■ Surgical management of corneal opacities secondary to inflammatory diseases usually help restore vision and improve the cosmetic appearance of the eye, especially when the opacities are large and diffuse. In the acute stage, such intervention helps preserve the globe, as in cases of corneal perforation, and at a later stage, visual restoration can be attempted using the appropriate technique described in this chapter.
