Based on their experience Erhard Wielandt and his student Gunar Streckeisen at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich, Switzerland, developed the first commercial broadband instrument, dubbed STS‐1 (Wielandt and Streckeisen, 1982).
