To examine risk factors associated with fall events among hospitalized individuals with cancer. 188 individuals with cancer from the inpatient oncology unit of a large, urban, public hospital in New York satisfied requirements for inclusion. A retrospective case-control analysis of electronic health records was conducted from January to December 2022. Descriptive statistics were used to investigate factors associated with fall events and falls with injuries. Bivariate analyses showed that being male, having a preference for the English language, having a solid tumor diagnosis, having metastatic cancer, receiving chemotherapy, using psychotropic medications, and having any isolation precautions were associated with falls among individuals with cancer. High Morse Fall Scale scores, English-language preference, and the combination of receiving chemotherapy and any isolation precautions were found to be highly predictive of a fall event during hospitalization among individuals with cancer. Incorporating oncology-specific patient risk factors into screening or assessment tools and individualized interventions enhances safety.

Summary For decades, the methods of surveying for subsea hazards including pUXO has not changed. This leads to extensive multi-phase surveying, identification and clearance (ID&C) campaigns, higher costs, program delays, and increases project uncertainty for operators and developers. Although survey is a relatively small phase of the overall development, these data outputs underpin some of the larger cost items. Commercially viable 3D acoustic technology is now viable and combining datasets allows for significant reduction in false positives during pUXO survey campaigns, proper determination of target depth and identification of a range of targets of interest, as well as non-ferrous UXO. This new method of surveying is not only beneficial for the direct validation of magnetometer targets and pUXO risk mitigation, but for simultaneous acquisition of geological and shallow hazard information for ground models and burial risk assessments. The current phased approach to site investigations has never been more open to interpretation.

This qualitative research study delves into the rich cleaning culture among Black women consumers, aiming to uncover the underlying motivations, beliefs, and practices that shape their household cleaning behaviors. Through in-depth interviews, the research explores how cultural heritage, community expectations, and personal empowerment inform Black women’s cleaning rituals and product preferences. The study employs a grounded theory approach to analyze participants’ narratives, revealing a complex interplay between societal norms, familial traditions, and individual agency. The findings highlight the role of cleaning as a form of self-expression, a means to preserve cultural legacy, and a powerful avenue for fostering a sense of control and pride within domestic spaces. By illuminating the unique perspectives and experiences of Black women in the realm of domestic cleanliness, this study contributes to a more nuanced understanding of consumer behavior. It offers valuable insights for brands aiming to engage with this community respectfully and authentically.
