Victims often face not only primary trauma but also secondary victimization from adversarial justice systems, exposing psychological blind spots. This study conceptually examines how trauma-informed justice aligns with victimology and restorative justice to advance empathetic and equitable legal responses. Using a conceptual normative method, it synthesizes secondary data sources through thematic triangulation. Findings reveal that trauma-informed justice is guided by five principles—safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and choice—shift justice toward healing and accountability. Originality lies in framing trauma-informed justice as a bridge between victim-centered and restorative paradigms, contributing a theoretical foundation for trauma-responsive reforms in Global South contexts.

Teacher-student relationships within the Islamic educational tradition are frequently characterized by a unidirectional, vertical hierarchy in which the student is relegated to a passive recipient of knowledge. This power imbalance often triggers pedagogical stagnation and, in extreme cases, manifests as physical violence or emotional detachment. This study proposes a paradigm shift by re-envisioning the dynamics of teacher-student relations through the lens of Mubādalah (Reciprocity). Employing a qualitative approach grounded in hermeneutic analysis, this paper deconstructs the conventional "subject-object" dichotomy and replaces it with a "subject-to-subject" partnership grounded in Mubādalah principles. The analysis applies a three-step Mubādalah framework: first, identifying universal Islamic principles of justice; second, extracting core pedagogical values from religious texts; and third, reciprocally distributing these values to both teachers and students. The findings demonstrate that applying Mubādalah to teacher-student relations transforms the classroom into a space of mutual dignity, where both parties become active participants in a shared spiritual and intellectual journey. This reciprocal model does not diminish the teacher's role but reframes their position from an absolute authority to a mentor and facilitator grounded in compassion (raḥmah). Ultimately, this research contributes to the discourse on Islamic educational reform by providing a theological and methodological foundation for creating non-violent, egalitarian, and harmonious learning environments suited to the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract Legal research in Indonesia and Malaysia continues to evolve amid growing demands for methodological transparency and analytical rigor. However, the dominance of doctrinal approaches has limited the adoption of empirical and mixed methods in regional legal scholarship. This study aims to examine the implementation of data analysis methods in Scopus-indexed law journals from both countries between 2019 and 2024. Using a comparative qualitative approach supported by content analysis, 60 research articles were systematically reviewed from four selected journals. The findings reveal that qualitative methods remain predominant (78 %), while mixed methods are emerging gradually, especially in Malaysian publications. Quantitative techniques are used minimally (3 %), indicating persistent reliance on document-based normative research. Differences between Indonesia and Malaysia are influenced by academic traditions, legal education systems, and editorial policies. This study is original in mapping the methodological patterns of legal research in two Southeast Asian jurisdictions through an empirical review of Scopus-indexed publications. The results contribute to the enhancement of methodological literacy and highlight the need for integrating normative and empirical approaches in legal studies. Strengthening mixed-method applications is essential to advancing evidence-based legal scholarship and aligning Indonesian and Malaysian legal research with global academic standards.

Purpose: This study aims to describe the critical thinking abilities of elementary school students with a field independent cognitive style and low self efficacy in mathematics problem solving. The study focuses on how students demonstrate critical thinking through clarification, strategy selection, and inference when addressing mathematical tasks. Method: A qualitative research approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of students thinking processes. The participants consisted of eight fifth grade students from SDN Ketintang II, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to identify cognitive styles, self efficacy questionnaires to determine affective characteristics, critical thinking tests, and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed through qualitative procedures, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. To ensure data credibility, technique triangulation and time triangulation were applied. Findings: The findings reveal that students with a field-independent cognitive style and low self efficacy were able to meet the three critical thinking indicators used in this study. Students demonstrated the ability to identify relevant information during the clarification stage, select appropriate strategies for problem solving, and draw conclusions based on the information obtained. However, although these students tended to solve problems independently without seeking assistance from teachers or peers, they frequently expressed uncertainty regarding the accuracy of their answers, even when applying familiar solution strategies. Significance: This study provides insight into the interaction between cognitive style and self efficacy in shaping students’ critical thinking performance. The findings suggest that strong cognitive independence does not automatically lead to high confidence in problem solving, highlighting the importance of integrating affective support alongside cognitive strategy instruction in elementary mathematics learning.

Belitung Malay, known as Base Belitung, is a Malay dialect variety spoken by hundreds of thousands of indigenous inhabitants of Belitung Island. Despite its significant number of speakers, studies on phatic elements in this dialect remain limited. This study aims to describe phatic categories, including particles, phrases, and expressions that maintain social relationships, emphasize meaning, and enhance interpersonal interaction. Data were collected through recordings of natural conversations and in-depth interviews with ten proficient speakers. Analysis focused on the pragmatic function of each phatic element. The findings reveal a range of distinctive phatic particles, including eh, jok, tek, yee, an, wai, mak, nang, be, e, lah, and kan, each serving a specific function. This study contributes to regional linguistic documentation, preservation of oral cultural heritage, and enrichment of Malay dialect research, while highlighting the crucial role of phatic elements in fostering harmonious communication within the Belitung community.
