Physical activity undertaken in the treatment process additionally increases the oxygen demand of the working muscles. It seems interesting to see whether a delivery of an enriched respiratory mixture can have an impact on lower acidification of working muscles and oxygenation of tissues. To assess tissue saturation and the level of acidification at rest and during exercise while breathing atmospheric air or an oxygen-enriched mixture. Tissue saturation and lactate concentration at rest and during exercise were assessed in 18 females with an average body mass index (BMI) of 42 kg/m2. The study regimen was as follows: day 1 - cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) - determination of the threshold load; day 2 - 20 min of physical effort on a cycloergometer (threshold load, breathing atmospheric air); day 3 - 20 min of physical effort on a cycloergometer (threshold load, breathing mixture enriched with oxygen). Saturation measurements were performed in 3 places on the patient's body by measuring absorbance via near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). A significant decrease in heart rate (HR) at rest was found when using the oxygen-enriched air mixture (Z = 2.1339, p = 0.0328 (effect size (ES) = 0.478)). During the exercise, a significant decrease in saturation was shown only for the midpoint of the quadriceps muscles (Z = 2.1572, p = 0.309 (ES = 0.600)). Medium effect sizes were shown by the difference in resting and exercising lactate concentration change between the experimental models studied (Z = 2.5041, p = 0.0122 (ES = 0.707)). In the experimental models studied, different medium effect sizes were demonstrated in the resting and exercising lactate concentration change. Oxygen-enriched air mixture contributes to reducing hypoxia in working muscles of obese people. Oxygen supplementation can result in higher physical fitness levels. The implementation of oxygen-enriched air mixture is a promising therapeutic strategy for obese patients who exhibit high lactate concentrations after exercise.

This retrospective case–control study aimed to evaluate whether Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) enables differentiation of ankle arthritis in Juvenile Idiopathic Afrthritis JIA from ankle arthralgia of unknown aetiology in patients clinically suspected of JIA. Forty-four children, at ages 5–16, who underwent MRI of the ankle from January 2016 to March 2021 for clinically suspected active ankle arthritis in the course of JIA were included. MRI findings in both groups—patients with the final diagnosis of JIA and without final diagnosis of JIA—were compared and scored. The sum of the scores of 22 ankle lesions in an individual patient (active, destructive and developmental), so-called the MRI summarized score, was calculated and tested in terms of the most optimal diagnosis of JIA. Interobserver agreement was calculated. Inflammatory features were seen on MRI in 38 out of all the included patients (86%). The most common lesions in both groups were effusion in the tibio-talar joint (68% in JIA and 64% in the arthralgia group) and effusion in subtalar joint (64% in JIA vs. 59% in the arthralgia group). In general, more lesions were identified in the JIA group than in non-JIA. However, only tenosynovitis was significantly more common in the JIA vs. non-JIA group (p = 0.031). The MRI summarized score did not allow for discrimination between ankle arthritis in JIA from non-JIA patients; the best levels of sensitivity (32%), specificity (91%), positive predictive value PPV (78%) and negative predictive value NPV (57%) were achieved only at the cut-off point of 10.

Artykuł stanowi polemikę z dotychczasowymi ustaleniami historycznoliterackimi, które sytuują dzieło Norwida w ramach nurtu romantycznego: zwłaszcza z koncepcjami Zofii Stefanowskiej, Zofii Trojanowiczowej czy Edwarda Kasperskiego, ale także z pomysłami ks. Antoniego Dunajskiego, wyprowadzającymi historiozoficzną refleksję poety z dialektycznej myśli Hegla (albo ogólnie: tzw. filozofii niemieckiej), przyprawionej chrześcijańską tradycją i lekturą Biblii. Artykuł zwracał uwagę na niektóre cechy i właściwości poetyki Norwida, jak: oryginalna koncepcja bohatera, personalistyczna koncepcja dziejów, ironia czy ukształtowanie podmiotu lirycznego oraz wirtualnego odbiorcy lirycznego, które w sposób zdecydowany zaświadczają o funkcjonowaniu poety poza wskazanym nurtem literackim oraz ideowym epoki. Zarazem tym ustaleniom przyświeca myśl, że twórca Vade-mecum poruszając się poza romantycznymi konwencjami niekoniecznie musiał wpisywać się w jakiś inny, już istniejący nurt (jak np. pozytywizm, parnasizm), czy też taki, który dopiero zaistnieje w przyszłości (np. modernizm): jego dzieło stanowiłoby wówczas zapowiedź owego nurtu (jako premodernista, jako prekursor współczesnej liryki, jako symbolista etc.). Autorowi artykułu przyświeca zatem refleksja o odrębności, fenomenie Norwida i jego oryginalnej spuścizny przynajmniej na tle literatury polskiej.

Odporność na fuzariozę kłosów genotypów pszenicy testowana była w warunkach polowych w IHAR — PIB Radzików oraz w IGR PAN w Poznaniu (pole doświadczalne w Cerekwicy). Kłosy inokulowane były izolatami Fusarium culmorum. Potwierdzono odporność na fuzariozę kłosów warunkach polowych (typ odporności I+II) większości genotypów z kolekcji form odpornych. Uzyskano wysokie wartości (0,613–0,775) współczynników korelacji indeksów fuzariozy kłosów dla genotypów odpornych badanych w latach 2014–2016. Nie było istotnej zależności pomiędzy odpornością typu I i typu II. Odporności typu I i II słabo korelowały z indeksem fuzariozy kłosów z doświadczenia polowego, wyższe były współczynniki korelacji indeksów fuzariozy kłosów ze średnią odpornością obu typów. Badane genotypy wykazały zróżnicowaną odporność na uszkodzenie ziarniaków przez Fusarium (typ III). Indeks fuzariozy kłosów wysoce istotnie korelował z uszkodzeniem ziarniaków pszenicy. Fuzarioza kłosów powodowała redukcję plonu ziarna z kłosa (typ IV odporności). Stwierdzono istotne korelacje indeksu fuzariozy kłosów i uszkodzenia ziarniaków z redukcją plonu ziarna. Zidentyfikowano genotypy o łączące typy odporności I+II, III i IV. Badane genotypy wykazały zróżnicowaną odporność na akumulację toksyn fuzaryjnych (trichoteceny B, zearalenon) w ziarnie (typ V). Zidentyfikowano genotypy pszenicy wykazujące odporność typu V. Indeks fuzariozy kłosów, stopień uszkodzenia ziarniaków oraz zawartość ergosterolu (ilościowy miernik zawartości grzybni w ziarnie) korelowały wysoce istotnie z zawartością trichotecenów w ziarnie. Korelacja indeksu fuzariozy kłosów, stopnia uszkodzenia ziarniaków oraz zawartości ergosterolu była słabsza w przypadku zearalenonu. Zidentyfikowano genotypy łączące podwyższony poziom odporności różnego typu.
