Accelerometer data are commonly reduced into epoch summary measures (ESMs) for analysis, e.g. ENMO (Euclidean Norm Minus One), MAD (Mean Amplitude Deviation), MIMS (Monitor Independent Movement Summary) or Counts. We compared associations with all-cause mortality of the volume and intensity of physical activity when derived from those four measures in the Whitehall II and UK Biobank cohorts. Volume (Average Acceleration, AvAcc) and intensity (Intensity Gradient, IG) were derived from each ESM. Associations with mortality were estimated using Cox models. 3733 (25.1% female, median age 68.3 years) and 89,848 (56.4% female, 63.5 years) participants were included from Whitehall II and UK Biobank, respectively. Median (IQR) follow-up was 11.0 (10.7, 11.3) and 8.0 (7.5, 8.5) years, with 563 (15.1%) and 3656 (4.1%) deaths. Associations with mortality were largely consistent between ESMs with the lowest mortality risk for those high (above the median) in both AvAcc and IG (Whitehall: HR = 0.59–0.68; Biobank: 0.55–0.61, reference: low/low), and IG associated with lower mortality risk, irrespective of AvAcc. AvAcc was associated with lower mortality irrespective of IG in Biobank only. In conclusion, associations of AvAcc and IG with mortality are broadly consistent across common ESMs, supporting comparability of activity-health findings across studies using different ESMs.Supplementary InformationThe online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1038/s41598-025-30237-5.

Investigate the effect of structured neonatal physical therapy program (SNP) on neurodevelopmental outcomes of moderate and late preterm (MLP) infants. Sixty MLP infants were randomly allocated to usual care (UC) or SNP. A previous publication reported the effect of neonatal component of SNP at hospital discharge. This paper examined SNP's effect on motor, cognitive and language outcomes at 3 and 6months using a 2-way mixed design ANOVA. Both groups were similar at baseline for motor scores. Infants receiving SNP significantly outperformed UC at all subsequent time points. At 3 and 6months, SNP significantly outscored UC in cognitive and language outcomes. SNP is effective in improving neurodevelopmental outcomes of MLP infants. However, caution is suggested in interpreting its effect on cognition and language as we lacked baseline scores to compare the longitudinal trajectory.

Multiple, complex factors comprise the learning environment and influence student learning outcomes, yet comprehensive evaluation of the learning environment in nursing schools is limited. The Learning Environment Survey (LES) was developed to facilitate nursing students' report of perceptions of the complex learning environment in nursing education. Systematic exploration of the literature, conceptual operationalization of the learning environment, and development of an item pool were completed. Content validity was established with expert assessment, student testing for clarity, and calculation of scale-content validity index/average (S-CVI/Ave). Pilot testing was completed at 1 school of nursing with baccalaureate-equivalent prelicensure and advanced practice master's level students, and doctor of nursing practice students. The CVI (S-CVI/Ave) was 0.92. Domain scores demonstrated Cronbach's α reliabilities of 0.67 or higher with most being > 0.85. The LES establishes a mechanism for eliciting comprehensive learning environment data for systematic assessment and national comparison of multiple nursing learning environments.

Recommends a distribution control system which provides control of information and resource allocation throughout all stages of the supply chain, including delivery and sales order information, road traffic, vehicles, pallets and drivers. Describes how the system provides retrospective analysis and forward planning facilities and can be tailored to the specific needs of individual user companies.
