Estimation of Missing Shear Strength Parameters of a Borehole Profile Using Machine Learning Model
Neural Networks and Deep Learning in Data‐Driven Modeling
In deep learning methods to estimate system parameters and evaluate the global Lipschitz condition with respect to input/output data, it is possible for an unknown-dynamic iterative learning control system. Neuron models: M-P including habituation network neurons can enhance convolutional network performance via nonassociative training. A novel solution to this problem is a deep layer-by-layer supervised pretraining framework utilizing stacked supervised encoder–decoder, which jointly prelearns the feature extraction and also soft sensor modeling in industrial processes. The BLEU helps the architect to unroll higher computationally layers and connection between them in feed forward as well as recurrent neural network architectures. Leveraging offline data mining with hardware design results in intelligent memory systems, which balances energy efficiency and cost against classification accuracy during execution. The mixture of synaptic- and SRAM-type computation greatly improves power efficiency at only minor accuracy degradation for state-of-the-art deep learning models. Combining theoretical research and practical applications, this interdisciplinary effort ultimately leads to technological advances, driving technological advancements across various domains. Transfer learning, leveraging pretrained models, enhances learning efficiency and performance across tasks. Academics or educational field and industry together highlight the dynamic nature of technological progress and its societal impact.

From Musical Writings To Writing Music: Book-Writing Leading to Music School in Nineteenth-Century Calcutta
Print created the urge to innovate new modalities of musical knowledge production and dissemination in nineteenth-century Bengal. Publication of music books made the bifurcation between music theory and practice clearer, but only as a textual category. As the literature suggests, these were two categories for organizing musical knowledge, intimately entwined, where one produces the other and also doesn't exist without each other. The technology of ‘swaralipi’ (musical notation) used in the modern printed books materialized the project of disseminating music to the reader who could now ‘read’ the music from the book. For some book writers, music books were meant to be a replacement for the oral tutelage, published as ‘self-instructors’. But, on the contrary, the most prolific book-writers of the time used their books as the basis of oral tutelage in the music school. In the modern setting of the music school, the person of the ‘guru’ or ‘ustad’ was replaced by the formalized, systematic teaching of the ‘professors’ of music. Music books, as the medium of modern music pedagogy, thus changed not only the way students learned – making it possible to learn from the book with no instructor – but also the role of teachers, whose teaching was validated by the book. The music books came to function as the ‘modern shastras’ – to exercise regulatory authority over music practice, and how music is learned and taught. The ‘orality’ of music emerges as a liminal space in the gap between the writings on music and the writing of music. What emerges is an unlikely milieu where a new form of musical education is devised, the possibility of an education without a guru is conceived, and the schema of musical notation brings the entire process to life.

Energy in its varied forms and applications has become the main driver of today's modern society. However, recent changes in power demand and climatic changes (de-carbonization policy) has awakened the need to rethink through the current energy generating and distribution system. This led to the exploration of other energy sources of which renewable energy (like thermal, solar and wind energy) is fast becoming an integral part of most energy system. However, this innovative and promising energy source is highly unreliable in maintaining a constant peak power that matches demand. Energy storage systems have thus been highlighted as a solution in managing such imbalances and maintaining the stability of supply. Energy storage technologies absorb and store energy, and release it on demand. This includes gravitational potential energy (pumped hydroelectric), chemical energy (batteries), kinetic energy (flywheels or compressed air), and energy in the form of electrical (capacitors) and magnetic fields. This paper provides a detailed and comprehensive overview of some of the state-of-the-art energy storage technologies, its evolution, classification, and comparison along with various area of applications. Also highlighted in this paper is a plethora of power electronic Interface technologies that plays a significant role in enabling optimum performance and utilization of energy storage systems in different areas of application.
Read moreMicro Air Vehicles in India - An Overview
The genesis of the Micro Air Vehicles (MICAV) program and its progress in the last decade is discussed. Fixed, rotary and flapping wing MICAVs (300 mm class) have been successfully flown using remote control by Educational Institutions, Laboratories and enthusiastic entrepreneurs, transmitting video imagery. They are now moving on to autonomous control and its integration with navigation and guidance. The need for micro-sensors has led to work on convergence of micro, nano, bio, info and cogno technologies which are discussed. The need for simulation and cooperative flying of MICAVs with UGVs is stressed and finally the thrust areas for the next five years have been suggested for aerodynamics, structures, control, navigation, guidance, sensors (including bio sensors), power sources, simulation and operations involving brain-machine interface.
Read moreLightning Shielding with Shading Avoidance for a Photovoltaic (PV) Farm
The special requirement of a PV farm lightning shielding system is that it should not introduce shadow on the active PV surfaces so as to avoid impaired PV generation output. By using a simple, repeatable-unit PV row made up of single or multiple PV strings, the problem of finding a cost-effective and efficient PV row lightning finial arrangement can be resolved. The shading analysis combined with the MS IEC 62305 implementation of the Rolling Sphere Method (RSM) is able to give a simple procedure that lends itself to spreadsheet calculations pertaining to PV farm lightning shielding design.
