This is a much-needed counter-cultural book about closing churches that covers a huge amount of ground. It arose out of the author’s unexpected experience of closing a church to which she had been ...

Having both been long stay patients in an intensive care unit (ICU) in the 2000s, we understand the importance of physical and psychological rehabilitation after discharge. We were some of the lucky few that could attend a follow-up clinic (run by the Royal Berkshire Hospital),1 which in the long term improved our quality of life as well as, we believe, reducing our chances of …

HL7 Version 2 is the most widely used healthcare interoperability standard in the world. It is used in over 90% of all hospitals in the USA and is widely supported by healthcare IT suppliers worldwide.

This chapter provides a short introduction to UML and XML, key underlying standards used in healthcare interoperability.

This study experimentally assesses a capability of a network, comprised of several small tripartite infrasound arrays, to locate accurately surface explosion sources at distances of several tens of kilometres. The location procedure, we developed, utilises first arrival phase delays and includes two main stages. Firstly a preliminary source location is obtained as intersection point of back‐azimuths estimated for each individual array. Then using jointly time delays from different arrays, a refined location is found via non‐linear grid‐search optimization technique. The procedure features are: independency from a source‐station travel time model, reduced influence of the outliers, optional adaptation to the varying multi‐channel noise. High location accuracy (a few hundred meters) was achieved for field experimental on‐surface explosions in Sayarim valley, Israel, recorded by special tripartite infrasound arrays.
