The purpose of this research was to determine, first, how a plurilingual or monolingual posture adopted during a collaborative writing task influences the emotional experience of Creole learners of French as a second language (FL2), and second, how this emotional experience interacts with the quality of the written production. To this end, 39 FL2 Creole-speaking learners collaboratively wrote texts under two experimental conditions: one imposing the exclusive use of FL2 during the collaborative activity and the other allowing free choice as to the languages to be used. After each task, participants individually answered a self-evaluation questionnaire to measure their emotional state while doing the task. In order to establish a relationship between the emotions experienced by the learners and their writing performance, the texts from both conditions were evaluated using an analytical rubric. The results showed that the participants experienced more positive emotions when they were free to use all their linguistic resources, including their native language (L1). Thus, their emotional experience was significantly more positive in the condition without linguistic constraints. While having access to L1 use contributed to a more positive learning climate, obligatory second language (L2) use was primarily associated with tension and anxiety. Also, participants who experienced positive emotions, regardless of the task, wrote better texts and scored highest on overall quality.

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which has infected many people all over the world. One of the best ways to lessen its spread is through early detection and diagnosis. Various serological tests are now being used as a surveillance tool in the detection of antibodies as a response to SARS-CoV-2. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and performance of the available COVID-19 antibody tests authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Philippines that make use of Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) and Lateral Flow Immunoassay (LFIA). Method: Complete published journal articles relevant to the diagnostic accuracy of the three antibody tests were collected using trusted medical journal search engines. The quality of journals was assessed using QUADAS-2 to determine the risk of bias and assess the applicability judgments of diagnostic accuracy studies. Forest plots were used to summarize the performance of LFIA, ELISA and CLIA according to their specificity and sensitivity in detecting various antibodies. Pooled sensitivity and specificity were also done using bivariate random-effects models with its log-likelihood, a corresponding chi-square test statistic, and area under the summary Receiver-Operating Characteristic curve to see the potential heterogeneity in the data and to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the COVID-19 antibody tests. Results: Bivariate random-effects model and areas under the sROC curve were used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of COVID-19 antibody tests. The pooled sensitivity in detecting IgG based on CLIA, ELISA, and LFIA were 81.7%, 58.7%, and 74.3% respectively, with an overall of 72.0%. For IgM detection, LFIA has a higher pooled sensitivity of 69.6% than CLIA with 61.0%. Overall, the pooled sensitivity is 68.5%. In IgA detection, only ELISA based test was included with a pooled sensitivity of 84.8%. Lastly, pooled sensitivities for combined antibodies based on ELISA and LFIA were 89.0% and 81.6% respectively, with an overall of 82.5%. On the other hand, all tests excluding ELISA-IgA displayed high pooled specificities with a range of 94.0% to 100.0%. Diagnostic accuracies of the test in detecting IgG, IgM, and combined antibodies were found out to be almost perfect based on the computed area under the sROC with values of 0.973, 0.953, and 0.966, respectively. Conclusion: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, existing evidence on the diagnostic accuracy of antibody tests for COVID-19 were found to be characterized by high risks of bias, consistency in the heterogeneity of sensitivities, and consistency in the homogeneity of high specificities except in IgA detection using ELISA. The bivariate random-effects models showed that there are no significant differences in terms of sensitivity among CLIA, ELISA and LFIA in detecting IgG, IgM, and combined antibodies at a 95% confidence interval. Nonetheless, CLIA, ELISA and LFIA were found to have excellent diagnostic accuracies in the detection of IgG, IgM and combined antibodies as reflected by their AUC values. Abstract Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) have become popular in the past two decades because of their key role in numerous military applications, which range from aerial support of troops involved on the battlefield to surveillance and border patrol. The versatility of UAS platforms make it extremely appealing for several civilian applications, and considerable cost reduction for critical components has made this technology a powerful resource for private operators. In this paper we present a collaborative effort with the objective of establishing a competitive UAS educational program at the Rose State College (RSC, a two-year institute) and creating a pipeline to develop a UAS workforce in Oklahoma. The approach modified freshman and sophomore aerospace and mechanical engineering courses at RSC to incorporate UAS design into applicable courses. Experiential learning opportunities involving UAS are included through class projects. Modifying the “Introduction to Aerospace Engineering” course at the University of Oklahoma (OU, 4-year institute) and applying the theoretical concepts learned in class to real examples involving UAS. UAS platforms are not considered as mere special cases, but will be given proper attention both in class and through dedicated homework assignments and projects. We also investigate pipeline of students from RSC to OU. Many of the RSC students attending selected undergraduate classes at OU decide to continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. This positive trend is encouraged by providing UAS students at RSC to perform undergraduate (UG) research at OU. This paper presents different activities to establish curriculum and collaboration between the two institutions to support Oklahoma’s workforce.

Six patients with massive post-extirpative wounds of the knee, all of whom had received adjuvant therapy, underwent wound closure and limb salvage via free-tissue transfer in all but one case. No instance of delayed wound healing requiring surgery occurred among the patients reconstructed by microsurgical tissue transfer. Five of the six patients are presently ambulating on the salvaged extremity. A protocol for management of these complex wounds is presented.

Ripple marks, cross-bedding, and groove casts are examples of directional features of sediments. Variations in grain size or mineral composition are examples of scalar properties. Although directional features normally are considered to be the domain of the surface geologist, by means of the oriented core and more recently the dipmeter, these features also can be used by the subsurface geologist. Recent literature abounds with reports of new types of scalar properties. Directional features and scalar properties of sediments are used to determine paleocurrent direction. The integration of paleocurrent data with environmental information yields a paleogeographic map. Prediction of favorable areas for wildcat exploration and the exploitation of wildcat discoveries can then be made from the paleogeographic map. The Desmoinesian-age Hartshorne Formation of eastern Oklahoma is a shallow but major gas producer within the Arkoma basin. A study in the nature of directional features ^rarr paleocurrent direction + depositional environment = paleogeographic map is presented. This study indicates that the probable nature of the productive Hartshorne sandstone in the discovery well of the South Pine Hollow field, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, is a deltaic channel sandstone with a northeast-southwest alignment. This information could have been used to exploit the discovery well. End_of_Article - Last_Page 1689------------
