Duty or empathy? How egoistic and altruistic routes mediate the impact of interactive storytelling on prosocial consumption intention
Purpose This study aims to examine how egoistic (religious values and duty) and altruistic (moral values and empathy) routes mediate the effect of interactive storytelling types and narratives on prosocial consumption intention in the context of non-profit crowdfunding. Design/methodology/approach This study combines a between-subjects design with three story conditions (empathy-based, duty-based or control) in Study 1 (n = 478) and a stimulus-based survey with partial least squares structural equation modeling in Study 2 (n = 708). Findings Study 1 showed that duty-based storytelling primarily activated egoistic motivation, while empathy-based storytelling activated altruistic motivation, with both narratives also triggering secondary cross-route effects. Study 2 confirmed that both routes significantly predicted prosocial intention, with the egoistic route demonstrating slightly stronger influence. Together, the findings highlight that storytelling is most effective when it integrates duty-based appeals with empathetic concern. Originality/value This study introduces and validates a dual-route model that integrates egoistic and altruistic motivations in response to interactive storytelling. It extends consumer storytelling theory into non-profit crowdfunding and provides culturally grounded insights from Indonesia, a religiously devout and collectivist society.

Determinants of audit quality: A study of auditors at the supreme audit agency of the Republic of Indonesia
The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of competence, work experience, independence, professional skepticism, self-efficacy, and professional ethics on audit quality among auditors at the Supreme Audit Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) Representative Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The study population was all 51 auditors working at the BPK RI Representative Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sample consisted of 41 active auditors working at the BPK RI Representative Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results of this study provide evidence that the competency variable has a significant positive effect on audit quality. Meanwhile, work experience, independence, professional skepticism, self-efficacy, and professional ethics do not significantly influence audit quality. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the BPK RI institution's efforts to improve audit quality, one of which is by improving auditor competence in accordance with applicable standards.
Read moreFarmEye-AI: Bird Pest Repellent System Based on Edge AI and IoT in Paddy Fields for Smart Agriculture
This study investigates the development of a detection and repellent system for Lonchura birds in paddy fields by assigning object detection inference to the sensor level (in-sensor computing) using a Sony IMX500 intelligent camera module combined with a Raspberry Pi 5 and a motorized pan-tilt mechanism. The applied methodologies include picture dataset compilation and augmentation, transfer learning utilizing an object identification architecture, actuator control implementation, and quantitative evaluation of model performance alongside specimen behavioral response testing. The results demonstrate a precision improvement to 86.4% and a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 87.6% at 0.50; the inference rate is recorded at 25 to 30 frames per second; automatic detection is effective up to 200 cm, along with a response to auditory stimuli for avoidance. The conclusion says that the integrated architecture significantly reduces false detections and delays, hence improving the effectiveness of non-lethal insect management.

Early detection of prediabetes plays a critical role in preventing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), especially within primary care, where access to laboratory testing may be constrained. Non-laboratory-based risk assessment instruments, including the tool to assess the likelihood of fasting glucose impairment (TAG-IT), can facilitate preliminary risk screening. This study sought to determine the diagnostic accuracy of the TAG-IT questionnaire in detecting prediabetes, using the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) as the reference standard. A cross-sectional design was implemented across three community health centers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Although 308 individuals were initially enrolled, only 93 participants with complete datasets were eligible for final analysis. The discriminative capacity of TAG-IT was evaluated through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis along with a contingency table. Among the participants analyzed, 24.7% (23/93) were classified as having prediabetes. The TAG-IT tool exhibited modest discriminatory performance, yielding an AUC of 0.656 (95% CI 0.525-0.786; p = 0.026). Using the identified optimal threshold, sensitivity reached 52.2% while specificity was 67.1%. The negative predictive value was 81.0%, indicating better performance in excluding low-risk individuals. Overall, TAG-IT demonstrated moderate utility as a preliminary screening instrument in primary healthcare, particularly for identifying individuals unlikely to have prediabetes.
Read moreThe Concept of Digital Asset Inheritance in the Perspective of Faraid Science (A Study of the Application of Blockchain-Based Crypto)
This normative legal research aims to analyze the legal standing of crypto assets in Islamic inheritance law and to formulate an adaptive faraid approach capable of addressing their non-custodial characteristics. The study employs qualitative doctrinal analysis using the methods of qiyas (analogical reasoning) and maqashid sharia (objectives of Islamic law) to examine the inheritance implications of crypto assets stored on blockchain systems. In the analytical process, locked digital assets are analogized to buried treasure (rikaz) to establish their proprietary status, while reference to Law No. 4 of 2023 concerning the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (PPSK Law) is utilized to reinforce their legality as recognized inheritance objects within the national legal framework. The findings confirm that crypto assets can be validly categorized as māl mutaqawwim (legally valuable property) because they fulfill the elements of hiyazah (legitimate control) and intifa’ (beneficial use), thereby making them subject to inheritance distribution. However, their dependence on private keys presents significant technical barriers to execution and transfer. To address this issue, the study proposes the implementation of Wasiyyah al-Isya’ (testament of access) as a preventive mechanism aligned with the principle of hifz al-mal (protection of wealth), ensuring heirs’ access to digital assets. Additionally, for indivisible or technically complex assets, the application of the at-takharuj (peaceful settlement) mechanism is recommended, whereby ownership is transferred to technologically competent heirs who provide equitable compensation (iwadh) to other heirs. This adaptive framework ensures legal certainty, distributive justice, and alignment with the objectives of Sharia in the digital era.
Read moreCoastal Ecological Damage and Family Resilience: An Environment-Based Family Law Perspective
This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between coastal ecological damage and the degradation of family law functions, as well as to offer a relevant family law reconstruction model to internalize the principle of environmental sustainability in strengthening the resilience of coastal families. The background of this study is based on the fact that coastal families are social units that are highly vulnerable to abrasion, marine pollution, mangrove degradation, overfishing, and the impacts of climate change. Such ecological damage not only causes an environmental crisis, but also has an impact on economic, health, educational, and social harmony aspects within families. Fisherman families, for example, face declining catch productivity, which has implications for the limited fulfillment of children's rights. On the other hand, family law in Indonesia is still sectoral and private in nature, so it is not yet fully integrated with environmental law or maritime policy. This study finds that family law needs to be reconstructed in order to respond to ecological challenges by internalizing the principles of intergenerational justice, ecosystem protection, and the fulfillment of the right to a healthy environment. This reconstruction is realized through three main approaches: reinterpreting norms to include environmental protection clauses in family law, institutional reform so that courts and family authorities are more responsive to ecological issues, and the integration of local coastal wisdom such as sasi laut and awig-awig into the modern legal framework. The results of this study offer an environmentally-based family law model that not only protects internal household relations, but also makes coastal families both legal subjects and ecological actors in ecosystem restoration. Thus, this study provides a new contribution to the study of family law and environmental law, while offering equitable and sustainable policy recommendations for the resilience of coastal families amid ecological change.
