The integration of foundational mathematical concepts into higher education curricula is increasingly shaped by institutional leadership perspectives rather than purely disciplinary considerations. This study examines the predictive role of pedagogical beliefs and disciplinary expertise in institutional decisions to integrate the Binomial Theorem within higher education curricula in the Philippines. Anchored in constructivist pedagogy and disciplinary cognition theory, the research investigates how administrators and subject-matter experts evaluate the curricular relevance, pedagogical value, and strategic utility of the Binomial Theorem across mathematics, accounting, and business science programs. Using a quantitative explanatory research design, data were collected from college and university deans, vice presidents, senior academic executives, mathematicians, accountants, and business scientists through a validated survey instrument. Multiple regression and structural equation modeling were employed to determine the extent to which pedagogical beliefs and disciplinary expertise predict institutional decisions on curriculum integration. Reliability and validity analyses confirmed strong internal consistency, construct validity, and model fitness. Findings reveal that pedagogical beliefs significantly predict curricular integration decisions, particularly beliefs aligned with problem-based learning, applied reasoning, and interdisciplinary transfer. Disciplinary expertise also emerged as a significant predictor, although its influence varied by professional role, with mathematicians emphasizing theoretical coherence and business-oriented respondents prioritizing applied decision-making relevance. The interaction between pedagogical orientation and disciplinary background further demonstrated a synergistic effect on institutional decision outcomes. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by extending curriculum decision-making theory beyond faculty-level implementation to executive and policy-level cognition. It offers empirical evidence to inform strategic curriculum governance, interdisciplinary mathematics integration, and evidence-based academic leadership in developing higher education systems.

The study sought to determine the relationship between pre-service preparation for the in-service training program for teachers and teachers' teaching performance at Opol Central School in the Division of Misamis Oriental for the School Year 2024-2025. A descriptive-correlational research method was utilized, and the Statistical tools used in the study were the mean to determine the extent of pre-service preparation for in-service training for teachers and the frequency to determine the level of teachers' teaching performance. Pearson's r was used to assess the significant relationship between teachers' teaching performance and in-service training. Results showed that in-service training for teachers provided them with the opportunity to re-evaluate different learning opportunities for learners; teachers' teaching performance was outstanding; in-service training and teachers' teaching performance were not correlated. In summary, to enhance teachers' competence and proficiency, it was recommended that the school head conduct in-depth coaching and rigorous teaching supervision. Consequently, to enhance teachers' teaching performance, the school head should tense mostrongn for teachete encourage teachers with the different Subsequently, to improve the conduct of the in-service training program, the school head and master teachers should develop a framework that includes topics for the school-based learning action cell (SLAC) that are research-based, that is, on the actual professional development needs of teachers.

Students in higher education are more sensitive and aware of their self-esteem as well as their motivation in learning. This study examined the level of self-esteem among college students and their motivation, as well as the underlying relationship between the two. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design with 300 students from a local higher education institution in Philippines, who were conveniently sampled during the academic year of 2023-24. To obtain the essential data from the respondents, two structured instruments were used. The gathered data were then subjected to descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential (Analysis of Variance, Pearson-r and Linear Regression) analysis. Results revealed that students have a moderate level of self-esteem, accompanied by a general sense of motivation in various aspects of student motivation. Statistical analysis also revealed variance in terms of intrinsic motivation (by year level) and control of learning beliefs (by college and GPA). Substantial evidence of a relationship was also found between self-esteem and student motivation, wherein test anxiety was identified as a viable predictor of the respondents' self-esteem. The study concluded that self-esteem has a positive relationship with student motivation. Lastly, this investigation suggested some relevant implications.

Recent trends in literary criticism demonstrate a continued interest in the intersections of trauma, memory, and ecology, particularly in postcolonial and diasporic narrative traditions. In The Island of Missing Trees, Shafak’s novel situates individual and collective grief within a living, breathing world of ecological presence, especially from the fig tree’s “non-human” narrative voice. This study examines the novel’s exploration of existential crisis stemming from cultural dislocation, intergenerational pain, and postcolonial identities. It explores how metaphors of ecology operate not merely for semiotic flourish but for narrative purpose, mediating grief, memory, and continuity rather than mere separation or division. At its most fundamental, the research project endeavors to understand how Shafak’s ecological narrative practice reshapes the notion of trauma as a process with non-human temporalities. Focusing on textual critique using principles of existential humanism, trauma theory, and ecocritical approaches, the project examines explanatory narrative events mediated through silence, migration, and memory using the fig tree’s narrative voices. In so doing, the text connects personal to collective memory through the fig tree’s voices against the spatial, temporal shifts between places and time. In doing so, it becomes evident from this research that the fig tree stands not merely for passive meaning but is instead a constitutive factor initiating events from crisis spaces towards opportunities for continuity rather than closure. By so situating, this research projects a healing practice from belonging, relational, and ecological frameworks. By maintaining a narrative interface between memory and ecology, this research project continues the work related to postcolonial literary study, trauma narrative study, and environmental humanities to recognize the capacity for literary practice regarding postcolonial narrative traditions towards coexistence with responsibility for past historical, environmental experiences.

