Early bioprosthetic valve thrombosis is a life-threatening complication, and hypercoagulable states such as heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) can contribute to the formation of thrombi. A 67-year-old woman with a prior history of HIT and surgical replacement of mitral and tricuspid valves presented with shortness of breath. Transthoracic echocardiography showed an atrial septal defect with right-to-left shunt and thickened tricuspid valve leaflets. Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography revealed a severe thrombotic bioprosthetic tricuspid valve. She underwent successful transcatheter tricuspid valve-in-valve (TTViV) and atrial septic device closure. TTViV is a critical option for patients presenting with early tricuspid valve thrombosis due to HIT. Increased right atrial pressure from tricuspid thrombosis can result in dehiscence of the interatrial sutures, leading to a hemodynamically significant shunt and necessitating its closure. HIT is a prothrombotic state that can lead to early valve thrombosis. TTViV offers an effective treatment option for high-surgical risk patients.

Abstract The elusive notion of identity is first treated in this chapter in relation to the definition of church, its call to worship, and its social vocation. Some key Anglican emphases and characteristics are identified across the wider terrain of Prayer Books of member churches of the Anglican Communion. The view of the Prayer Book by member churches marks both a contested history of the church as well as an acknowledged sense of connection with the Prayer Book tradition. The relationship between the Bible and the Prayer Book and the place and use of psalms in worship receive more detailed attention. The consensus regarding the shape and structure of liturgical worship, in both digital and in-person forms, is considered and evaluated. Finally, the chapter returns to the initial premise of the social vocation of Anglicanism and illustrates how social responsibilities and obligations are correlated to corporate worship.

Other than Paul, no writer has had greater influence on the theology of justification than Augustine. This landmark study fills an astonishing lacuna in scholarship, offering the first comprehensive study of Augustine's theology of justification. Bringing an innovative approach to the topic, Christopher Mooney follows Augustine's own insistence that justification in Scripture is impossible to define apart from a precise understanding of faith. He argues that Augustine came to distinguish three distinct senses of faith, which are motivated by fear, hope, or love. These three types of faith result in very different accounts of justification. To demonstrate this insight, Mooney offers a developmental reading of Augustine, from his earliest to his latest writings, with special focus on the nature of justification, faith, hope, baptism, Augustine's reading of Paul, the Pelagian controversy, and Christology. Clear and engaging, Mooney's study of Augustine also illuminates numerous related issues, such as his theology of grace, the virtues, biblical exegesis, and the sacraments.

Abstract Science, Religion, and the Human Future: Conflict, Collusion and Consequences demonstrates that the myth of an inevitable conflict between science and faith is based on the misunderstanding of both past and present, with potentially adverse consequences for human futures. In its first part, it shows that history does not give good evidence for this kind of conflict and argues that one of the most concerning features of the science–faith relationship is actually their collaboration in defining and validating the ‘civilising mission’ of Western imperialism. In its second part, the book investigates present-day episodes of scientific controversy, where effective science communication was hindered not as a result of a clash between science and faith but because the two remain closely entangled. It shows that the problem is not science’s split from faith, but the unexamined and problematic theologies that remain implicit within it. In its third and final part, the book outlines some productive and non-conflict-based frameworks for talking about science and faith in the future.

Abstract IntroductionSeagrass restoration has historically been difficult and expensive. Recently, there has been interest in co‐restoring seagrasses with Hard clams (Mercenaria spp.) to improve seagrass restoration through nutrient enrichment and water filtration.ObjectivesTo examine the effects of clam co‐restoration and transplantation techniques on seagrass (Halodule wrightii) growth, two experiments were conducted in the Indian River Lagoon (IRL), Florida, from May through November 2023. One experiment compared transplantation techniques (non‐anchored, staples, burlap mats, and jute mats) with and without juvenile clams, while another experiment investigated the effects of juvenile versus adult clams to determine size effects of clams on planting success.MethodsTreatments were monitored for seagrass cover, shoot count, and canopy height. Clam measurements and seagrass nutrients were measured to determine differences driven by treatments.ResultsJuvenile clams in both experiments died weeks after deployment, possibly from predation and transplantation stress. In the transplantation experiment, clam presence had no significant effect on seagrasses due to mortality. Plots planted with burlap had higher cover versus all other techniques (p ≤ 0.0133) and higher shoots versus all techniques except jute (p ≤ 0.0048). The clam maturity experiment found that no clam and adult clam plots had higher cover (p ≤ 0.0462) and shoots (p ≤ 0.0358) versus juvenile clams.ConclusionWhile no relationship between clams and seagrass growth was found due to clam mortality (and possibly algae bloom‐related stress for adult clams), the study determined burlap as the optimal restoration technique of the methods tested in the IRL.
