Pangasinan State University

This study aimed to develop a discriminant model to classify the performance of students in Mathematics in the Modern World (MMW) at Pangasinan State University – Asingan Campus based on demographic and support factors. Using a quantitative descriptive-predictive design, data were collected from 154 students enrolled in MMW during the 2024-2025 academic year. Cluster analysis categorized students into high (61%) and low (39%) achievers based on their final grades. While students reported uniformly high levels of individual, motivational, and social support, these factors did not significantly differentiate performance groups. Discriminant analysis revealed that a student’s specific academic program was the most critical predictor. Compared to the baseline course (BSBA MM 1), being an "Education student" was the strongest positive predictor of high achievement, and enrollment in "BIT AT 1" also showed a marginal positive influence. In contrast, demographic variables (age, sex, senior high school strand, parental education) and the measured support factors demonstrated negligible discriminatory power. The resulting model provides a tool for early identification of students at potential academic risk and underscores that program-specific factors outweigh broad demographic and perceived support in predicting mathematics performance. Recommendations include tailoring mathematics instruction to the contexts of non-Education programs and conducting qualitative research to explore the underlying reasons for the pronounced advantage held by Education students.

The study focuses on profiling the municipalities of Pangasinan’s current construction waste management system, including the adequacy of human resources involved in constructional waste management system, and existing policies, activities, and programs influencing waste management as perceived by selected Civil Engineers in the province of Pangasinan. It also examines how constructional waste management practices are monitored and identifies the types of waste typically generated in construction projects by the local and provincial government, such as concrete debris, scraped asphalt, excavated materials, packaging waste, and fuel waste like oils. Moreover, the research assesses the level of awareness among local government personnel regarding waste management protocols and evaluates the seriousness of challenges faced in implementing effective constructional waste management strategies. The study is limited to constructional wastes and specific materials commonly encountered in road and building projects. Based on the findings, a thorough recommendation will be proposed to improve waste management practices, promote sustainable construction, and enhance policy formulation for the different local government units, including the Department of Public Works and Highways, of Pangasinan

Objective. To build a scientific content profile with validity evidence on the Instagram social network, focusing on health promotion for Brazilian and Portuguese university students regarding self-perception and self-image.Methods.A multi-method study based on Design Thinking in four stages: Knowledge Building (1st Review with 26 studies and Documentary Study with 962 forms); Product Definition (2nd Review with 50 studies and Focus Group with 13 participants); Development (Profile Prototyping); and Evaluation and Delivery (with evidence of usefulness, ease, and acceptability assessed by seven users).Results.It was evidenced in 42.3% of the studies that young people have difficulties with the use of alcohol and drugs; among technologies for intervention, multimedia campaigns and social networks were highlighted. The majority (53.8%) of the records expressed the young people's desire to change something about their bodies. The focus group understood the need to intervene in the self-perception and self-image of young people through Instagram. The profile @multi.brasilportugal was created with content about the promotion of self-care, links for theoretical depth, and professional referrals. Regarding usefulness, ease, and acceptability, users considered it extremely likely to be useful for achieving the objective, extremely easy to operate the profile, and quite likely in terms of the clarity and understanding of the interaction with the technology.Conclusion.Design Thinking encouraged the creation of an Instagram profile with interaction and the possibility of using scientific content for education and health promotion, especially to improve body positivity and self-esteem.

Traditional pedagogy in economics education often struggles with the abstract and quantitative nature of the subject that can lead to diminished student engagement and comprehension. This study addresses that pedagogical challenge by developing and evaluating the "JOB Labor Market Card Game," an innovative instructional tool for labor economics course. Employing a mixed-method research design, the researchers assessed the game's effect on student learning and engagement. The research population consisted of 47 undergraduate economics students at Pangasinan State University. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests were used for quantitative analysis to measure the game's acceptability across three dimensions: attention, relevance, and satisfaction. Thematic analysis was employed for qualitative data. The results reveal a very high level of acceptability for the game, with mean scores consistently above 4.35 on a 5-point Likert scale. Students reported improvements in motivation, active participation, and comprehension of complex labor market concepts. The game was perceived as a valuable supplement to traditional teaching methods that can enhance analytical, social, and decision-making skills. Qualitative data reinforced these findings which suggest that the game has the ability to make learning more interactive and engaging. The study concludes that the integration of educational games such as the developed “JOB” Labor Maret Card Game is a valuable and effective supplement to conventional teaching methods in economics and other complex disciplines in higher education.
