Information leakage is a growing public concern. This paper describes a visualization system for tracing leaks involving confidential information. In particular, the system enables administrators to determine which hosts have confidential documents and the means by which confidential information is transmitted, received and duplicated. The visualization system is scalable to large organizations and can track various means of information propagation in a seamless manner. Also, it helps prevent information leaks, analyze transmission routes and present forensic evidence.

With the great progress of technologies, computers are embedded into everywhere to make our daily life convenient, efficient and comfortable. Ubiquitous society became so real for us with this fast development. However, how to integrate distributed resources existed among heterogeneous devices to build pervasive applications that can constantly adapt to the highly dynamic computing environment is still a challenge. On our previous work, by analyzing the pipelining feature within a user task and exploiting the parallelism among ubiquitous processors, we proposed UMP-PerComp, a ubiquitous multiprocessor-based pipeline processing architecture to support high performance pervasive application development. In this research, we evaluated the network transmission speed of UMP system to reduce the network overhead and provided a method to design the best performance UMP system. Our experience revealed that the data size of transmission in UMP network plays an important rule which highly influence the performance of the whole UMP system. For life extension of fossil power plants, one of the most important subjects is to evaluate creep damage in high-temperature components such as boiler and turbine. In the life prediction, hardness is very important because it shows good correlation with some properties of materials and it is easy to measure. So far, hot hardness hasn't been used for the evaluation of creep damage. This paper reports the availability of using hot hardness for more accurate creep damage.

Abstract The shape of the honeycomb core must be considered in the analysis of the problem of electromagnetic wave scattering in a honeycomb sandwich structure at high frequency. The three‐layer sandwich structure has the characteristic of having a very small dielectric region with respect to its entire volume, since it has a structure in which the upper and lower skin sandwich between them a honeycomb core which contains many honeycomb‐shaped holes. On the other hand, volume integral equations have the advantage of discretizing only the dielectric region, since only the polarized electric current of the dielectric region is an unknown. Thus, electromagnetic wave simulation of the three‐layer honeycomb sandwich structure by using volume integral equations is considered to be an effective means for large‐scale precision analyses. This paper reports a numerical computing method that takes account of the shape of the honeycomb core, applying three‐dimensional volume integral equations to the electromagnetic wave scattering problem of the three‐layer honeycomb sandwich structure, and the results of code verification by means of the optical theorem and its reciprocity are presented. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed numerical computing method is shown by identifying the effects of the honeycomb core on the electrical field intensity distribution inside the skin. © 2001 Scripta Technica, Electron Comm Jpn Pt 2, 84(10): 24–33, 2001

In this paper, we present a two-degree-of-freedom controller tuning for two-mass-spring systems with friction based on the iterative feedback tuning (IFT) approach. While two-mass-spring systems are widely used as fundamental components of the mechanical servo systems, they have sometimes severe friction. In order to cope with such cases, we adopt two strategies. One is the separate tuning of feedback and feedforward controllers. In particular, the feedback controller is tuned to achieve low sensitivity rather than tracking. The other is to introduce a quasi-Newton method into a parameter renewal law. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical simulations. Furthermore, we evaluate its effectiveness by experiments.
