Temperature Rise Determination Test for Synchronous Reluctance Machines Based on Equivalent Load Method
Synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs) can realize high efficiency without permanent magnets, and recently their application has expanded to larger machines. Our group also developed a 400 kW-8488 N‧m SynRM that achieved a world-class continuous rated torque. For such a large torque and high output machine, indirect measurements based on the superposition principle and equivalent load method are preferred in determining the temperature rise. This is beneficial from the viewpoint of reducing the burden on test equipment, but the method is not authorized for SynRM. This paper applied the conventional method to SynRM in experiments and compared its results with the actual load test to assess its applicability. Consequently, it was clarified that the conventional method, consisting of a no-load and a mixed-frequency equivalent load test, overestimates the temperature rise by 25 K or more. Detailed magnetic field analysis revealed that damping loss occurred during the equivalent load test, and its heating affected the temperature rise determination. Finally, we proposed a new method for estimating the temperature rise from the two equivalent load tests performed under the different stator current conditions. It was demonstrated that the method effectively eliminated the damping loss effect and determined the temperature rise with a slight error of 4 K.

Read moreThroughput evaluation of AGV transportation systems based on queueing modeling and AGV route decomposition
Automated guided vehicle (AGV) transportation systems are an important component of flexible warehouse systems, and research on the performance evaluation of AGV transportation systems contributes to the optimization and decision-making of flexible warehouse systems. Compared to simulation and experimental methods, analytic methods require less computational time, which is more applicable when integrated with optimization and decision-making methods. However, the previous analytical methods for performance evaluation neglected the velocity change and collision avoidance of AGVs, which decreased the evaluation accuracy. Therefore, herein, a throughput evaluation methodology based on AGV route decomposition is proposed for AGV transportation systems. In the proposed methodology, an AGV transportation system is modeled as an open queueing network model considering the velocity change of AGVs. The open queueing network model is decomposed into sub-models based on preplanned AGV routes, considering the collision avoidance among AGVs, to decrease the analysis complexity and computational time. Finally, the throughput of the AGV transportation system is obtained by the throughput sum of the sub-models corresponding to the unload stations. The numerical results indicate that the proposed methodology evaluates the throughput of an AGV transportation system with an accuracy of ≥94%. This study will facilitate the efficient throughput and decision-making of AGV transportation systems.

The changing role of HIV-associated oral candidiasis in the era of HAART.
Oral candidiasis is the most common fungal opportunistic infection to affect the oral cavity among HIV patients. The advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has changed the epidemiology of candidiasis, with many studies reporting a decrease in prevalence. However, some studies report rare cases of increased prevalence. This systematic review clarifies the role of oral candidiasis in the HAART era as a marker of immune status and successful therapy for the HIV-infected population.

Simultaneous optimization of dispatching and routing for OHT systems via hybrid system modeling
This paper proposes a new static simultaneous optimization of dispatching and conflict-free routing for unidirectional Overhead Hoist Transport (OHT) systems. Our objective is to minimize the entire transportation time where the given transportation tasks are finished. A hybrid system modeling is applied for OHT system that is constituted by the OHT vehicles at the lower level and governed by the upper level scheduler. In the proposed modeling, it is clarified that the simultaneous optimization problems are recast as a binary integer linear problem by using model predictive control. This paper presents a numerical example and discusses limitation of proposed modeling.

Mixed-load transportation scheduling in a floor warehouse environment
In a warehouse, efficient product transportation is required for high productivity. In general, it is recognized that mixed-load transportation can decrease the moving time to some extent. However, many scheduling methods without regard to mixed-load transportation have recently been proposed. In this respect, we propose a design for scheduling problems with mixed-load transportation handled by vehicles. The proposed method uses two well-known dispatching rules and a local search method based on a simulated annealing algorithm. Two rules are applied to obtain the initial solution while ignoring the mixed-load transportation, and the local search method is applied to improve the initial solution to obtain a semi-optimal solution in consideration of mixed-load transportation. To evaluate the applicability of the proposed system, we implemented our system with several product transportation environment. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
