The Impact of Land Allocation on Land Tenure Security, Settlement, and Land Use Stability of Households and Individuals in Central Vietnam
This study was conducted to assess the impact of land allocation on the land tenure security, settlement, and land use stability of households, individuals in Central Vietnam. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to test the model using survey data from 400 households and individuals in Quy Nhon, Tay Son, and An Lao, administratively under Binh Dinh Province during the 2019–2023 study period and currently under Gia Lai Province following the July 2025 administrative restructuring. The research results show that land allocation has a direct and positive impact on land tenure security, settlement, and land use stability, while also having an indirect impact through a mediating variable, partly land tenure security (shown by the significance level of the research model at 1%, total effect βLA→LTS–SLUS = 0.603). The research results propose several policy implications for land allocation regulations that combine enhanced legal security, actual security, and perceived security, thereby encouraging land users to settle and stabilize their land use.
Read moreTheoretical insights into the stability and nature of nonconventional C-H⋯Y (Y[double bond, length as m-dash]N, P, As, Sb) hydrogen bonds in haloform-pnictogen trihydride complexes.
In this study, we investigate the stability and intrinsic nature of nonconventional C-H⋯Y hydrogen bonds (Y[double bond, length as m-dash]N, P, As, Sb), with special attention given to the largely unexplored C-H⋯P interaction and the first theoretical observation of C-H⋯As/Sb interactions in complexes formed between haloforms (CHX3, X = F, Cl, Br) and pnictogen trihydrides (YH3, Y[double bond, length as m-dash]N, P, As, Sb). The hydrogen-bond strength in the considered complexes increases in the order C-H⋯Sb < C-H⋯As ≈ C-H⋯P < C-H⋯N, with C-H⋯N being about two to three times stronger than C-H⋯Sb. The C-H stretching frequency shifts in the formed hydrogen bonds are predominantly red-shifting, increasing in the order C-H⋯As ≈ C-H⋯P < C-H⋯Sb < C-H⋯N. The larger red shifts observed for the C-H⋯Sb hydrogen bonds relative to the corresponding C-H⋯P/As ones arise from the high polarizability of the proton acceptor and the associated increase in the σ*(C-H) antibonding orbital population, whereas in the C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds the enhancement of the C-H stretching frequency red shift from X = F to Cl to Br is primarily driven by stronger electrostatic interactions between the interacting atoms. Symmetry-Adapted Perturbation Theory (SAPT) analyses reveal that the C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are predominantly electrostatic in nature, whereas the C-H⋯P/As/Sb interactions exhibit a more balanced interplay of attractive contributions, with dispersion becoming increasingly important for heavier halogens and pnictogens. By extending the analysis as a function of the C⋯Y distance, we find that the C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds remain red-shifting and dominated by electrostatic interactions over the entire distance range, while the C-H⋯P/As/Sb interactions exhibit induction-driven blue shifts at short separations and dispersion-dominated red shifts at larger distances.

This study applies the principal-agent framework to examine the impact of digital transformation on banks’ risk-taking behavior in Vietnam in 2012–2022. It further expands the analysis by investigating the moderating roles of bank-specific characteristics and external shocks in this relationship. The results reveal a nonlinear, U-shaped relationship: in the early stages of digital transformation, heightened information asymmetry intensifies principal-agent conflicts, thereby reducing risk-taking. As digital maturity increases, moral hazard becomes more prominent, encouraging greater risk-taking as agents respond to performance-based incentives. Furthermore, larger banks tend to exhibit more conservative behavior due to their complex organizational structures and divergent risk perceptions, while the COVID-19 pandemic coupled with rapid technological change has amplified risk aversion across the sector. These findings offer important implicationsfor corporate financial decision-making and regulatory policy, emphasizing the need to manage agency conflicts and align digital strategies with optimal risk-taking behavior in the evolving digital finance landscape.

Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, MT) is known to play diverse regulatory roles in fruit ripening and senescence. However, its involvement in avocado ripening remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of exogenous MT application (0.1 and 0.5 mM) on ethylene biosynthesis and cell wall metabolism in ‘034’ avocado fruit stored at 22 ± 1 °C and 75–80 % relative humidity. Treatment with 0.5 mM MT (immersion for 2 hours) significantly suppressed ethylene production and reduced the respiration rate. In addition, MT treatment effectively delayed fruit softening by moderating the activities of pectin methylesterase (PME), polygalacturonase (PG), and cellulase (Cx). These results demonstrate that MT can slow ripening-associated physiological and biochemical changes, suggesting its potential as a postharvest strategy to extend the shelf life of avocado fruit.

Viologen-based electrochromic materials have garnered significant attention due to their promising applications in nanoelectrochromic devices. The electrochromic properties of these materials such as switching time, durability, and overall device performance can be modulated by factors including counter ions, functional groups, precursor concentration, and applied potential. In this work, the electrochemical and electrochromic behaviors of dibenzyl viologen (DBV) ultrathin films deposited on conductive indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates were investigated in acidic media. The study focused on the effects of DBV concentration and applied potential, employing a combination of cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results demonstrate that the color of ITO/DBV films in acidic environments can be reversibly tuned by varying the applied potential. The color intensity increases with higher DBV²⁺ concentrations in the solution phase. These findings highlight the potential of the DBV molecule as an effective organic electrochromic material for use in smart devices.
