Background: Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly used for the treatment of acid-related disorders. They are generally well tolerated, with a low incidence of adverse effects (1 %). Omeprazole is the most common PPIs used and its intake has tripled from 2003 to 2012 in Spain. Although hypersensitivity reactions to PPIs are rare, they are being more reported in recent years maybe due to the growing use of these drugs. The aim of this study was to review our experience with the use of PPIs in the last 16 years.
