Strategies to improve destination accessibility: The Case of Vieira do Minho
This paper makes a critical analysis of the accessibility, especially for people with reduced mobility, of the most relevant tourist resources in the town of Vieira do Minho, a municipality belonging to the district of Braga, located in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The research presented here aims to increase the quality of local tourist attractions, presenting strategies aimed at improving the accessibility of these attractions by people with reduced mobility. It is also intended to answer the following research questions: (1) how accessible are the tourist resources in Vieira do Minho? (2) What are the conditions offered by the various points of tourist interest in the village of Vieira do Minho? (3) What are the barriers that prevent people with reduced mobility from enjoying tourism in this destination? (4) What strategies can be implemented in the various points of tourist interest to enhance accessibility for all people? The methodology used was the structured observation of accessibility conditions in the main cultural spaces, green spaces, gardens, accommodation and restaurants in Vieira do Minho. It is therefore a matter of systematically observing and recording a set of previously established categories. The results of the investigation make it clear that the municipality of Vieira do Minho is on the right path to become, in the near future, a fully accessible destination for people with reduced mobility. Nevertheless, the present investigation detected some gaps, namely in leisure parks, accommodation units, municipal swimming pools, exhibition houses, among others. In order to become a destination of excellence, in terms of accessible tourism, Vieira do Minho will still have to make some improvements to the tourist offer it has, such as installing ramps and elevators, but also improving the quality of the floors in the tourist resources mentioned in this project.

The imposition of travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 has led to growth in the popularity of digital signatures. However, few studies have sought to inquire into the adoption of these new technologies. By combining UTAUT3 and TTF into a new conceptual model, we seek to test several hypotheses and understand the behavior of adopters of digital signatures. To test this model, SEM-PLS analysis was applied to data obtained from a survey with 114 respondents. The results are mostly in line with the UTAUT and TTF models and have shown that Habit is the most relevant predictor of e-signature adoption.
Read moreRivers Flowing Toward the Sea: Education Inequalities During COVID-19 Identified Through a Quality and Satisfaction Questionnaire to Students Concerning E-Learning
This study focuses on preexisting inequalities in education and those maximized by the pandemic. It is based on the validation of scales for the construction of a quality and satisfaction questionnaire on students (QSQS) with distance learning for students of higher education to apply to quality assurance offices of higher education institutions. It is based on six dimensions, and, in this article, the result of one of the dimensions is also analyzed: student participation in e-learning. Through the QSQS to answer the following research question: What is the quality and satisfaction of students concerning e-learning? A large number of students and educators have suffered the consequences of a sudden transition to virtual education. In addition to the lack of equipment and people trained to support students in many households, this alternative means of teaching presents contextual differences. In addition, government actions express the concept of biopower, through mass regulations established based on popular fear. The reconstruction of education needs to start now, in conjunction with societies and communities, planning to compensate for unequal learning losses. Financial resources are particularly important; however, those earmarked for the social sectors tend to be neglected in light of the debt burden in the following years. This may affect, on a large scale, the number of students attending private higher education institutions.
Read moreDistance Learning in an International Context: A Case of Success
Abstract From 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its aggravation, the whole world turned to the transfer of information, that is, from the onsite to the distance learning modality, which involved a series of technological adjustments and mechanisms. However, such mechanisms of assisted technology are not recent, and it is possible to get a detailed observation over more than two decades of development of the most different possibilities and formats. Currently, adhesion is massive in everything that involves the virtual learning environment, and much is discussed about all stages of the processes. Thus, this article aims to demonstrate the importance of internationalization in the context of distance learning, through the analysis of a case study that consists of a set of partnerships involving the Training Institute of Portuguese Speaking Countries (Portugal), the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), through its School of Music and School of Communication, and the Arts National Foundation (Brazil), when conducting a course in Photography and Digital Image. This was the first product of the partnership between the institutions in this context, and because it was a success, the decision was made to report, through this article, its development, and the respective results obtained.KeywordsDistance learningInternationalizationCase study
Read moreThe Identification of Emotional Intelligence Skills in Higher Education Students with WebQDA
It is known that academic performance is not correlated with the way people understand and deal with their own emotions and other peoples’ emotions. Active methodologies allow students to be constantly involved in the learning process and thus allow Higher Education students to cognitively develop Emotional Intelligence (EI). This study is guided by the following research question: what are the learning strategies for developing EI skills in Higher Education students? This is a qualitative study and two focus groups were held with two institutions of Public and Private Higher Education, in which 10 students and 4 Professors participated. The content of the interviews was analyzed using the qualitative analysis software webQDA®. One concludes that the active methodologies, Problem Based Learning and Inverted Classroom, can contribute to develop EI skills in Higher Education students, as they enable mental skills such as reasoning and problem solving, from the perception and knowledge of emotion patterns.

With the expansion of ethanol production in Brazilian distilleries, the incorporation of new technologies in the fermentation process has become essential in order to raise ethanol production potential and minimize the impacts generated, especially with regard to the reduction of vinasse volume. One technology that has attracted a lot of interest is Very High Gravity (VHG) fermentation, which involves the preparation of media with high concentrations of sugars. This technology has advantages over conventional approaches, musts with high alcohol content, minimization of production costs and reduction of vinasse volume. In this context, the objective of this work was to study the influence of temperature, sugar concentration and cell concentration on the batch reactor using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strain C2/00 using a Central Compound Designation (CCD). The conditions adopted by CCD were: temperature (21-29°C), sugar concentration (240-320g/L) and cell concentration (12-30%v/v). The tests were carried out in shaker under temperature and rotation control, using synthetic medium sugar and yeast extract. The fermentations were monitored over time by the measurements of sugars and ethanol concentrations during 24 hours of fermentation. And cell viability was analyzed at the beginning and end of the fermentation. The ranges of the variables analyzed in the CCD that maximized yield, cell concentration and productivity responses and minimized the residual sugar response were temperature of 25-29°C, initial TRS concentration of 260-310 g/L and cellular concentration of 22-30% (v/v). It was observed that using the conditions generated by Statistica® for the validation, the models obtained by the surfaces of responses and contour curves, presented good reproducibility, since the experimental results were similar to the predicted results. The batch alcoholic fermentations in a fed under VHG conditions provided alcoholic contents of 17.64-18.54°GL and yields of 90.78-94.12% satisfactory when compared to the conventional process and other authors. The efficiency of the batch process fed with cell reuse remained relatively constant, and in the 1st fermentation the viability was 84.85% while the 2nd fermentation reusing the 1st cells was 88.18%, evidencing the possibility of reuse in successive cycles in fermentations with high alcohol content

Vascular structures in the abdomen and pelvis can be compressed by anatomical structures or cause the compression of adjacent hollow viscera. Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) consists of obstruction of the third portion of the duodenum due to compression between the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and the aorta.1 The SMA typically arises at the L1–L2 level with an anterior and inferior course, and the third portion of the duodenum crosses between the aorta and the SMA at L3. …
