In today’s highly competitive and dynamic marketplace, brand equity has emerged as a critical strategic asset that influences consumer perceptions and purchase decisions. With increasing product similarity and intense brand competition, marketers rely on strong brands to differentiate their offerings and build long-term consumer relationships. Youth consumers, in particular, represent a significant and influential market segment due to their purchasing power, brand consciousness, and high exposure to digital media. Understanding how brand equity affects youth buying behavior is therefore of substantial academic and managerial importance. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the impact of brand equity on youth buying behavior and to analyze the influence of its key dimensions—brand awareness, brand associations, perceived quality, and brand loyalty—on purchase decisions, brand preference, and repeat buying behavior among youth consumers. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to youth respondents in the age group of 18–30 years. Secondary data were sourced from academic journals, books, and credible online resources. Statistical tools such as percentage analysis, mean and standard deviation, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and reliability testing (Cronbach’s Alpha) were used for data analysis. The findings reveal that brand equity has a significant and positive impact on youth buying behavior. Among the dimensions of brand equity, perceived quality and brand awareness were found to have the strongest influence on purchase decisions, while brand loyalty showed a comparatively moderate but significant effect on repeat buying behavior. The study highlights the importance of building strong brand equity to influence youth consumers effectively. The results offer valuable implications for marketers by emphasizing the need for youth-centric branding strategies, consistent quality delivery, and effective digital and social media engagement to build sustainable brand relationships.

Delay pervades humanmachine systemsfrom synaptic transmission and axonal conduction to sensing, computation, and actuation. Traditionally viewed as a nuisance to minimize, latency can instead serve as a functional design parameter when it is internal, structured, and predictively compensated. Theoretically, the FLW connects timing-dependent plasticity and predictive coding in neural systems to an analysis of stability in delay-differential equations which shows that moderate delays with structure can stabilize dynamics rather than break them. Practically, this framework informs delay-aware design in brain-computer interfaces and rehabilitation robotics wherein user-experienced delay has to be minimized so as to retain implicit learning and agency. In contrast, internal controller delay can be structured to enhance stability and adaptation. By integrating neuroscience, psychophysics, and control theory, this review proposes delay as both a constraint and a resource, offering a biologically grounded principle for building robust, human-compatible feedback systems.

Abstract In this report, we summarize and analyze the 2024 Adaptyv protein design competition. Participants used computational and Machine Learning (ML) methods of their choice to design proteins that bind the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), a key drug target involved in cell growth, differentiation, and cancer development. Over 1,800 designs were submitted across two rounds. Of these, 601 proteins were selected and characterized for expression and binding affinity to EGFR, with competitors both optimizing existing binders ( K D = 1.21 nM) and creating de novo binders ( K D = 82 nM). All selected designs were experimentally validated using Adaptyv’s automated Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) pipeline. This competition illustrates the potential of crowdsourcing to drive creativity and innovation in protein design. However, it also exposed key challenges, such as the lack of standardized benchmarks, experimental design targets, and robust computational metrics for method comparison. We anticipate that future competitions will address these gaps and further motivate progress in computational protein design.

This essay delves into the impact that the censorship of LGBTQ content on Xiaohongshu can have on the expression of queer individuals. This research conducted an analysis of the censorship mechanism of Xiaohongshu, collected tags commonly used by LGBTQ users, and proceeded to analyze the data. Subsequently, the examination of the connection between the causes and effects of the adjustments made at the societal level is done, as well as the stereotypes surrounding the LGBTQ community. Tumblr is being used as an example of how it can help LGBTQ members to find their identity, find peers and friends, and locate communities. All in all, it is concluded that LGBTQ members attempts to pass censorship can facilitate engagement with the public, which may dispel stereotypes. However, it is essential to acknowledge that these adjustments may also inadvertently create new stereotypes.

The reclamation of surface (opencast) coal mines is not always successful; there remains a legacy of degraded land that burdens local communities. This article evaluates a community-oriented, low-cost means of geoecological regeneration, the “Cradle for Nature” strategy, which uses mosaic tree planting to foster positive natural ecological processes. Results show that, while the autocompaction of minestones quickly raises soil densities to levels hostile to plant growth, forestation helps moderate soil densities. Weathering concentrates metals in minestones, but 14 years of forestation reduced the loadings of five metals by 35–52%. Twenty years of forestation doubled soil organic carbon to >7%; increased bacilli from 7% to 46%; actinomycetes from 10% to 26%; and soil microbe counts 12–15 times, especially in tree plantings treated with fertiliser. Soils under trees also supported a significantly greater earthworm biomass than under grass but, while open-canopy plantings had increased ground flora biodiversity, closed-canopy plantings had lower diversity and biomass. Following closure to grazing, ground biomass increased sevenfold. Young trees act as bird perches and significantly increase seed fall. Small mammal biomass and biodiversity increases after tree planting and higher predators appear. Varteg’s constructed forest provides an effective “cradle” for an emergent geoecological system and its habitat mosaic maximises biodiversity.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the volume of fluid being produced at the time of thoracostomy drain removal and the time to hospital discharge in dogs and cats. Records of 101 dogs and 26 cats with thoracostomy drains were reviewed. Three subgroups were created according to the reason for thoracostomy drain placement: P (postsurgical), A (air) and F (fluid). A generalised linear model with Poisson Errors was performed to test the relationship between the volume of fluid produced at the time of thoracostomy drain removal and the time to discharge. The volume of fluid produced and the time to discharge were compared between species and subgroups. No significant relationship was found between the volume of fluid produced at the time of thoracostomy drain removal and the time to discharge in either species or between the time to discharge and the reason for thoracostomy drain placement. Animals with a volume of fluid higher than 2 ml/kg/day at the time of thoracostomy drain removal did not have increased hospitalisation times. Thoracostomy drain can be removed, without clinical compromise, when the volume of fluid produced exceeds 2 ml/kg/day. However, other clinical parameters must be taken into consideration.