The rapid diffusion of algorithmic decision systems in retail banking has significantly expanded access to formal financial services, particularly among previously underserved populations. However, emerging empirical evidence suggests that expanded access does not uniformly translate into improved financial outcomes. This study advances the concept of the Algorithmic Inclusion Paradox, which captures the counterintuitive dynamic in which algorithmic banking systems simultaneously enhance financial access while undermining users' capabilities and exacerbating conditions of financial precarity. Drawing on the capability approach and contemporary scholarship on algorithmic governance, the study develops a Capability-Governance Framework to explain how automated credit assessment, opaque scoring mechanisms, and weak institutional safeguards interact to erode financial capability despite increased inclusion. The framework theorizes that access expansion operates through distinct structural pathways—mediated by borrower capability and moderated by governance quality—that shape household vulnerability, risk exposure, and resilience within digital banking environments. By integrating human capability considerations with institutional governance mechanisms, this study contributes a theory-building perspective that extends existing financial inclusion and fintech literature beyond access-centric models. The proposed framework offers a basis for empirical testing. It provides policy-relevant insights for regulators and financial institutions seeking to design responsible, human-centered algorithmic banking systems that promote sustainable inclusion rather than financial precarity.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping higher education by streamlining tasks, supporting personalized learning, and enhancing student engagement. Yet, these benefits coexist with risks of dependence, reduced critical thinking, and inequities-a duality termed the relief paradox. This study examined the perceptions of 138 IT students at FEU Institute of Technology to explore how they experience both the relief and paradoxical burdens of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$A I$</tex> in education, with attention to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on inclusive and equitable quality education. Using a descriptiveanalytic design, validated survey instruments, and both descriptive and inferential statistics, results showed that students generally recognized AI's potential to reduce workload and improve inclusivity, while also expressing concern over ethical issues and overdependence. The study underscores the need for balanced integration of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$A I$</tex> in education, offering recommendations for curriculum, policy, and capacity-building to ensure responsible adoption.

Abstract: Mining activities on Homonhon Island, Philippines, have increasingly contributed to coastal water pollution and siltation, particularly during extreme weather events. This study investigates the influence of climatological factors—specifically precipitation—on mining-induced siltation using satellite-based remote sensing. Sentinel-2A imagery was employed to monitor and quantify changes in water turbidity and sediment deposition before and after typhoon events. Two spectral indices, the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) and Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI), were applied to assess the extent of siltation across different time periods. Results revealed a notable increase in siltation areas following typhoons, with the year 2023 showing a surge of approximately 11 million square meters of affected areas, despite receiving only 23.9 mm of rainfall. This indicates that cumulative land degradation from mining operations may have heightened siltation susceptibility even under moderate precipitation. These findings highlight the critical role of satellite-based monitoring in supporting sustainable land use and coastal resource management in mining-affected regions.

Particularly as individuals migrate from conventional to online shopping because of the epidemic, courier services are essential for the economy. Establishing long-term bonds and guaranteeing consistent and trustworthy services depend on confidence. Service quality can be hampered, though, by road congestion and unsuccessful deliveries. This study evaluates consumer trust in courier services by means of the SERVQUAL model; therefore, it addresses service quality. More perceived performance suggests more improved service quality. Evaluating service quality enables operators to modify their activities to satisfy consumer expectations and acquire a competitive edge. Courier services may remain competitive and help local communities by concentrating on service quality and understanding consumer demands. The study aimed to assess the impact of service quality in customers’ trust to courier services towards possible business strategies proposal. The study found that service quality predicts customers' trust in courier service providers, with assurance being the best predictor. Tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy are essential for trust. The null hypothesis was rejected, indicating a significant impact of service quality on customer trust. A proposed business strategy was developed to enhance or maintain service quality and customer trust.

The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a debate on the usefulness of performance evaluations, with employees considering factors like work-from-home and hybrid setups as motivators. Employers aim to maximize employee productivity, and they use performance evaluations to assess performance and emphasize company goals. Ugoani (2020) supports this claim, stating that performance appraisals not only review job performance but also bring attention to the company's goals. Open communication between supervisors and employees is crucial during performance evaluations. However, resistance, lack of motivation, and unclear performance dimensions often lead to questions about performance evaluations. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of performance appraisal practices on employee productivity, as employees today prioritize work-family balance and burnout. The study found that most respondents are not satisfied with their company's performance evaluation system and do not believe it positively affects productivity. They also disagree with the communication of performance results and the effectiveness of supervisors providing feedback. They also disagree with the use of rewards like bonuses or pay raises, which do not motivate employees to work more. They also disagree with the promotion of social activities that do not improve productivity. Additionally, many respondents do not communicate negatively about their work, plan it efficiently, or actively participate in meetings and consultations. They also do not take on extra responsibilities or continuously update their skills and knowledge. The study concludes that the BPO company's performance evaluation practices significantly impact employee productivity.
