is the result of changing the essence of existing relationships between enterprises from a transactional concept to a collaborative concept. The essence of it is based on mutual trust and implementation of a “win–win” strategy, which leads to the creation of a logistics partnership. Logistics partnerships between the participants of the integrated supply chain give an effective chance opposing competition and creating premises to meet the needs of customers. What is more, information sharing and coordination between buyers and vendors have been considered as useful strategies to improve supply chain performance (Huang 2003). The purpose of the article is to introduce the new collaboration paradigm called Physical Internet and its need of innovative IT solutions development that will support digital integration. Abstract The dynamic growth of trade in goods in Polish ports recorded in recent years, as well as the growing requirements of exporters and importers concerning efficiency, time and reduction of cargo handling costs and coordination of logistic port processes, create a number of requirements for fast and modern information circulation and safe transmission of documents. This chapter focuses on the complexity of information exchange in port operations. Digitalisation of processes for a more efficient exchange of information can be a solution. The paper describes the course of study on the stock replenishment process in a production company. The study has proven that improvement in the information exchange between the Producer and the Supplier of raw materials brings business-related benefits. The example shown concerns the reduction of stock of a selected material, replenished as part of a system based on the reorder point. The automation of activities related to information processing has shortened the duration of certain stages of stock replenishment, which, on the basis of basic dependencies within the replenishment system, has allowed reducing the safety stock kept to ensure production continuity in conditions of uncertain demand. It was possible to introduce changes in the replenishment process (both on the Producer’s and the Supplier’s part) owing to a profound analysis of the process itself. The example presented applies the BPMN 2.0 standard and the iGrafx tool.
