Compared to general population, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) exhibit high prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) that increases with a stage of CKD. Traditional and non-traditional risk factors associated with CKD contribute to accelerated atherosclerosis leading to CVD. CVD represents the main cause of morbidity and mortality in CKD population. Pretransplant examination is essential to evaluate and optimize the state of cardiovascular system prior transplantation, thus to minimize risks that could have a negative impact on transplant outcome.

Radar measurements are one of the key data sources for detection and nowcasting of convective storms and accompanying severe phenomena. Radar algorithm estimating probability of hail occurrence was first implemented in the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) in 2004. Development of new radar products estimating probability of severe hail occurrence and their visualization has taken place in the CHMI in recent years. This article describes evaluation of radar products which, combined with temperature sounding measurements, determine probability of hail occurrence and provide estimates of maximum hail size. These products are operationally produced in CHMI and visualized in a new JSMeteoView2 application which serves as the main tool for visualization of radar data and other remote sensing data in combination with detailed geographical layers. The article discusses performance of radar hail products tested on a large set of data and their operational usability when estimating hail presence.

The critical years. The nineteen sixties in the Archive of the National Museum The period of the nineteen sixties is a period of crucial endeavours by archivist Aleš Chalupa at the Archive of the National Museum. During this period he drew up a very interesting plan for documenting the present, which he also succeeded in implementing. But he also faced several serious crises. In relation to strict application of the principle of provenance in Czechoslovak archival science, there was a risk that the ANM would lose several rare resources, or rather its so-called Ancient collections. A competence dispute with another key institute, the Literary Archive of the Monument of National Literature, also erupted during this decade and, once again, the result was substantial depletion of the collections of the museum’s archive. Despite all these difficulties, A. Chalupa succeeded not only in defending the actual existence of the ANM itself, but even secured the status of Archive of Special Importance for it.

Krátká intervence by vždy měla předcházet případnému doporučení specializované adiktologické péče. Zavedení těchto ověřených postupů do praxe lékaře může mít u daného pacienta pozitivní vliv na včasné řešení problému a vést k omezení užívání až abstinenci a snížení dopadů užívání na jeho zdravotní stav a další oblasti života. Screening užívání nelegálních návykových látek, v případě pozitivity krátká intervence a případné doporučení specializované péče by tak měly být zavedeny do rutinní praxe lékaře.

The contribution is focusing on the work of the Czech artist Jana Skalická (1957–2015), who was actively creating during the 1980s and the first half of 1990s. At the beginning of her career Skalická worked mainly with textiles, but later on she found a new material, which was better suited for her artistic expression – a plastic film. She was modifing the thin plastics with her own technique, using an iron or a sewing machine. Her art gradually developped from hanging plastic tapestries to three dimensional objects and installations, in which other materials, such as metal, wood, stones and other types of plastic, were incorporated. The majority of Skalická’s works was of an ephemere nature and was not conserved until today. The article is therefore dealing with their photographic depictionand its meaning.

Český polní chirurgický tým působil na letecké základně v Kábulu v letech 2011-2014 v operaci ISAF a následně v letech 2015-2017 v operaci Resolute Support.
