Luring trainees to primary care requires making its work more tenable and increasing its financial resources. But this recognition won’t lead to change without a transformation of underlying values.

Millions of Indians migrate from their homeland either lured by better prospects or just to survive the subsistence crisis. Poverty, lack of employment, dismal state of the economy, lack of opportunity, depletion of natural resources, occurrence of natural disasters, lack of cultivable land and low agricultural output are some of the ‘push factors’ from the place of origin. ‘Pull factors’, such as better employment options, higher earning facilities, and better working conditions, draw migrants to a new destination like the metropolitan cities. Education of the children of these migrant workers is severely compromised in this movement. The present education system of India is largely suitable for the settled population and does not cater to the underprivileged migrant children. Language, caste, religion and grade appropriate age are some of the other impediments faced by these children to acquire education. Civil Society Organizations and Non-Government Organizations run schools or day-care facilities to ensure continuity in their education. The teachers working with the children in these schools play an important role at the grassroot level to bridge the gaps in their learning. They provide them with a safe space to receive education. This paper highlights the challenges faced by these teachers and the possible reasons behind these difficulties. It also focusses on the opportunities created by the NGOs and CSOs to empower these teachers to provide a better environment for teaching and learning. Multiple perspectives from both teachers and CSO management representatives have been incorporated. It enriches the data triangulation by including diverse viewpoints and experiences. Quantitative data was gathered through questionnaires, and qualitative insights were obtained through interviews. CSOs and their dedicated team of teachers play a crucial role in providing education to children from migrant families, by raising the standard of primary education and provide an inclusive environment.

Publicações anteriores a 2014.

The centre aims to foster new connections between researchers at the university and academics at top institutions in India, an often-difficult task, says Adhvaryu, given India's sprawling higher-education system comprising roughly 50,000 academic Clean-room workers prepare a satellite for a joint mission between NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization.

Drainage water recycling (DWR) using drainage and subirrigation (DSI) has increased the resiliency of crop production and improved water quality in the midwestern United States, but the effects on soil properties and soil health parameters have not been determined. This research evaluated (1) reservoir nutrient concentrations of a long-term DWR site over time, (2) the effects of a DWR system on soil properties at four depths in a corn (<i>Zea mays</i>)–soybean (<i>Glycine max</i> L.) rotation compared to free drainage (FD) and nondrained (ND) soil, and (3) the influence of DWR on soil health parameters after a 17-year corn–soybean rotation compared to ND. Different laboratory methods for estimating these soil health parameters were compared. In the initial years of the study (2002 to 2007), concentration of salts (potassium [K] and sodium [Na]) and dissolved nutrients (nitrogen [N] and phosphorus [P]) were higher in the reservoir water. Mean concentrations were 1.8 mg L⁻¹ for nitrate-N (NO₃-N) and 0.36 mg L⁻¹ for orthophosphate (PO₄-P) in the reservoir during the study. The concentration of salts and ions in the reservoir were not restrictive for use as irrigation water for plants. The DWR treatment had a soil texture that was 11% lower in silt (<i>P</i> &lt; 0.001) and 13% higher in clay (<i>P</i> &lt; 0.001) concentration at 21 to 30 cm soil depth compared to ND. The water table fluctuations appeared to influence cation (calcium [Ca], magnesium [Mg], and K) movement in soils while the FD and DWR treatments had lower soil test P in the topsoil. No significant interaction in soil analysis methods × treatments were observed (<i>P</i> &gt; 0.1), indicating the absence of an effect of analysis methods (Haney soil test, Soil Health Management Assessment Framework, and Cornell Soil Health Assessment) on assessment of soil properties. DWR did not alter soil properties or soil health parameters.

Proliferating measures of health care quality may distract clinicians from what matters to individual patients and from larger public health problems. Has the quality-improvement movement gone astray by ignoring the complexity of both high-quality care and physicians’ motivations?

The third monograph in the series “Discussions on Orthography” (preceded by Pravopisna stikanja ['Junctures of Orthography'], 2012, and Pravopisna razpotja ['Orthography at a Cross-Roads'], 2015) provides an opportunity to present the codification process in more detail. The revision of the Slovenian normative guide is accompanied by thorough research and broad deliberations, in which linguists are assisted by experts from other fields. In this way, we hope to move closer to the ultimate ideal. However, the Commission on Orthography at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts is aware that perfection is difficult to achieve, partly because we respect the diversity of language practises and ideologies. In this respect, we resemble the princess in Andersen's fairy tale; despite many figurative orthographic mattresses and duvets, we wake up repeatedly bruised by orthographic peas. The 22 contributors to the monograph demonstrate precisely this sensitivity to various orthographic and orthography-related issues. Their 19 contributions are thematically grouped in sections titled “The Codification Process: Insights and Observations,” “Dictionaries as Companions to Normative Rules,” “Orthographic and Broader Views on Proper Names and Common Nouns in Slovenian,” “Borrowing in Slovenian: Between Principles and Solid Solutions,” and “Orthography in Cross-Section with Phonetic, Stress, Morphological, and Word Formation Issues.” The monograph Orthography and the Pea thus opens a new perspective on topics that are more or less closely related to the creation of the new orthographic guide.

To the extent that Covid vaccine hesitancy reflects deeper, longer-standing fractures in medicine’s relationship with the public, its exploration provides an opportunity to improve patient care in ways that go far beyond the pandemic.

This paper examines a schooling expansion in Romania which increased educational attainment for successive cohorts born between 1945 and 1950. We use a regression discontinuity design at the day level based on school entry cutoff dates to estimate impacts on mortality with 1994-2016 Vital Statistics data and self-reported health with 2011 Census data. We find that the schooling reform led to significant increases in years of schooling and changes in labor market outcomes but did not affect mortality or self-reported health. These estimates provide new evidence for the causal relationship between education and mortality outside of high-income countries and at lower margins of educational attainment.

The purpose of this study is to highlight the technical aspects and details in performing Bach’s Chaconne from the second Partita for solo violin on vibraphone. Many transcriptions of this work have been made, but so far none for the vibraphone. Topics related to producing the baroque sound on vibraphone, means of expression on this instrument and specific aspects of performance are analyzed and presented. An analysis of this monumental work depicts the structure and the development of the variation set. The performance semantic in Bach creation is revealed in order to help the artist to understand the means of expression for this work.
