Abstract Understanding where, when, and why agroecosystems are changing requires quality information about ecosystems that span land tenure, ecological processes, and spatial scales. Over the past two decades, land management agencies and research groups have adopted a suite of standardized methods for monitoring rangelands, which have been implemented at over 85,000 monitoring locations globally. However, the ability to use these data to understand agroecosystem dynamics and change across scales and across land ownership has been limited because, until now, these data have not been available in a harmonized, accessible format for analyses, modeling, and decision‐support tools. We present the Landscape Data Commons, a cyberinfrastructure platform that harmonizes and aggregates standardized agroecosystem data, enables linkages to models, and facilitates analysis and interpretation of data within decision‐support tools. The Landscape Data Commons provides a community platform for users to contribute data and develop next‐generation tools to support agroecosystem management through the 21st century.

Youth and young adults are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, where part of the solution is providing flexible and effective psychotherapy. In this case study commentary, we review the case of Maggie, a young adult in the United States dealing with suicidal ideation, symptoms from a traumatic sexual assault, and internalized shame. Using his version of a Unified Psychotherapy model, Gregg Henriques explains and details how to use the Unified Theory of Knowledge (UTOK) with particular emphasis on his mindfulness-and acceptance-based technique called CALM-MO. We comment on both the use of his treatment model and on how Maggie’s suicidal ideation was treated. Here, we found promise in Henriques’ UTOK model as a comprehensive framework for case conceptualization, although we worried about its accessibility to new clinicians. As well, we discuss how Henriques’ resource-focused framework was advantageous to treating Maggie’s suicidality, although he may have found additional benefit from updating his risk management practices to be more collaborative and humanistic. Ultimately, we believe the case of Maggie offers a timely exemplar of who is at the heart of our mental health crisis, while offering a comprehensive and unified psychotherapeutic approach for treatment consideration.

We present an approach to analyzing the safety of asynchronous, independent, non-deterministic, turn-to-bearing horizontal maneuvers for two vehicles. Future turn rates, final bearings, and continuously varying ground speeds throughout the encounter are unknown but restricted to known ranges. We develop a library of formal proofs about turning kinematics, and apply the library to create a formally verified timing computation. Additionally, we create a technique that evaluates future collision possibilities that is based on waves of position possibilities and relies on the timing computation. The result either determines that the encounter will be collision-free, or computes a safe overapproximation for when and where collisions may occur.

This paper provides the general policies, operational procedures, and publication accomplishments by the ASCE Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Standards Development Council since October 1, 1999. The ASCE/EWRI World Water and Environmental Resources Congresses started in 2001 in Orlando, FL. The publication of individual articles in ASCE journals continued the established process of ASCE publication committees during the 19th Century. The development of committee reports started whenever appropriate ASCE committees wished to develop pre-standards in about 1950 or so. The ASCE/EWRI Manuals of Professional Practice probably started with Hydrology Manual #28. The development of ANSI/ASCE/EWRI Standard #2 dealing with the “Clean Water Standard” began with the use of EPA funding after 1972. The ASCE/EWRI committee procedures and activities are described according to the information contained in appropriate editions of the EWRI Operations Handbook, appropriate ASCE/EWRI Congress announcements, and the ASCE Rules for Standard Committees. Other processes are described in the ASCE Books guideline for authors. The environmental and water resources publications range from either slightly reviewed (i.e. Congress proceedings) to carefully reviewed consensus documents (i.e. ANSI/ASCE/EWRI standards) and they may cover design, operation, installation, and/or maintenance practices for utilization or adoption by the ASCE/EWRI membership or other professionals, or even appropriate governmental organizations throughout the world. As indicated by powerpoint presentations given by leaders of the ASCE or EWRI standards development process; the publications provided are articles by individuals summarized in the proceedings of congresses, the committee reports by numerous task committees or technical committees of the institute, the manuals of professional practice developed by EWRI technical groups and reviewed by blue-ribbon panels, and the highest level of technical guideline standard or standards of practice, which in some cases have also become American National Standards.

In light of the high affinity of Cu2+ for Alzheimer's Aβ1-42 and its ability to subsequently catalyze the formation of radicals, we examine the effects of Cu2+ binding, Aβ oxidation, and an acidic environment on the conformational dynamics of the smallest Aβ1-42 oligomer, the Aβ1-42 dimer. Transition networks calculated from Hamiltonian replica exchange molecular dynamics (H-REMD) simulations reveal that the decreased pH considerably increased the β-sheet content, whereas Cu2+ binding increased the exposed hydrophobic surface area, both of which can contribute to an increased oligomerization propensity and toxicity.

A novel technique for adaptive frequency compensation in negative feedback amplifiers is proposed. It is demonstrated that a simple reconnection of the compensation capacitor in a two-stage Miller op-amp leads to a pseudoconstant bandwidth for a moderate range of closed-loop gains, without requiring additional power dissipation or extra silicon area. Also, an improvement of power-supply rejection ratio is obtained. The presented technique has been applied to a non-inverting amplifier, which has been fabricated in a 0.18-μm CMOS process. Measurement results validating the proposed compensation scheme are provided.
