Peculiarities of the interaction between the guessing mechanism and psychophysiological reading mechanisms in the process of foreign language reading instruction at the university level

The research aims to substantiate the importance of considering the specifics of the interaction between the guessing mechanism and the psychophysiological mechanisms of reading in foreign language acquisition for university students. The article defines the importance of the developed guessing mechanism for foreign language reading and examines the peculiarities of the mechanisms of perception, comparison-recognition, logical comprehension, anticipation, probabilistic prediction, retrospection, and guessing. The scientific novelty of the research lies in establishing and describing the mutual influence of the guessing mechanism and other mechanisms of foreign language reading and substantiating the necessity of purposefully developing the guessing mechanism in university students. The study concludes that the guessing mechanism functions based on specific reading mechanisms, and proficiency in this mechanism affects the quality and speed of foreign language reading.
